I know you probably already tried but did you clear all of your caches?
Failing that…
Open the widget
Delete the facebook security key only (use right click and cut)
Save the widget settings
Save the page
Go back to the widget
Re add the security key (right click paste)
Re generate the facebook access token
Re save the widget
Re save page and check to see if that works
I’ve been battling this problem all day with the social counter widget added via JS composer on my homepage………… It wasn’t until I added the facebook details into a widget to be used in another page sidebar that the facebook details magically started working in both widgets.
Maybe it was a coincidence? But I’m relived it’s working 🙂
I had also noticed that the pages permalink above the content area was blinking in and out whilst the page was saving, this has now stopped with the older VC plugin installed
Sorry I’ll get the right link now 🙂
https://unplug.tips/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/mangled-vis-comp-1.png
See the link for the broken vc page
Definitely some kind of conflict somewhere with the new version of visual composer.
1, I’ve deleted the theme, deleted all the plugins
2, Reinstalled everything as it was and the same problem re appeared
3, I went back and disabled all plugins
4, Deleted the new visual composer plugin and the social share
5, Reinstalled a previous version of VC from early November, not sure which version
6, Activated plugin, checked pages and everything is fine
7, Activated social plugin and everything still fine
8, activated all other plugins, everything still fine
I had saved a previous template in VC for use on my secondary nav pages, I tried to load this page template again with the older version of VC and this again produced the same broken results as before the VC plugin downgrade
Just tried to save a vc template again with the older version of VC and this again produced broken results when loaded with the backend editor so I’m not sure what’s going on now….. I can create pages manually without reproducing the broken elements but would like to get to the bottom of it.
Let me know if you have any ideas what might be causing this erratic behaviour, this is all since the server migration though so who knows
if I paste a url straight into G+ it shows the image from the correct post but the text below it is from another post
You are correct, I don’t have a mega menu
When I clear all of the caches and click any of the pages in the main nav they seem to take a lot longer to load than the posts I click

Load times for a post are typically around 2 seconds
Load times for a page are typically between 4 – 5 seconds in some cases between 8 and 11 seconds on my most recent test this afternoon.
why do you think this might be the case?
Just thought I would share my site and a few observations on what I’ve changed that make the biggest difference to the look of the thing.
The biggest thing that I find has the most impact on this theme is the font, it’s well worth getting your font’s in order, it makes a huge difference and the standard theme font is so ugly it’s untrue (sorry tagdiv)
Second biggest thing is sectioning off areas of the homepage to only show selected content, hiding little content gems for your visitor to find that don’t appear anywhere else, in the big grid or in the top menu 🙂 adding different backgrounds to differentiate content areas and using the carousel to split the sidebars, I hate seeing sites with the sidebar unbroken, all down one side. WordPressy springs to mind.
I’ve dumped the footer, man I hate wordpress footers
I also hate the wordpress blog roll below the VC content area, I’ve sectioned this off to only show posts from 1 category and made that a kind of stand out area for interesting articles from around the web, I’ve not decided on exactly if it will stay like this but I hate the “latest news” type content areas especially when you have each different content element displaying the latest article anyway. Separate everything and you wont need to use the unique articles setting which breaks my site anyway
Some of the less relevant categories have been omitted from appearing in the big grid to try and preserve the websites core message, I just found that having every category appear randomly as they were posted sometimes confused the thrust of the sites message which is travel on a budget, unplug, escape the rat race and that sort of a vibe. I try to alternate the posts so the big grid doesn’t get filled with one type of post but that’s not easy when you can only think of one thing to write about lol
My other pages haven’t really been thought out properly yet, I’m going to leave that until I have more content on the site, as it fills up I will split the top level pages into more categories to make it easier to navigate.
Looks like I’ve got a lot more work to do on writing articles and UX, I’d love to get some customisation of the CSS to change the look on some of the buttons and stuff but that’s something i’m not gonna mess with yet, it’s been hard enough getting to this point……….
Just need some visitors now lol
Cheers
Nice site bigfoot
Thanks Lucian that’s a great help 🙂
No bother Station, I don’t use that Jetpack stuff 🙂
1 last question for Lucian…..
Is there a way I can get a Google ad to sit on the page either above or below the content area? I note you can do this in the newspaper theme?
I have tried to add them using the inline ad in theme panel, they show on all posts apart from this type, I’ve also tried to place an ad in the page through VC plugin but it just shows the short code for the ad block and not the Google ad itself.
Alternatively could I show a large image ad between the slides, say between the 3rd and 4th slides? I have tried this but the image is always resized down to 300×350
Let me know if you have any ideas please.
Many thanks
D
Just checked through all my other settings and can’t find anything that would be causing your issue, you’ve stumped me on that one 🙁
Are you seeing the same result when you actually publish the post? I kind of remember when I tried to view it in the preview it was messed up too but when published it looked fine.
hey Station,
You’re on the right lines but I’m not sure why it’s trying to add 2 images?
To recap my method:
You are working on a normal post and not working in VC just the plain old editor
Add your title for the first page in H3 format so if your post was called 3 ways to skin a cat it would look something like this
With a knife (in H3)
image of 300×350
Your text bGBNytntUYb btwtr yw h6t wh tq4
vr g t4w h64 h56y h hj 5 h h 42
gt4 hg 5yteh 7y65e 76u ju rj u
With an Axe (in H3)
image of 300×350
Your text bGBNytntUYb btwtr yw h6t wh tq4
vr g t4w h64 h56y h hj 5 h h 42
gt4 hg 5yteh 7y65e 76u ju rj u
With a Spoon (in H3)
image of 300×350
Your text bGBNytntUYb btwtr yw h6t wh tq4
vr g t4w h64 h56y h hj 5 h h 42
gt4 hg 5yteh 7y65e 76u ju rj u
Your post settings need to be as follows
POST STYLE 7 under the GENERAL tab
SMART LIST 3 under the SMART LIST tab
Set the side bar position as the 3rd position from the left, the one with no sidebar showing if you want it full width
Not sure if it makes a difference but I have clicked the images and set them to be “Align Centre” in the grey box above the image after I have uploaded them via the “add media” button
Your screen shot from the editor looks to be correct so I’m not sure why that isn’t working for you, I’ve tried another test on my site and everything seems to be working as it should. I am running the latest version of the theme and the older of the 2 posts in the links below was published in March so it’s been an option of the theme for a while.
I can’t replicate the double image problem you are having, maybe it’s some sort of plugin conflict?
This post setup does tend to have an effect on some other post functionality, I still can’t add google ads in the post either through the panel or via adding an ad box widget via VC
I’d be interested to know how you get on, if you want to have a look at my posts you can see them in the following links
the first ones a test and unfinished but still I’ll leave it on there so you can see it with and without the sidebar

Sorry for jumping in, but again it’s related 🙂
You can make a similar smart list by selecting post template 7 and then selecting smart list 3 in the “smart list” tab in your post settings.
You start the post with a H3 heading then add your image below (I use 300×350) if I have a sidebar on the page then add your text below that, your next section of the post follows below that in the same format so your H3 heading for the next step in the article acts as your page break. If you follow? So it goes like this…
H3 heading (page break)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 2nd page)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 3rd page)
300×350 image
Your article text
H3 heading (page break for 4th page )
300×350 image
Your article text
You get the same effect but it does look a little cramped with a small image and not a lot of space for text if you have the sidebar active.
I can’t get my Google ads to show at the bottom of the post for some reason even though they are set to show in post and at the top and bottom of a post. Maybe you can add a large image to fill the top part of the container and then push the text and a square Google ad as shown in the link so it sits beside the text? I haven’t tried that yet.
This method used to be shown on the demo but doesn’t seem to be on there now, not sure why that is? Maybe it’s obsolete or had problems???????
I’ve just tried to disable the sidebar and this makes the post full width. You can do this by disabling the sidebar in the post settings by altering the sidebar position
I’m guessing if you use a larger image and change the style of the pagination then the only other thing you need is a way of adding a Google ad to this specific post type or adding one in the editor? Not sure how you do that as I’m new to ads but I’ll give it a try
Anyway, it’s a start 🙂

Just in case anyone else is interested the size of the image is 1440×924
Hi Lucian,
just tried your image
http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag_fashion/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/fashion-bg.jpg
And it fits perfectly, I’ll resize mine the same as above.
Thanks for all your help
D
Hmm, I tried a full HD image but it just zooms in real close and you can barely make out what you are looking at
When I upload the image and don’t have it to stretch I just get an image roughly 300×200 px in the top of the header and the rest of the area in blank
Many thanks
Dean
Hi Lucian,
Thank you for taking the time to reply, as it’s not related to vital theme functions at a time when you must be very busy with new update hassles it’s much appreciated.
Many thanks

This better shows what I’m looking to do
http://goop.com/summer-outfitting-ideas/
Click on the individual products and go straight to the store
In case anyone else is wondering WP Gallery Custom links plugin allows you to add a URL into the image
Not sure it’s the solution I was looking for though
Anyone got any more ideas????????????
Any ideas?????
I also have this problem,
It started about a week ago, everything was working fine and then it stopped generating the images for facebook posts for no apparent reason, maybe it was the recent Yoast update that triggered it, I’m not sure.
Now I have to save the post so it generates the featured image from the video, go back into the Yoast panel, upload the image to facebook re-save the post and then go to my site, refresh the page and try to share it again mostly it will share the image with the post but not always. Not a big problem but more work.
I have also noticed that when I try and upload the imaged for Twitter and Google+ in the Yoast panel nothing appears, I get the image URL in the facebook image upload box but they refuse to appear in the Twitter and Google+ image upload boxes
Maybe I’ll try and re install Yoast or something but it all seemed to go wonky with the latest wordpress/yoast updates
Hi Lucien,
I’ve narrowed the problem down and stopped it from happening 🙂
It seemed to be a poorly sized background image on the homepage that was set to resize, I think the image resizing was freaking out the browser sending it on a reload loop.
I also disabled some stuff like breadcrumbs, smart sidebar and loading animation image at the same time but it’s stopped the problem anyway.
I’ll add them back in over the course of time to see if it happens again but for now I’m happy 🙂
Many thanks
D
