I appreciate your help – your support has always been great!
Are you sure that I have to overwrite anything in the child theme? I was using based on Newspaper V7.6 and have updated to V7.8.
I do not see any changes – correct?
Hi Catalin,
Yes, I am using a child theme and have imported/copied the respective files & folders from the main theme to the child.
I totally understand that you do not support these kinds of detailed adjustments.
Only one more question:
Are there other files I should also copy to the child theme? may that be the problem? Or is it simply a matter of finding the proper CSS rules in my custom CSS?
I followed your above guide:
– edit td_menu.php
'custom-menu' => 'Custom menu for mobiles'
– edit menu-mobile.php
wp_nav_menu(array(
'theme_location' => 'custom-menu',
'menu_class'=> 'td-mobile-main-menu',
'fallback_cb' => 'td_wp_no_mobile_menu',
'link_after' => '',
'walker' => new td_walker_mobile_menu()
));
and all is working perfectly for the mobile menu.
But now my desktop main menu has lost its styles.
Did you inspect the code behind the XXX ? It appears that I cannot post that code here in any way.
This is where the problem occurs (please delete after you checked the link.)

Great thank you.

Let me rephrase it: What is the difference between Block-1 and Block-2, Block-3, Block-4, Block-5 etc.
Where can I see visual representation of those differences.
I know that you used to have this detailed in your (old?) documentation but I cannot find that now.
Hi,
In the widget settings are dozens of blocks. How can I know what the output of each block looks like.
Thank you

regenerating thumbnails with all plugins off did the trick. Very strange.
Oh well. I did some rather extensive testing and it seems that non only are non-English characters bad, but also hyphens.
Now testing without hyphens.
Misunderstanding. I switched them all off – tested.
And since it didn’t do anything, I switched them back on.

Mails are on the way
Thank you!
It would have been so nice but that does not solve the problem. Even with all plugins off the issue remains.
And my staging site on WP Engine has no cache, no CDN.

BTW: Switching plugins off (and on again) deleted my Theme Options setting for category background color.

Thank you for you quick reply.
However: The thumbs under block settings have always been on default and switched-on and I had (force) regenerated thumbnails before asking this question. The generated thumbs are on the server, I can see them via FTP but the theme does not display those.
that is an elegant solution.
thank you!
Thank you for that snippet but that seems a bit too hard-coded for what I was looking for. If I understand that snippet correctly that would give all categories with Style 8 one and the same image. But I want to use different images, one for each category.
Maybe I rephrase my question:
Is the a category style for which I can set an image in your theme panel. Where the image does not cover the whole background but only the “image box” above the content and below the menu?
A third way of phrasing this would be:
Is there any way – not necessarily a category style but maybe a dynamically inserted “category featured image” – to set one image for a category page, where the image appears above the content and below the menu – but does not cover the whole background?
======
FYI: I use a child theme and custom CSS file.

Ok, great with your last email and your custom CSS
.single .td-post-featured-image img { width: 100%; }
I was able to achieve what I needed.

Thank you very much and keep up the impressive work!

Yeah, that’s where I can switch sharing on/off altogether.
But how can I disable only classic sharing, what’s called .td-classic-sharing in your CSS?
1)
I refer to this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e44t4o4ve8tazyy/image_size.png?dl=0
2)
Astonishing. Even disappointing.
I do realise that your theme is complex and very well executed, that you concentrate on only two themes and on only one niche, and that you give great an speedy support. I very much respect that approach, so please don’t get me wrong if I say this:
I have extensive experience on a “power user” level with dozens of commercial themes and a number of hand made themes. I am the admin of at least 5 WP-based websites actually online in parallel.
And I have never come across a theme that handles images the way that yours does. Again, I don’t mean to complain, I merely need to understand what’s happening so that I can act accordingly.
First question
I have now installed the Upscale Thumbnails plugin and (force) regenerated thumbnails. The result is, that all images included in one of your modules/blocks, i.e. in some kind of post list or slider, are displayed correctly > great! Thank you!
But one problem remains, the images on post single have not changed.
Why?
Second question
How can I manually adjust the position of where a crop is set? This is usually done with the plugin Post Thumbnail Editor. With “crop” I mean this: Assume that the image is large enough for the largest possible media size – no Upscale Thumb is needed > i.e. ideal circumstances.
The important content in this large image is only very small and in bottom right hand corner. For the very small square thumbnails td_80x60 size I want to focus on only this small area. How can I achieve that?
Great, thank you.
CASE CLOSED
Thank you for those explanations
I have now very carefully Force Regenerated all images and I still have quite a lot of images that do not resize correctly. Even if I manually correct those crops with Post Thumbnail Editor they still do not show-up correctly.
Is there a way to send you my URL privately for you to have a look?
2nd Question
This may not be a question for you!? In Post Thumbnail Editor, for many themes there are the identical aspect ratios of images clustered. This makes it much, much faster to edit the crop in one go. Is this a feature of the 3red party plugin or does that depend on some media setting in your theme?
3rd Question
If some of the images cannot be cropped, may that have something to do with the 0ps image size? What can I do if an image size that has a 0ps setting does not crop to the correct size?
Kind regards
zumaxb
