You can set the image you want with the Yoast SEO plugin, edit the homepage and set an image of your choosing in the Yoast settings, also a description can be set there

Use the Facebook debugger to see how the shared post will look

If all the necessary meta in present in the page source and accessible to Facebook, there should be no problem.
