Many people are complaining about high CPU usage and Slow Speed issues after moving to Newspaper X. Check out a few tips below.
1. Switch to better managed hosting such as Clowdways
2. Remove plugins such as Ad Inserter. In my case, Ad inserter was causing high CPU usage so I replaced it with Newspaper theme’s built-in ad manager
3. Use Jetpack and enable WordPress.com Secure Sign On
4. Hide login URL to prevent brute force attacks
5. WP Rocket is not officially recommended but it works well with the Newspaper theme
6. Remove unwanted and unused plugins. Instead of using a single plugin for each feature, find a plugin that gives you multiple functionalities
7. Avoid using features that request admin-ajax
8. Avoid content preloading and Ajax category
9. Disable Ajax View Count
10. Compress the images. You can use free tools such as Squoosh
Yes. I had already sent a detailed report to the developer team. Few tips are:
1. Use the Heartbeat Control Plugin and reduce or disable post editor activity
2. Avoid using td-Composer blocks that use Admin-Ajax such as Load more pagination
3. Live search
4. Megamenu etc.
Use chrome dev. tools to identify which block is using the Admin-ajax.
Refer this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/disable-live-search/
I’m also facing too many resources being consumed in the last weeks. This isn’t normal. Everything before was fine. We didn’t installed anything, we did things as we usually do.
But then the theme has become very slow from nothing.
We didn’t change anything.
Hi,
Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
Also there was some new implementations in theme plugins, that make the theme faster (this is related on external sources as YouTube), please disable tagDiv plugins, delete them and reinstall the plugins from Newspaper > welcome section (you can install them one by one from Newspaper > plugin).
Thank you!
Satwik/Calin:
Thanks for these great tips! Please advise the best ways to do these:
1. Hide login URL to prevent brute force attacks
2. Avoid using features that request admin-ajax
3. Avoid content preloading and Ajax category
4. Disable Ajax View Count
Thanks & Regards…… Renu Bakshi
1. Use ‘WPS Hide Login’ Plugin or WordPress.com Secure Sign On (Jetpack Plugin)
2. You can disable this in td-composer while designing the cloud templates (Click on any Block in td-composer -> Filters -> AJAX CATEGORIES DROPDOWN – Filter type -> No drop down ajax).
3. You can disable this in td-composer while designing the cloud templates (Click on any Block in td-composer -> Filters -> AJAX CATEGORIES DROPDOWN -> No Preloading
4. https://forum.tagdiv.com/ajax-view-count/
If you are using the latest version of Newspaper v10.3.5 and Mobile Plugin, Go to Theme Panel -> Mobile Theme -> Header -> Disable Live Search.
Thank you so much Satwik.
I received a mail day before yesterday from Envato: [ThemeForest] Update available for ‘Newspaper’
I have read at least three tickets raised by the members that after updating their Newspaper theme their sites have been badly messed up. So far these tickets have not been responded. So, I am very apprehensive whether to update the Newspaper theme or wait for few days till those tickets are responded.
Thanks & Regards….. Renu Bakshi
Hi Renu Bakshi,
Please check the answer from this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/themeforest-update-available-for-newspaper/#post-352618
Thank you for your understanding!
Dear Staff!
Simon C. directed me here.
We have also an extrem cpu usage problem.
Previusly:
“Dear Tagdiv Staff!
We have a huge problem what must to solve please.
We have a news paper theme and it’s reached the maximum limit of server processor.
The entry process number reach the 2000 and more … this is an extremly number and the server has crashed many many times.
We switch off all plugins except Tagdiv composer and other Tagdiv plugins, but the processor usage don’t fall.
After we turn off the theme and change it to another, than the resource usage going down. The first time when we detect this problem the lastest newspaper update. Before, we haven’t got any big problem, but yet, it is horrible and haven’t any idea about the solution. There is the latest wordpress info:

many thanks for your help!
Hi feppa20,
What kind of host/server are you using? please note that using our theme, you need to have a good host with very good resources.
Also I think that it will be batter if you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel. We will take a look. Include all these information in the email.
Thank you!
So, you tell people to avoid using the pagination? Funny how you do not advise that at the point of sale!!!!!!! How else are people supposed to review older articles?
Also, using affiliate links in your advice is wrong – it undermines the validity of your advice.
