One more relative question – How can I center the logo in the floating menu? For example when you scroll up on the website, the logo in the floating menu has too much space above it. How can I move the logo down a little? I want it to be centered (vertically) with the rest of the menu items. [ revgrapher.com ]

i want some pages to have one big grid 5, which will saw all the posts from one category in one big grid 5 (all posts in lines with three posts at every lne, like big grid 5).

2. The Big Grid blocks have a limit for posts in the code so you can change it there. Lets take your example Big Grid 5, here you can change the limit – http://screencast.com/t/XmOZHeiWG8F and the result – http://screencast.com/t/EX7UYmjZbK Please note that the Big Grids were designed to handle only a specific number of articles and for some of them you may need additional customizations(big grid 5 seems to work fine even you set it to display more posts). So if you have also basic html/css experience should not be an issue.

I modfied a little the file wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/shortcodes/td_block_big_grid_5.php

But there is a need to make more pages like this. In the one for category “Men’s Lifestyle” is working perfect.

But if i have at the menu three menus “a,”b and c” (which are coming from three diferent pages), and in every page i have a big grid 5 which in settings have at category filter, at page “a” the category “a”, at page “b” the category “b” and at page “c” the category “c”, there is no way to change the code and some how to take the category which we have set at settings in the big grid 5?

so in this code:

$postsInCat = get_term_by('slug','men-s-lifestyle','category');
$postsInCat = $postsInCat->count;


the :”men-s-lifestyle” to come from code, or to change it at $postsInCat = get_term_by('id',20,'category');"

and the number (id) 20 to can take it with code before.?

You can use one of theme’s ad-spots to display the ad. First insert the html ad’s code in one of custom ad-spots from theme panel > ads then use do_shortcode() function to display a banner ad on top of the page. Just edit the file corresponding with the header style used and add this code like here: http://screencast.com/t/itasx4W4T – http://screencast.com/t/FSgnXBREg3

I’ve used custom ad 1 for this example but you can use any custom ad, just adapt the shortcode. For example if you use custom ad 5 the shortcode will be: td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_5"

Hi

You can use is_front_page() wp function to check when the homepage it’s displayed. Using this function can be made a condition which will display the ad only for homepage, here is an example: http://screencast.com/t/D4k4V3IX

Note that Google News is going through a re-indexing right now and will show bizarro results from some sites as they “respider” your content.

I know of several sites where things like the category tag above the headline was showing as part of headline on the results in GN; but wasn’t happening last month, or last year. Or, the author byline was the headline! Etc.

They are also picking up a lot of things like the pages where there is a “related” story at bottom or side, in lieu of the ‘actual’ page where the news is !

So – upshot it looks like they may be trying to phase out the old “scraper bot” or maybe the XML sitemap system is down, and it has “fallen back” to using the full page scraper.

We have also been seeing images being skipped for no good reason.

It’s not just you, but also not theme specific.

Upshot: GN ‘should’ be pulling from your Google News Sitemap — and if the data is messed up there then it will cause issue. If it’s NOT, then it means they are bypassing that and going with the pesky old scraperbot which tries to guess where headline is, even if it’s shown as the headline in the page source (duh!).

Not sure that helps. But we’ve been in GN since it was in beta 12 years ago, so have suffered most of the zigs and zags. I am guessing they are trying to figure out something to integrate AMP in some way, or maybe just they’re having some other transitional thing.

Hi,

Recently I purchased this theme, could you please let me know how to hide Author name on the posts which admin posts, and show Author name on all other contributors post. For example admin will control all the ‘news’ posts which doesn’t need to show the author info, but for ‘Lifestyl’, ‘Health’, ‘Travel’ etc another guy is handling and he need to show his name on all the post which he posts.

Sorry for the complicated question, hope you understood what I need to do.
