Hi,
You can use this css:
blockquote p {
text-align: left !important;
}
…to get this results:

Hi,
About my issues: if I put twitter/face usernames with less than 1.000 fans/followers, the number show properly. If has 1.000 of more, appears only “1”. Example: 1405 fans (1 Fan); or 15150 fans (15 Fans)….
In any case, the word “Followers” appears (with the final “s” letter, so in plural). I think that is taking an abbreviated value.
They do this normally unless you put in a background color from the theme panel to create boxed layout 🙂
Is there any way to extend the header and footer to stretch across the width of the entire page?
Perfect! Thanks. The homepage links work now.
BUT…. what if we want to make it a little more customized? Like this…
1. The share links on the homepage (Twitter & FB) should add UTM params – https://share.america.gov/?utm_source=shareamerica&utm_medium=homepage&utm_campaign=list — replace “https://share.america.gov/” with the full URL of the article and put today’s date in there too
2. The share links on the individual post for the similar articles (Twitter & FB) should add UTM params – https://share.america.gov/?utm_source=shareamerica&utm_medium=postpage&utm_campaign=similararticles-YYYY-MM-DD : replace “https://share.america.gov/” with the full URL of the article
3. The share links on the individual post for top share buttons (Twitter & FB) should add UTM params – https://share.america.gov/?utm_source=shareamerica&utm_medium=postpage&utm_campaign=sharetop-YYYY-MM-DD : replace “https://share.america.gov/” with the full URL of the article
4. The share links on the individual post for botom share buttons (Twitter & FB) should add UTM params – https://share.america.gov/?utm_source=shareamerica&utm_medium=postpage&utm_campaign=sharebottom — replace “https://share.america.gov/” with the full URL of the article
Can this be done?
Thanks,
David
Hi, your theme is AMAZING, but I have a little issue, the tagDiv Speedbooster plugin doesn’t moves styles to the bottom.
I sent my login credentials to contact@tagdiv.com
Best regards,
Stan
So, one aspect of “responsive” design (good and bad), is that it’s better to load a 25kb image once than load the 25kb image once and the 12kb image together and switch those out on viewport. Better to load the 25kb image ONCE, then resize to fit the aspect you’re looking at when you look at it.
I agree it’s best to load the image only once. All I’m saying (and is what I believe Google Pagespeed is saying) is that we should request the version of the image that is best fit to the screen at it’s current orientation, and then if the device changes the viewport, the image will be resized locally, which is essentially what newspaper does now at a certain level.
For example, if I load my homepage and resize the browser window down to 767 pixels, I see this image which is only 326px wide being displayed at over 700 px wide WITHOUT reloading the image, as seen in the screenshot below, second image down:
Does that make sense? If someone really was bothered by the pixelated images, they’d probably realize that they could simply re-orient their device to how they loaded the page or simply reload the page. It seems terribly inefficient to me to have every single person download a high-resolution image on the off-chance that they will flip from portrait to landscape while viewing the page…
The other benefit of using the larger image is for retina/HD displays on a mobile device which have higher pixel count than desktop; so again, if you do the pixel math, a 700×500 image on a screen with double the pixel count, loaded half size, would still provide the same number of pixels when shown half size — without having to load alternate retina/HD version of image or use “image stacks.”
I agree, it does look nice on “Retina” phone screens, which is why I disabled my retina plugin on mobile devices. I think it would simply be a better solution to have Newspaper serve a 300 px wide image, and then allow the retina plugin to substitute the @2x version, rather than serving everyone the hi-res image.
Doesn’t that seem more efficient?
I don’t think Google wants us to have awful image quality on our sites. I think they just want images to be as small as they can be at their current quality and sized correctly for the display device.
For example, the theme is serving 700 pixel wide images on smartphones where the viewport is 320 css pixels, which Google doesn’t like.
The other thing they don’t like is having wasted bytes in an image. I am compressing all of my images at JPEG quality 90 in pixelmator. I then run them through JPEGOptim, jpegtran, and jpegrescan at a quality of 90 and the file size drops by about half. Then I upload them and Google tells me they can still be a few KB smaller… I don’t care about that so much as I care about serving the wrong dimension of thumbnails to visitors.
I wish the theme made different thumbnails for iPad landscape, iPad portrait, and mobile phone so that we wouldn’t be serving oversized images, which Google hates, take a look at the image below:
When I had the retina plugin enabled for mobiles, it was trying to serve a 1490×966 image on the mobile phone. I had to disable that plugin for mobiles, because newspaper is delivering an image larger than a standard 2x retina image for all mobile phones regardless of whether or not they have the pixels to display the entire image.
I guess I’ll focus on the other things I can do something about, but I wish this would be addressed in a theme update if it’s possible with the bootstrap framework…
Same over here, the dropdown menu is messed up after updating to 4.4
example: http://goo.gl/F1fyL
This is what i’ve tried so far:
– Flush all cache (no improvement)
– Disable all plugins (no improvement)
– Deactivating Cloudflare (no improvement)
– Rolling back to 4.3 (dropdown menu looked fine again)
– Installed 4.4 (dropdown messed up)
I will follow this topic for updates.
Cheers!

Salut,
Daca doresti o poti dezactiva asa: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/dont-want-light-box-for-images/#post-17108
* https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/changing-the-mobile-menu/
* https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/different-mobile-menu-when-using-megamenu-on-desktop/
Avem aceasta chestiune in vedere si vom incerca sa o imbunatatim in viitoarele update-uri ale temei.
Mersi!
Hello everyone again,
I notice a problem when attempting to share a post from the Pinterest button below the post copy. It spawns a pinterest window and I am logged into pinterest, but the image is broken.
The window goes to this link:
http://www.pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=http://www.mydomain.com/directory/&media=http://www.mydomain.com/images/photo.jpg
I can view the photo just fine when viewing the link. I even changed permissions on it from 644 to 755 to see if that was the cause.
Also notice this generates a 301 error in Screaming Frog SEO Spider. Also noticing 302 and 301 errors with the other share buttons.
Any ideas?
Thank you so much.
Newspaper: 4.3
Mac Desktop
Chrome, Firefox and Safari Browsers.
Hi Lucien,
Thanks for picking up the error – it is related to my mailing list widget and I’m investigating it. I changed the max_input_vars from 1000 to 3500 (the highest option) and it is still not working. I tried to change the custom css on another page and it is doing the same thing. I deactivated all my optional plugins and tried again – same thing. I also tried it in a different browser & on a different PC & on a different connection…
I’m really not sure how to proceed from here?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@skykid
WordPress has some default cropping sizes http://screencast.com/t/ifk8fE1HYk and we added more sizes inside the functions.php file – http://screencast.com/t/2QaaubXnqxL
Those sizes are used on modules and sliders (including the Big Slider), you can read here about the thumbs used on modules and sliders https://forum.tagdiv.com/modules-and-blocks/
You can read here more about WordPress hard and soft cropping: http://www.davidtan.org/wordpress-hard-crop-vs-soft-crop-difference-comparison-example/
You could try to registers a new image size, you can read hare more about this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Thanx for the answer
The id from video is ok! I see in your sample, you tried the video and can’t played in widget. In my case, if write the id from this video in playlist widget, the widget no showed in site. Some others video working good! The problem is in any Greek video with or without restrictions
Wellll…… you can supposedly specify which area to crop from in the new media editor in WordPress if they enabled that, and we used to use a plugin for that, which I am going to plead stupid on at the moment.
I think it was this one!
https://wordpress.org/plugins/manual-image-crop/
This seems very popular
https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-thumbnail-editor/
for example, have not tested this one
https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/my-eyes-are-up-here
For consistent thumbnails, based on files you upload, remember that WP will reduce images to fit those specified by the theme and the three sizes in the media settings, but will NOT enlarge them. You need to use the thumbnail upscale plugin which we use here in addition to the auto post thumbnail pro plugin (paid).
Not sure if that helps.
Thank you for your respond, but may be you can give me the instructions how can I close the comments and keep all old comments of the post published. I tried to modify comments.php, but looks like that I need to modify other files as well (single.php?). May be you can write some kind of hotfix for this problem.
All I want to remove comment form and leave all comments when
1. allow comment is not ticked
2. the time expired for example after 2 weeks (Automatically close comments on articles older then 14 days is ticked).
Thank you.
Perfect example, the second link you provided is “not available in your country” when I go to visit it (I’m in USA).
So, it does have some “restrictions” on its use.
First video works for me just fine.

Hi Guys,
Got an odd one. This was working fine before latest newspaper update.
We have galleries like the one here using the mosaic option. I’ve also tried with other gallery types and the same thing happens.
When clicking one of the images to enlarge, instead of opening attachment.php it attempts to open a lightbox and gets the error -The Image could not be loaded. This is an urgent one we need to fix please.
Example – http://www.heyuguys.com/six-new-revealing-stills-christopher-nolans-interstellar/ (click one of the 6 images at the bottom of the post).
Thanks.
Dave
Hi, I’d like to split my posts into pages with jquery or ajax like bleacherreport does. There are some plugins on codecanyon which cost about 20 dollars, but I was wondering if you could have thought about this feature before? I mean if it were on your to-do list, it would be better for me not to buy a plugin at this time.
example of what i’m saying(pagination like a slider): http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2207334-bleacher-reports-week-3-nfl-awards/page/2
Hi,
Yes, you can find the excerpt here: http://screencast.com/t/yDGbTc6ki7
This example is for module 2 layout, if you are using other layout you would need to edit the file for that module.
Here is the excerpt function: http://screencast.com/t/QcPiLmGmvH
Thanks
On the home page slider does not display the titles of posts.
For some posts displays, but do not know where it depends.
Example posts and slider on the home page
http://androidtech.pl/n9005/
Example posts and their titles are not displayed on the slider:
“Testowy wpis SERVITIUM NIE KASOWAĆ Do testów”
“Android L jeszcze w tym roku”
Examples of entries whose titles are displayed:
“Google Glass – Rozpakowanie #1”
“Testowy wpis długi tytuł ixabcdefghijxx X ABRAKAD xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxx”
Please help and resolve the bug.

Hi,
My example was for the blog page not the category and should work for you also. You can read here about this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-make-more-tag-work-on-pages
If you don’t know hoe to do this we recommend you to hire a freelancer to do it for.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately that would be the beast way, you can’t build a different menu for mobile only.
If you inspect the menu items you will noticed that each has a unique class, like “menu-item-4630” in this case, so you will need to use that class to hide the menu item which you don’t want to show up on desktop/tablets screen, then another css to hide the menu item you show on desktop and tables on mobile, below you have some screenshots which will make you understand this better:
* http://screencast.com/t/giGXF0RF
* http://screencast.com/t/iSEqUzAbFsVc
* http://screencast.com/t/Suboukyr8z
* http://screencast.com/t/vRvCuGd497M
You could also build the top menu as you like, the top menu it’s hidden on mobiles but you could customize it then hide it on desktop and use it on mobile.
Here you have the css I used for the example:
@media (min-width: 767px) {
.menu-item-4630 {
display: none;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.menu-item-2962 {
display: none;
}
}
Thanks
