The skin ad is active. I see it both in homepage and in the posts.
Please note it’s a script, not a background image.
I don’t see the ad in the header too. Maybe you have adblock or something like that enable?

Ok, I understand. But, if I don´t choose any featured image with smart list 2, which picture will be displayed by default on blocks? I would like to use smart list 2 in this case. Could I choose any of my smart list pictures as a featured image?

Thank you for your kind words.
1) The featured image you upload for your posts needs to be at least the size of the biggest container it will display on. There is a list in our theme panel of thumbnail sizes here: http://screencast.com/t/uUNAZADLxua
Unfortunately there is no ideal featured image size. This is very subjective as different people use different layouts. There is also the post template to take into consideration. If you use a post template with a big featured image like post template 6, 7 or 8, then only a full hd image will display properly without quality loss.

2)Our theme does not support sticky posts as it will break the layout of the blocks. you can however filter specific posts in a block by using the post id filter in block settings: http://screencast.com/t/F1eIo8eY This way you can add specific posts to your block.

I am learning how to use Newspaper and enjoying every minute of it – thanks for developing such a brilliant and flexible theme!!
I have two questions that I cannot find the answers to – I am probably looking in the wrong place.
1. Is there a list of the recommended picture sizes for the different blocks? I want to ensure that I don’t slow down the site by uploading pictures of too high a size/resolution.
2. Is there a way to make a post ‘sticky’ in a block, so that it always appears as the first item of the block?

This should not impact speedbooster at all. Are you sure that the custom ad 2 shortcode is to blame? Please try to remove the code to see if it really impacts speedbooster. It’s a very unlikely scenario. A simple shortcode should not impact the moving of render-blocks. Maybe you have installed a plugin that interferes with speedbooster. If you want to chose a featured image size, you need to have an image at least as big as the largest container the image will fit in. Basicaly, you must figure out where is the largest size your image will need to display and then you must upload the image at least as big as that container. The theme comes with fixed sizes for each main part of the page and changing the width of one part will automatically affect other elements. For example when a post or page have sidebar its structure looks like this:
– a span8 container with a fixed width by 680px
– a span4 container with a fixed width by 340px: http://screencast.com/t/qRpDqJUrLgG
To increase the sidebar’s width are required lots of customizations and tests because all theme blocks and modules depend by this spans.
Unfortunately we can’t customization services at the moment so if you still need guidance on this or you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

I have found out that the majority of my audience (based on the survey and the majority of my older folks audience 50 – 65+) dont realise that there is a LOAD MORE button after the many content block.
My question is:
1. how can i make it bigger and change the color to RED.
2. how can i modify the text, for example: CLICK HERE FOR MORE NEWS. or other texts.
3. this also referring to to the NEXT PREVOIS button as well, how can it be modified like the color and size.

Is there a way to turn on the post views icon for blocks (like Block 13) that do not appear to have them? I think the # of views is a very compelling stat to show readers, and would draw them in to more articles/posts, but only a handful seem to have it enabled.

I just wanted to ask how the Newspaper theme deals with Featured Images.
Featured Images display as various different sizes depending on the page that they’re being viewed on and the blocks that I’ve chosen within Visual Composer.
Therefore, am I right in thinking that the theme will re-size the images depending on their location within the site? If that’s the case, should I be uploading Featured Images as large as possible to allow them to be used in as many different places as possible?
Can anyone recommend a good size for my Featured Images to be?

A possible solution at this issue would be to exclude from cache all pages where you’re using blocks with Random filter. I am not sure why your host provider said that he can’t exclude the entire homepage from being cached but at the moment we can’t offer a better alternative at this.

Unfortunately this error could come from a big number of problems. I believe it happens due to a server configuration which is not responding, it could be due to a delay or it could also be a temporary issue so you can try this a few times and if you still get this error please contact your host provider and let him know about this, ask them to unblock our demo in order to retrieve the theme data. It could also happen due to your wp install or other plugins might also cause this. During the demo install process deactivate all plugins, just to make sure that there is no conflict.
Also make sure that your permission for the upload folder are set correct. You can check this by trying to upload an image in media library.

Most likely, you do not have posts in those categories. A block is meant to show posts, not categories. If you filter a specific category, the block will look for posts that have the specified category tag.
If there are no posts within that category, the block will not have anything to display. Please make sure you have posts to display. Try a different filter like the latest posts of all categories so that the block will grab all posts in your site and see if they appear.

I have a doubt about the featured image. I have created a smart list where I have 10 pictures, but I would like to choose another picture as featured image. I have checked it, but when I introduce a featured image, it is displayed on top of the post, and I just want it displayed on the blocks, not in the article itself.
How I could introduce it without display it on the top of the smart list?

When I use Quotes from Format menu (https://gyazo.com/9717acc17f5bf740dc735b4c98fb580e) I am not able to change the color only of the vertical line. If I change the block quote color in Theme panel it changes the color of this line but it also changes the text color (this defeats the purpose IMHO). Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option for what you want but you can achieve that only for coding. If you want to have this feature on all posts above post title, you have to use do_shortcode method to implement this. For example, if you are using post template 1, you have to add the code below in loop-single-1.php, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/V6Cf3Yqsao

Unfortunately you cannot limit the pagination. It will show all posts from the specific filter you add to your block. You can however limit the posts displayed on the page itself (not the number of slides but the number of posts shown):http://screencast.com/t/Nk1Adq3ZTTN
If you want to make the pagination on blocks more visible, you can use a bit of css to do it like for example:
