Please keep in mind that Editor Picks is just a simple block 7 set up by default for the footer template. Also, this block is sorted by featured, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/rbLWnDJz If you want to have other elements and change the sort order of these blocks you should change the footer template to style 5 and use any widget you want because it is customizable or also, another alternative, in this case, would be to try using the Footer Page where you can create your own custom footer template.

It could also be a CSS problem, or plugin interference. There have been cases before when thumbnails or images in general were not displayed correctly because of various plugins.
If you could post a link to a page where this is happening I could take a look.

In order to make show your thumbs you need to activate them, please go in Newspaper >Theme panel > Block settings and expand Thumbs on Modules/Blocks there activate the thumbs you use.

Also, if you want to get rid of it the boxed layout, you should simply remove the background image and then, the site will be automatically switched to the normal layout. Please remove/disablethe rocket plugin and any remediesone plugin you install then try it again, something is blocking your menu to show up, and usually some plugins do that.

I was not enable to inspect your page because you have block the right click on your site, but you are use a sub footer not a footer style and you only show a copyright on it.

What you are asking can be done just with custom code, because the code need to recognize every height of screen will be open your site and set the subfooter at the bottom.
