Once you have updated your main theme to Newspaper 10.3.9.1 you will have to create the child theme again. You cannot use the old files because a lot of paths and files are changed.

Recently, while working on my website, I discovered that I wasn’t able to use TagDiv Composer anymore.
When trying to start TagDiv Composer with an existing page it states “The current content page hasn’t been created by TagDiv Composer!” I went to try all other pages and see whether I could open those but same error appears and it keeps on buffering.
What has happened and how am I able to start using TagDiv Composer again?
I’m using Newspaper Child theme 7 (ver. 8.7.4) with WP version 5.6.

Hi Ana, I’m not only using tagDiv plugins and I’m also not using any cache plugin or child theme. The only page that has this problem is Home.

The can be more errors because the version that you updated is very old.
But to make sure that the theme update is done correctly, please disable all plugins, delete theme and theme plugins and install it again (install the theme via FTP) then install the theme plugins from Newsmag > Welcome. Also if you use child theme please disable it.

When I choose two categories for a post, the theme auto-select one of them, in alphabetical order, to be the primary category, as it is explained in this page: https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/.
I want to know if is there a way for the theme to not choose the first in alphabetical order, but the one that is lower in the hierarchy (parent and child category). I want to the theme to always choose the child one.
For exemple, this post:

The primary category (automatically) chose for it was the parent one; the child was selected, but it does not appears in the url, neither in the category tags..

Thank you for your reply. Let’s say that child theme 7 is inactive. If I go from Newspaper 9 to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1 which I have, I will face the same problem? Do I need to replace php and css files?
At this moment I updated the theme, by following your steps for ftp, in the server and i have the new Newspaper directory without any modification.

Upgrading from 7 to 10 can be considered impossible. It is a big step and due to the big number of improvements this upgrade will require re-design of some parts.
Our suggestion is to update the theme and re-create the child theme as you can see here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Dear support team,
we have gone thru all the recommended steps and are still facing the same issues.
When we deactivated all the plugins, the problem is still there.
Likewise, when we deactivated the Child theme, the problem is still present.
Only once we changed the theme from Newspaper to Twenty Twenty-One , all issues disappeared.
With Newspaper theme, the page is still loading very slow, it seems to load all the content but in the background is still processing, trying to connect, so the menu doesn’t load for several minutes or not at all.
Also, when we go to the theme panel in backend, we see the following error:

First you say this: If you want you can add the code https://pastebin.com/FzCkLbQh in the header file set in the child theme under <body> element => https://i.imgur.com/7qha3Pk.png then you say: if you want to achieve the same for “wp_body_open” then only set it in header.php body is not enough, you need to do more changes, custom changes or use plugins that can identify that line of code and use it.
Let’s put thinks straight I want to override your theme header.php how can I achieve that? Is that possible yes our no?

I am sorry the installed versions are Newspaper 9 and Newspaper 7 child theme and I want to update to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1!

Is there a way to make the theme choose the child category (when both parent e child are selected) to be the primary category?
I noted that it chooses the primary as the first one I pick (not even respecting the alphabetic order, as it was supposed to do, but I’d like to make it automatic (to ease the work of the authors and to padronize it, as we have a lot of them writing for the site).
Is it possible? Already tried it via SEO plugin, but got no luck..

I tried to update my website from the activated Newspaper child theme 7 to Newspaper Version: 10.3.9.1 . I did everything based on the description “B. Update the theme via FTP” but when I activated the newspaper theme in my WordPress with all necessary plugins I am not able to see the website as it was before. I see only the titles without any visuals, headers etc. I was thinking that I have also to replace the funtions.php ,header.php style.php footer.ph etc with those I had in the old Newspaper directory but didn’t work. I am new to this so I don’t have any experience in updating the theme. Could you please help me? Can you suggest to me what further steps are necessary in order to have an updated theme and my website as it was before?
