Your first link points me to a document about creating my own plugin, is that right? We are not currently using any custom plugin or code. Am I understanding correctly that we may need to write some custom code to upgrade to the latest theme?

We updated newspaper to 9.7.3 today and everything is broken. Tagdiv composer seems not to work correctly. Menus don’t work correctly, sidebars are broken, shortcodes appear everywhere. We followed your update instructions with detail, with updated the newspaper plugins and activated them. The site needs to be up again as soon as possible, please provide a solution.

After the 9.7 update many of the theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer, due to the new Envato requirements

As a consequence the child theme is quite limited now, only a few theme files can still be used in it.
Also please make sure that you do not overwrite the theme when you make the update, please delete the current theme and only after that install the new version of theme.

we have Newspaper 8.2 installed and we would like to upgrade to the latest version.
I read a lot of the different between the versions and how the latest Visual Composer needs to be upgraded manually. After the upgrade is installed, the site looks all garbled, which is fine since I haven’t upgraded the visual composer at this point.
However, when I do upgrade Visual Composer, the entire site becomes unusable, including the admin area. Here is what I see:
I’ve tried different combinations of installing the theme, like attempting to upgrade the TD plugins before the theme, or upgrading via Envato Market/manually or removing the theme completely and then trying a clean install. The result is always the same, the site becomes unusable.
Do you have any suggestions?

I noticed, that after updating to 9.7.3 the custom templates build with td Composer are not used anymore! Pages with individual post template appear in default layout.
At first I thought, this is a bug in our child-template, but I switched to the child theme inside the /code/ folder of the Newspaper zip-file and here the same error appears. So this must be an error with child themes in general. With the original Newspaper theme individual post templates are displayed correctly.
What do I have to do to fix this?

@simion thanks for the reply. No, I firstly updated the theme and then the plugins. If I turn of the tagDiv Composer, than I see only the codes as on your pritscreen.
I already tried to delete all cache plugins I had on the page, but without any success of an impact to the visual. I can’t say anything to the unusual CSS as I don’t know anything about coding. It seams, that only the main page, that was made with the TD Composer, is “infected”

I have a problem where i use the td composer for edit a page. When i use a text with title block, i can edit the title but if i select “edit text”, a box is open without solution to save the text (no button).

The best way will be to rebuild in the plugin; unfortunately, each way you chose, if you make any updates to the theme, all those customization will be lost, also now our developers team are trying to make possible to do all customization you need using tagDiv Composer and tagDiv Cloud library.

Depends on what you mean by different template/design. Each page can be built in it’s own way with the composer, so it can be different. Each page can have it’s own menu as well, simply select the cloud header template you want (from the ones you have built/imported)

We are working on local with tagdiv composer.
Using the category templates from the cloud library can not be individually customized per category for the sides bars therefore, we are using standart post and category templates.(We were individually placing different banners on per category and cloud templates for categories do not allow this)
So, WPML gives an option to display banners on your chosen language. You can select the widget element to display either on first or secondary language.
İn the first image, you can side that 1 side bar contains 2 custom html box containing banners. We were able to display the banner as we like according to the language. However, now this give an error as seen in the image 2. Do we have to double the side bar number to make it work with different language?

I update the theme to the latest but i m not able to update TD-Composer when i upload file to install new plugin it gives me error as:

does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit.
Also in the wordpress admin panel it is not showing Newspaper theme settings menu.

For custom assets, these have been defined in the the themes > Newspaper > includes > td_config.php
In the update, these items defined in td_config.php with files in the Template still (mostly) work however as all of the original files are now moved into the plugin, what is the best approach… attempting to rebuild in the plugin or retain these in the theme folder.
To initialise the assets within the plugin, is the reference file td-composer > includes > tdc-config.php ?

That should work if you edit the module files in the composer plugin files. The api plugin was discontinued unfortunately. It was replaced with the creative plugin

The guide contains just a simple example at the moment, but not one for an actual block.
Due to the files being moved in the composer after the 9.7 update, currently there would no way of modifying the modules, either than directly. Through the plugin it would be possible to add a new block based on flex block 1 for example, it may take some work to do it however. If I could provide an exact guide as to what needs to be done, I would happily. Maybe we will update the documentation with more examples when time permits.
For the time being you could make your modifications to the module, and back up the file. Then replace the new file after a theme update with the backup. Sorry for the inconvenience.
