We use Google fonts and have a 100 UX score with Google and 97 page speed. Of course, we moved the CSS loading to the style.css file.
Having a single large CSS file is preferable to 10 CSS files like many themes use as it’s cached and compressed as one item by server/browser and not reloaded over and over.
One of the top 3 selling themes on ThemeForest has 10 CSS files loaded per page! TagDiv does not. Footprint on complex themes is average 550kb for CS/Java these days.
A theme I used yesterday to setup a nonprofit website has 7 CSS files, 6 JS files, etc. — I’m having to manually combine those to optimize.
TagDiv closed weekends, as noted top of page.
I answered a bunch of threads, but I don’t work here. 🙂
Sorry to editorialize here, just some feedback on that issue.
Thank you for your support;
is it possible to tweak the width of the container, to make it bigger maybe in the CSS? (maybe only for post style 7).
Below the featured image, i would like to add many images full width within the content…
please do you have a suggestion?
question aside: what is the plugin you are using for you social media buttons,on the image you shared (share on facebook, share on twitter)
many thanks
Thierry
Hi,
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have such an option, so you will need custom modifications for this and we cannot provide custom work, sorry!
A solution is to upload you custom font to your server and define it in the style.css file or Theme Panel > Custom Css like the theme font is defined – http://screencast.com/t/cfvpUyGjYj9 and add your own font name and path.
Once your custom font is defined you can use css code to apply your font.
Hope this helps!
Hi
You can override the theme accent color using custom CSS. Just add this code in the theme panel->custom css and the sub-footer hover color will be different from the rest of the site:
.td-subfooter-menu li a:hover {color: red;}
I set it to red, but you can use another color if you wish. You can chose a color using one of the theme panel’s color pickers and copy the color code.
I hope this helps
Thank you!
@Bogdon
Thanks for your heads up. But do you know there are lot of threads have been answered before my thread which have been posted after my thread? Every time when we are asking for solution, they simply replied that “let we add your suggestion in to-do list or hire someone to customize the theme. We are not seeking for any advanced features, asking you to how to customize the existing features through child theme due to many SEO factors. (Now a days Google have no mercy)
I have requested you to provide ‘disable the Google Fonts option’ via theme options panel nearly 6 months before. Not only me, there are various threads which suggest you to add option to disable Google Fonts.
But nothing considered till date like the thread posted above.
Typical Posts page is just more than 2 MB who using your Newspaper theme without making any modifications. Your CSS file alone has 650K +. Most of the WordPress powered websites pages including all assets does not exceed your CSS file size alone.
Do you think is this okay for SEO friendly websites. Slower connections certainly did took plenty of time to load a post page which used your theme. In SEO perspective, there are many factors against the Best SEO practices. Google Fonts in one of them and still lot to follow.
Hello,
It seems you have a negative line spacing on your h4 titles. You can use this custom CSS to change it back to 0 and it should display fine now: http://screencast.com/t/RaKYxXVTg9
.jp-relatedposts-post-title{
letter-spacing:0;
}
Thank you!
Hi,
You can try this custom css for category page – http://screencast.com/t/Ma5x0Cmu
.category .td-crumb-container {
min-height: inherit;
padding-top: 0;
}
Regarding the category from the permalink you can try to find and use a plugin to remove it. Unfortunately we did not tested any, so I cannot recommend one.
Thanks!
Hi Gwen,
If your featured image is larger that the thumb size, regenerating your thumbnails should fix your issue – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-the-theme-with-existing-content/
If the issue persist you can try this custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css, it will be applied on for homepage slider – http://screencast.com/t/y1HfGqAkm
.home .td-pb-span6 .td_block_slide .td-module-thumb, .home .td-pb-span6 .td_block_slide .td-module-thumb .entry-thumb {
height: 100%;
}
Hope this helps!

Hello,
It takes a bit of custom modification to do it. You can add an extra class on the row in visual composer: http://screencast.com/t/GDM4o7r7OjlN and you can apply styles to that row in CSS.
This is an example on a block 6: http://screencast.com/t/jAT3BC8n4X
You need to target every block you place on your page and set borders to it.
If you cannot manage on your own i suggest you hire a developer to do it for you from sites like studio.envato.com because at the moment we cannot provide any custom work. (We try to help out were we can if it does not involve lots of customization)
I hope this helps
Thank you!
Hello,
You can use this custom css to change the height back again. You seem to have a code that reduces the default line height:
ul.sf-menu > .td-menu-item > a {
line-height: 80px!important;
}
Just add the code in the theme panel-> custom css
Thank you!

Hi,
You can do this via custom css, for example – http://screencast.com/t/uQlEnbKc – http://screencast.com/t/VghrcvF1wV
.td-footer-template-3 .td_block_7 .entry-title a {
color: #F70C0C;
}
.td-footer-wrapper .block-title a, .td-footer-wrapper .block-title span, .td-footer-wrapper .block-title label {
color: #F70C0C;
}
Thanks!
Hi,
When you hide author, date, comments, only those elements will be hidden the parent container is still there and it has some css code(min height, margin). This can be removed using custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css – http://screencast.com/t/vR9PfGSg – http://screencast.com/t/y8nUDrBE2
.td-module-meta-info {
display: none !important;
}
Thanks!
Hi,
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to change also the content background, you will have to use custom css to change it, for example – http://screencast.com/t/jWcZtCUm8ZKP And check every template you use.
.single .td-main-content-wrap, .post {
background-color: rgb(220, 170, 170) !important;
}
Thanks!
Hello,
Sorry for the delay. We do not work on weekends.
You have to provide more details to your problem. Create a test page with the widget you would like to hide and give us a link to that test page so we can inspect it. Also add the mailchimp form to that page so we can try to target just the specific widget you want removed avoiding the Mailchimp form. This is how CSS works. You have to be VERY specific otherwise you can cause other problems to your website.
Thank you!
Hi cbur2107,
The theme has a various of header styles and you can set “style 10” for example, it has center main menu – http://screencast.com/t/lNpYzGCz2e
If you want to use the default header style(1), you can center the menu via custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css – http://screencast.com/t/ZCRyK2Dv
.td-header-style-1 .sf-menu {
display: table;
float: none;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
}
Thanks!
Hello tradermaker,
You have to check your modification of the theme files because the css code i gave Steven has nothing to do with how many search boxes are displayed. it was a simple color change. Your problem originates from somewhere else.
Thank you!
theme works fine with mod_pagespeed …
you just need to setup a proper config file either at server level with dedicated box, or by manually specifying in htaccess file what to turn on explicitly — for example I found that CSS and JS minification does not work well — so it’s a “tuning” process for what is compatible with WordPress and what is not, a bit by trial and error, and also see my posts on this topic the past 18 months in forum as I have used it on our server since Jan. 2014 with TagDiv themes.
e.g.,
<IfModule pagespeed_module>
ModPagespeed on
ModPagespeedEnableFilters collapse_whitespace
ModPagespeedEnableFilters remove_comments
ModPagespeedEnableFilters rewrite_images
ModPagespeedEnableFilters insert_dns_prefetch
</IfModule>
see the docs for mod_pagespeed on which settings you may wish to activate other than the default “safe” batch of MPS settings.
Thanks Andrei,
this custom css fixed this issue.
Could you tell me also how to avoid this “jump” when clicking on one of the tabs?
if the active form PageSpeed apache, the theme does not work, it’s as if it does not work style so the file style.css
help? thank you
Wait for tagdiv support …
typically if something “randomly” stops working, it’s not a theme issue as the theme doesn’t auto-magically change stuff — so, that usually means the code you’re using from Twitter is timing out, or unable to connect, or some other error.
Put another way – if there is no error on the page without the code, but adding the code causes error, generally means error with code, or conflict with some java or CSS being loaded by the code.
I’m sure you already know that — just commenting.
But if you posted link to example, I’m sure tagdiv folk will take a peek come Monday if you don’t solve by then. 🙂
Sorry no super duper awesome answer for this one!
Lots of things easy to edit for many folks; but some things – as with all themes – require custom CSS to over-ride “styles” when changing the defaults.
For the sidebar; typically you would create a NEW sidebar, such as ‘categories’ or ‘homeside’ and then drag widgets to each custom sidebar, then select that custom sidebar and its bank of widgets for the template you want to use.
meaning, you can’t choose widgets per template; you can select a sidebar per template, and each sidebar can have any mix of widgets.
See the docs for how to build a new sidebar from the template edit page; then when you go to the wp admin > appearance > widgets — you would see new sidebar, and be able to customize widgets for THAT new sidebar. Then on home page layout, or categories vs posts, you could choose the new custom sidebar in place of default.
Hope that helped. TagDiv support back Monday, but thought I’d chime in if you were to the hair pulling phase yet 😉
Just some input; I’d be cautious with autominify as that has caused problems with various folks; in many cases auto-minify of HTML is fine (we use mod_pagespeed for this); but for CSS and JS, I personally have found it’s better to MANUALLY do that (see my sticky optimization post topic on how to); as this ensures you know it works, and it’s not an “on the fly” issue but static from get-go.
Just some input on that one item 🙂
Hello,
I’ve tried everything I could but this just doesn’t work on my side.
I’m trying to have different sidebars on the Homepage and the Single Post view but they’re both using ht esame template options in the Theme Panel.
I’ve also tried to change the sidebar option on my Home page (I’m using a custom home with Visual Composer).
Still it always uses the same Default Widget for all the site areas, so I think after 20+ hours of headache It’s time now to ask for help.
P.S: I think I also found a bug with the “News Ticker Title” – was trying to change the font size for the Ticker Title here:
Blocks/Widgets Title
News Ticker
News Ticker title
So eventually I had to Firebug and write my own custom CSS for it.
I’m really dissapointed that things are not going smooth at all with this theme, seems like lots of things are bugged or at least “Not so easy to edit”.
Thanks.
Hi, I am having a problem I cannot resolve yet.
When I to to Post Settings and I turn off the author name, date, post views, and comments number. There is a very large white space resulting where the info is no longer showing and I don’t know how to remove it… I assume via CSS but I don’t know how to define the area correctly so it will work site-wide.
See example: http://wordpress.mauimagazine.net/category/maui-magazine/maui-dining/ – Under each article title, there is a gaping white space. It looks bad. I want to reduce the white space between the article title and its image.
I appreciate your help!!
