Hi guys,
on the demo page (http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/) the header logo (complete img incl white border in img file) and the blue line under the home logo is always aligned with the content of the page, e.g. the featured slider. This never changes even if you shrink to browser to observe the change from desktop to tablet landscape and table portrait mode.
However, on our own test page (http://www.zerspanungstechnik.org/wptest/) the header gets wider than the rest of the page when switching from tablet landscape mode. When were are in tablet portrait mode the header logo even overlaps with the header ad.
This seems to be some miscalculation in the theme. Can you help?

I have updated theme item but when active theme child is shown a few warning codes in the blog and in the administration panel please, can you help me to solve this problem. The lines of code that come out are:

Yes, as I said. Normal behavior for the category list on the category pages is to show “related” categories when part of a topic such as “tech’ or “entertainment” or “whatever” … in your case since you have all “master” categories and no sub categories, it shows ALL the master categories since you have no sub categories.
Tech support will need to provide you a fix or option for either not showing ANY topics, or you would need to create sub categories for that to work as shown in the theme demo, and for sites like mine (and many sites) where categories and sub-categories are used.
Put another way: its default behavior is showing all sub-categories in a parent. If there is no sub-category, it’s showing all the parents.
You will need to wait for tech support to be back in tomorrow night/Monday to address possible options for your particular setup. Sub-categories are the “best” way for most sites to group together related topics, and that is how the theme is setup for default.
The only way you can “fix” this that I know of right now, is to create sub-categories for your content; meaning group your existing topics into parent topics. Then when somebody is on a child topic, that list of topics would ONLY then show those other topics in the same child topic list, not ALL the topics sitewide.
Sorry I don’t have a better solution for you.
The theme normally shows all the “sub categories” for a master category, as found in the demo; that is normal:

To *also* have a “drop down” menu, you would need to create that in your menu setup.
So if you have 10 sub categories in “movies” and go to the movies page, it will show all the sub categories at top of page. Very cool.
So that is working normally.

I just did a search on your website without any problem on the category pages; but it does *not* work on your home page or the post page, as you said.

Hey, did you guys notice there’s 1 px offset between the blue category block and the transparent black date block in upper left corner of “POPULAR VIDEO” section.

So, I received your file, but haven’t been able to import it. I keep receiving the following error:
“File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.”
Now this seems to be an issue that indicates the PHP setup is inadequate for what I’m trying to do. This is how PHP is setup on 1&1 wordpress accounts:

I think the problem is with those settings.
I’m on a shared 1&1 account, but I have manually installed the normal wordpress (not using the 1 click installer). I can upload a php.ini. However I am not allowed to use SSH in order to make an uploaded php.ini recursive, which means that I have to manually upload a php.ini to wherever the importer does something. Since I do not know where that may be, I have gone ahead and copied a php.ini to any place that has .php files and even some additional ones (like upload folder).
This is how my php.ini looks:

1. Changing the .htaccess file to include the change to php limits -> leads to the site being offline, giving me an error 500 page.
2. Using various other php.ini files with different code snippets from various sites and wordpress threads -> Same error, still no cigar.
3. Uploading a gzip file -> I receive a no WXR XML data error message.
4. Allowing czip compression in php.ini and uploading the zip -> Memory exceeded = Memory error on line 460 in some .php file leading me to believe that this isn’t gonna work out either.
Now 1&1 suggests for me to get Cygwin and mirror my folder setup and then just tinkering around more with my php.ini, so that I at least do not have to find every single php.ini and manually change it to a newer version. They were of the opinion that my php.ini looks fine and it should work. They also swear to me, that I have the rights needed for adding the php.ini (meaning it should be effective).
I am running out of patience here and still haven’t come one bit closer to being able to actually import the .xml I received.
Does anybody have any idea as to what I am doing wrong here or what else I could try in order to finally get a successful import of the full demo content?

Note the “remove_action” section is always useful… note it refers to “visual composer” and “meta data” … this removes the comment printed in the rendered page where it shows “created with visual composer 4.3” or whatever. Annoying.
So, basically that code I posted has (3) sections
1) remove general versioning from normal version strings; might not work on all the tagdiv speedbooster enqued stuff
2) change default thumbnail compression level (default in WP is 90, which is for quality, not speed or best practices, which is the WP mindset — better vs fast …. where 70 would be better default, frankly). 50 works. I think we ended up with 60 on some sites for some odd reason (I think ’60’ worked better with mod_pagespeed on our server for WebP conversion or something). Anything is better than 90!
3) hide the visual composer comment string.
You can actually find all my various pagespeed rantings from the past year on the Newspaper forum in the pagespeed sticky post if you want the whole shebang of stuff I do. Luckily TagDiv put a bunch of that into the standard theme docs now, and they already knew most of that from optimizing the demo sites anyway.
If you want an extra little boost you can also locally host gravatars and also optimize your wp-config file; see the Newspaper forum sticky topic, and simply start at end and work backwards to see all my special tweeks, if curious. I think later in the hundreds of posts I would often “resummarize” things, as well as add tweaks for the gravatars, and such. No point in repeating all of that here again. 🙂

What block content is the one being used on the demo home page for “Even More News” ? The one that is full-width and shows 3 posts that can be slided?
Ok, everything is default, the sidebar is default (”Newspaper Default”) and also the position of it is default everywhere (on the right, as in the demo, and ”default” for every category in the theme’s settings, under the ”CUSTOM SIDEBAR + POSITION” setting everything is default).
Thanks for the solution, but a little sad it doesn’t work, with everything on default and also with the ”My menu” name for it. Also updated the theme, and redone all the settings above, and it still doesn’t work.
Or maybe I haven’t entered correctly the .css values? It was supposed to enter it in the theme settings under Theme Panel / Misc / Custom css / Your custom css, right?

Most likely this happens due to a plugin so please make sure you disable all plugins leaving just Visual Composer active then empty cache and/or purge files if you use any CDN hosting service then check again.

Firstly congratulations on the theme, it’s amazing, had long been looking for something similar. I write for several doubts or problems (sorry for my english):
1. When I load the page appears to me as the web in text mode (better to see the pictures). I have enabled the Speed Boster (I have not installed the W3 Total Cache plugin or another similar, and most plugins have deactivated). Add Boster Speed settings. I simply put the configuration of the demo theme.
2. On the iPhone, in principle, no such thing happens in 1. Unfortunately I cannot recommend you a plugins and also guarantee it will work fine as I’m not sure I understand what you want to do but you can search the web for a plugin that fulfills your needs and try it.

Try them and see if you can achieve what you need using one of them.

When i am at full screen and i have many options menu is still now increasing its height, if i restore the browser window to a smaller size it works. I am sending you a picture to see what i mean.

Yup. Just pointing out that sticky bar doesn’t work on an iPad on the DEMO when you use it online, so technically it’s not offered to work that way at the outset. I fully tested it on my iPad before buying so I would know how it actually works on an iPad. So, it’s not a “bug” or something to be “corrected” as an error. Would be nice to be added as feature request.

That’s the Newspaper theme, not the Newsmag theme, you’re linking to.
Newsmag has a border around all sides, as seen in the demo, which is part of the design element. I didn’t see any demo pages with “full width bottom” … this theme isn’t designed that way; it’s more of a magazine boxed layout, than a bootstrap “everything touches all sides” layout.
You would likely need to do your own custom mods to the footer to make it “full width” by adding a container outside the main grid. You can, of course, hack any theme to modify it to your tastes, but generally most theme developers don’t provide support on custom programming outside of the “design” they are offering; hence the full demo of the site on ThemeForest.
I don’t work here; this is just an opinion. And I apologize if that’s only annoying. 🙂
I do not criticize the template. I’m not looking to force errors. But if it is glued SiteBar demo version is expected to computers on the mobile versions. It is a pity that you have to buy to be convinced of this, about what should be obvious – is not it?

HI, just as a quick note, the theme is responsive; the sticky “sidebar” option has nothing to with responsive, which refers to the site changing to fit the viewport which it does really well.
A sticky element is a usability feature. The sticky sidebar doesn’t work on the iPad on the demo, so always a good idea to fully test a theme by playing with the demo on your desired device — not sure why it’s a “bug” if the demo doesn’t show that feature, then likely the version you install won’t either. Not a criticism or defending the theme, just clarifying for anyone who sees a similar “problem” or searches this forum on this topic.
I actually like the way the sticky menu bar works on the iPad …. where it hides, but then reappears when you start to scroll back up on the page.
However, I do *agree* it would be NICE to have the “sticky sidebar” work also on the iPad while in portrait mode. I would add this to a “request” for future updates. Not a hyper critical thing, but would be nice usability feature 🙂
