But to be honest with you, your site is running pretty fast as-is. The lightbox you’re using could be faster but most come with different styles or methods and simply switching that around could make the difference, or optimizing your images. So yes, you have an unknown issue with speedbooster that’s not tied to your lightbox plugin but speedbooster isn’t gaining you any ground anyway. Nice site sir.

I bought this theme few days ago and after removing a lot of the crap plugins i had before changing to this theme that already came with this theme my site is faster then ever before.

To make your site fast try to use less plugins and add your site to cloudflare where will boost your site grade also.

HI, if you have the tagDiv speed booster plugin installed, it will appear in your list of plugins ๐Ÿ˜‰

You can find it in the full download from Theme Forest for the theme (the folder with all the extra stuff like docs, psd bits, etc., in the “plugins” folder).

With Yslow, you’ll never get a perfect “numerical” score unless you load SOMETHING off a CDN someplace as they seem to think everybody should do that, even if it’s not faster for some stuff. But GTMetrix will “explain” why the score is what it is in detail. But you can still get an “A” for fixing everything else where possible. ๐Ÿ™‚

It might be helpful (*HEY MARIUS!*) to add something to the docs for the theme install, perhaps on the ‘how to speed up website’ section, that spells out WHERE the plugin actually is – even though most folks SHOULD have looked at what was in the folder for the theme (ahem) before installing the theme.

First, Not Setting -> Media with 3 size, I mean auto regenerate from newspapers theme.
http://i.imgur.com/xfo0cAB.jpg
or
http://i.imgur.com/VGPEY3m.jpg

I know this theme regenerate a lot of image size for every block style but for other than featured image, it cause a ton of unused images in website.

My site collect over 60 – 100 images per post so increase inodes to limit faster, I use other ways to reduce number of crop size
โ€ข DNUI plugin – I used 2 month ago, good plug-in to remove unused image without update 2 years. but now it cause problem to database and slow my website to crash.
โ€ข Image cleanup plugin – can’t remove because image “ref” to theme (see first image above)
โ€ข Free Host for Pic – Good choice but not answers.

Question
1. Possible regenerate size only feature image or not regenerate all images and use other plug-in create thumbnail instead ?

2. Is some plugin can regenerate thumbnail images (not featured) from upload file via FTP ? (prevent regenerate size by theme)

3. some plugin can remove unused image (except DNUI and image cleanup) ?

My personal thinking is that if sharedcount is going out and grabbing the data for you, and then you’re grabbing data from them, it seems to be an obvious slowdown.

Since you’re using the (apparently) ‘free/unauthenticated API’ you not only have to contend with the 10,000 queries limit, but are also in the pool with all other free users, and obviously this is a slowdown someplace, perhaps it’s fetching the graphic before service code which would introduce delay for it to fetch that and serve back to you; dunno.

You might pay for one month trial on their upgraded “PLUS” plan to get the better connection?

I’d likely do a split test among services
1) theme built-in features
2) what you’re using now
3) AddThis Sharing (or ShareThis if you prefer)

Run speed tests with GTMetrix or something and measure the speed FROM THAT API compared to speed of other methods, and go with what is faster.

Marius/Radu may have better answer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi TagDiv!

Big thanks for the very nice wordpress-theme and your work with evolution and support.

I have a request/question for the mobile menu, if it would be possible options in future versions.

1 – A design-option to change the “dotted menu-button” to “3 line button” if its possible. My personal thinking it that it looks better ๐Ÿ™‚

2 – A design option to change from left-side to right-side for the menu mobile. Its work better and faster for right-handed users. And several new design-reports says a right-placed menu for mobile/smaller screens works better.

Thats my two questions for mobile menu.

Many thanks
Niclas

Anything that connects to multiple external systems and has to get a response will slow down the site; everything like recaptcha, jetpack, adsense, social plugins which “go out an get data and then bring it back to cache” and similar — all slow things down since it’s not happening “locally.” (As I’m sure you already know.) You would likely disable the theme’s function to “count” reads/shares from other sites, and try using something like AddThis which can also do this for you. Ironically, the reason the calls to the APIs in the functions.php is done to avoid having to use external plugins and for most of us makes site run faster than using external plugs. But every site is different, and part of the development process is picking/choosing how to add/adjust things on page for best user experience and performance.

Note also that WP-Postview was updated this week to address issues folks were having with Ajax and Cache, so might be worth revisiting that setup with new version.

Not sure if that helped at all, but my two cents.

I found a similar post to this in the forum, but can’t find it again (even using the search bar as well), sorry for posting it again.

Is there a cache plugin that works with 7 day post sorting? As i’d like to keep the ‘Most Popular’ section but make the site run faster and use less resources.

I’m looking at ‘W3 total cache’ but it seems like people have the same problem with this in the situation i want to use it in.

Thanks again.

Hi Radu, it would be a lot great if we could personalize or style the popup box and if we can have the functionality to add the pop up box on particular pages. I mean, if we could select the pages or post, where we want to display the pop up box. Also, here is one more suggestion, please add a functionality where we can add subscription box on the bottom of a post, like they’re doing in some posts on Mashable. Thanks for giving us such a great theme. And please discuss this with your team because it will solve most of the users problem and it will also help your theme sell faster, although you guys are doing really well these days. Congrats.

Will this be fixed in a future update? I don’t want to ude the fb plugin, because the custom code is mutch faster and cleaner. Is there a temporarily fix for this?

Hi,
You can use More stories box to bring new content visitors, and you can set it appear faster http://screencast.com/t/GO0b0MbuQ
To set this go to Theme panel -> Post settings http://screencast.com/t/Eo7vtRa0CQAt

For post counter follow this steps if you use a caching plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/wp-postviews-post-view-counter-alternative-for-w3-total-cache/

See the pagespeed topic for more information on optimizing your site. This is not specifically unique to this theme – it’s an issue with *all* websites and WordPress.

Start here

You might need to do some custom work, such as found in the theme documentation:

Hello #nowsathkwt

be sure you do this
1) https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
page cache, speed booster plugin beta
2) add the elements to htaccess file for expires headers, caching, etc.
3) make sure your server had gzip/deflate compression
4) install image optimize plugin, or change default compression in functions.php, re-render your images for compression
5) run speed test at GTmetrix (etc.); fix suggestions

Your site
http://gtmetrix.com/reports/connectkuwait.com/j8vmwWPR

note issues
* you don’t have expires headers on your site content; you need to add those to your htaccess file per my recommendations in this topic thread
* need to optimize images further
* you won’t be able to fix the stuff you’re loading off other sites like the .me.uk domain which is responsible for many of your “rating errors” — you’re loading images, CSS, JS and such from many other sites, and these all slow down your site and don’t meet the current optimization standards.

Dear support,

I bought the tagDIv ‘newspaper’ theme at themeforest a few weeks ago.
A few days after i saw that there was a update of the theme (V3?). it’s faster, has new features, etc. I thought it would be updateable in wordpress just like any other add-on/plug-in.

How can i implement this update? because if i would’ve known i would have waited with the purchase.

I don’t really have any FTP knowledge, so if there’s an option to update it at wordpress it would be prefered.

Also al the support video’s are shown on the new lay-out or anyway not in the version of the theme i have. It’s simular, but not the same.

Hello,
I’m sorry but this is a little tricky to be implemented, is still on our todo list but not a high priority, if you want faster you can find a freelancer or a developer that will make it for you faster. We recommend to search one here: http://www.microlancer.com

Thanks for understanding.
Have a nice day!

@adgower
I think the query is for using web-safe fonts which don’t load remotely off Google’s CDN.

Some of us wish to use only web-safe fonts for faster page load, and not having to load “fancy fonts” from Google which can be tricky to optimize for PageSpeed Insights.

This is typically the reason for wanting Arial/Verdana, and/or Georgia, Seghoe UI, Trebuchet, etc.

I’m waiting for 3.01 to install, personally, so don’t have any specific advice on how to customize the fonts to web-safe, although that was on Radu’s confirmed ‘to do’ list.

I use Post Thumbnail Editor ( plugin )
It works very well, much faster then edit the image in photoshop ๐Ÿ™‚ it take max 20 sec. ๐Ÿ™‚

simchris

The demo is likely using the elements that Radu recommends from the thread:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

So, make sure you’ve done all that. And adding the elements to your htaccess is good practice for ALL wordpress sites (all websites in general really), and the theme can’t fix issue with web hosting, caching, headers for expiration, et al.

Note also in his demo he’s not using adsense (Google Ads), recaptcha for comments, some social media hogs, or plugins that abusively insert additional not-needed CSS files in the header. SO, generally for your own speed optimization, presume to turn anything OFF which inserts bad behavior stuff (like, ironically Google’s own ad stuff much of the time).

But the page Radu has (linked above) tells you the basics of what he did to optimize the theme.

Speed - reply

Hi,
I think a VPS would be overkill unless you are making a living from your blog or intend to host multiple blogs and want “total control” of your environment. Nice to have “room” to try different themes, sites, domains, etc., without having to sign up for a “domain based” account someplace. If you do choose a host, look for one that supports mod_pagespeed and also knows what wordpress is ๐Ÿ˜‰

For a CDN, likely not needed unless the host is terribly slow (for example, a slow $5/month hosting plan plus $1/month CDN can be cheaper than $10/month plan, in theory).

For us, a CDN is useful as folks in NY or Canada can get stuff loaded faster when we’re in Calif., and servers are in Texas. It does seem to help as the CSS/JS/images all load from closest “edge” location. Again, usually more necessary for a business case than a blog case (my magazine sites don’t make any money really; they’re a bit of a hobby side thing from our main company business which does rely on high “availability” hence the fun I am personally having right now optimizing shtml/ssi pages in one place and WordPress everywhere else … each need different tweaks… ).

Obviously a host with “point of presence” in Norway is best choice. You don’t want to be loading pages from Texas when your audience is in Norway. I have not used BlueHost. We use SoftLayer to have a full server here in U.S., but that’s totally different from what you need.

Here’s the link to the specifics of the speed achieved by Radu and Co. for theme (keep in mind this is with no AdSense or certain funky Facebook boxes which lower scores due to issues with the code being injected, and not issue with the theme):

(OFFICIAL)
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Once you do that, then you may want to look at all the shared posts in the pagespeed topic, specifically my shared elements to put in your .htaccess file, if not there already.
