Hello,

You did not even read what i am trying to do. Mobile responsive header is different from desktop header. In Desktop you can modify header via tagdivComposer in mobile there is no such option for that. So i need to modify the template. I know where to do that in plugin but i am aksing you if there is a cleaner way to do this insted of changing core files in plugins? To be honest your theme is the first that i see that theme files are in plugin which is not good practice.

Kind Regards,

Hi helderkamei, if the images are displaying on desktop and you use the responsive version, those will display on mobile too. but if you are using the mobile theme plugin then on mobile will be display thumbs with “265×198” and the “741×486” size, if you want you can check all details about mobile theme plugin in our documentation from here -> https://i.imgur.com/V8Udotk.png -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
With Newsmag theme the only way to have a different version for mobile is using the mobile theme plugin, unfortunately, this do not have to many options.
Also using the Image box you can set between 1-4 images -> https://i.imgur.com/1wcYW79.png and those will automatically adjust, now if you have only one image and you want to make it smaller you can use a row or inner row and chose a design -> https://i.imgur.com/8EqQJlT.png -> https://i.imgur.com/qCMb6eH.png then just drag and drop there the image. Another option is to set on image an width in css tab -> https://i.imgur.com/Xm6OdF2.png
Hope this will help you!

AMP issues - topic

Hi guys, we are trying to get rid of AMO issues reported by the Google Search console.

FIRST ISSUE:

The first thing we are trying to do is to see if switching to a mobile theme that supports AMP help. And we are having issues even with this step. Please take a look.

– The latest version of TagDiv mobile AMP theme is installed and enabled: https://imgur.com/a/VSUYIJX
– The ‘just AMP’ version is activated in theme settings.
The problem with this is even with all those settings are enabled Google AMP checker shows this for posts:
https://imgur.com/a/yImxwab (None Amp page submitted)

So question number 1:
Why with AMP settings enabled Google still says that it is a NON-AMP page?

SECOND ISSUE:

If I go to AMP plugin settings and enable this one: https://imgur.com/a/qO9aoyU and then set Template mode to Standard (https://imgur.com/a/867MSM4) then the mobile version of the website breaks down completely and doesn’t load at all – it either shows this https://imgur.com/a/niDK5M1 or doesn’t show anything and displayed just a white page with nothing on it.

WHAT WE NEED:

We need:
1. Pure AMP mobile theme enabled
2. The the website loads correctly
3. Pages pass google amp checker – https://search.google.com/test/amp

Please let us know how this can be fixed.

Hello,

Can you please tell me how to modify mobile header to be able to add custom icon after search icon? I know i can modify the core file “tdb_mobile_search.php” to manually add hyperlink with image but i don’t think that is the good choice because if i update theme the files that i have changed will be overwritten. Is there a better and nicer way to add icon to mobile header? Maybe via child theme? If yes how?

Hello,

Please make sure that you have activated the proper thumbs for the mobile theme. The mobile theme requires the “265×198” and the “741×486” thumbnail sizes in order to show the featured images properly.
This can be found here: https://www.screencast.com/t/N18dR3qZrh
The ad box has 3 sections for ads: using theme panel ads -> https://i.imgur.com/KFa9ibl.png, using images/banners -> https://i.imgur.com/MfAPTaE.png and custom code -> https://i.imgur.com/2rh8SuD.png save it and will appear on the post (you can set a shortcode like a shortcode from adrotate plugin or other plugins)

Thank you!

It’s only happening on mobile device.

My site is experiencing less that desirable performance, especially on mobiles. A GTmetrix report points to several newspaper theme files as causes. Please refer to the attached images and suggest what can be done to fix the problem.

My site is on a temporary domain. But my question is this: I loaded the Newspaper Theme in WordPress and it gives me a message that there is no mobile page. It saids: No mobile page or create a new mobile page. Am I missing a page? I assumed this came with a mobile format.

Hello!

If you want a responsive version of your website which is looking similar like on desktop, then you need to deactivate Mobile Theme, then please edit the page with TagDiv Composer, click on the mobile viewport: https://www.screencast.com/t/XDQJedlggSB and there you can see your mobile version.
Also, you can create mobile pages and assign for your mobile version, so your mobile version will display a design how you built in mobile pages.

Thank you!

Hello!

If you created the mobile pages with TagDiv Composer, then when you install Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin.
The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with its own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. For more details, please take a look here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Better deactivate the plugin and see the results.

Thank you!

Hi,

I’ve installed the Gossip Demo for my Newspaper theme. Spent days to get it running, but then when I check my website on mobile, none of the modifications got applied to it. I’m not tech savvy. Please help!

Hello,

I’ve been going mad over this one. When I apply a child-theme across the sites, I am getting odd behaviour where the mobile viewport reacted site gets pulled to the left and the logo appears to be shifted off-screen too.

Screenshot-2021-03-24-EN-Just-another-wpmu-test-Sites-site

It seems to happen when applying child-themes, if I re-activate the parent theme, it’s back to normal.

Please, god tell me you’ve seen this behaviour before, it’s been plaguing me for some time and I thought I had it resolved, but nope. Currently, I am in maintenance mode as I was performing a massive upgrade. This happening with child-themes is a show stopper.

For instance on the project website, fresh install of Newspaper, if I apply the version 9c child-theme you supply on some sites it will break like the above on others it applies ok.

For the demo image, I posted above. I created a fresh demo multi-site instance, tried version 9c child-theme on all subsites and it was fine. Added and applied my project child theme, and that’s how I took the picture of the bug.

The behavior is so badly intermittent, I’ve been desperately trying to track it down. There is nothing within the project child-theme css that causes this and have seen it working fine on some sites. Even if I remove all the css from the child-theme it still pulls to the left! It’s just because a child-theme is applied that it happens. No settings imported, everything standard.

Please, I am desperate for an answer as I currently on the clock in maintenance mode holding back 100k’s of visitors for the past few days. I’m totally out of options now and pray to God you’ve encountered this behavior before?

Kind regards,

Richard

Hello !

At the moment you are running mobile theme plugin. AMP is not active. If you want other layout on your mobile devices you will need to remove the Mobile theme plugin.

Hello,

If you have a mobile page you can adjust it with tagDiv Composer, and you can delete some components, but if you use the mobile responsive, you can only hide them from tab called “CSS” select the viewport phone and select the element and after hide it => https://www.screencast.com/t/Of08s58KJi
This is a video about Responsive Newspaper Theme, Mobile Pages & Templates https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY

Hello !

If you are using Mobile Theme + AMP you will have to add the code in Theme Panel – Mobile Theme: https://www.screencast.com/t/hgxj5I6Dl

If you are using AMP without mobile theme plugin you need to insert the code in Theme Panel – Custom Code – Advanced CSS: https://www.screencast.com/t/HtJKmUPQA9mk

Thank you !

the sign in and join button on mobile include the top header login can be adjusted I just need some clarification as to where the theme needs to be modified as I can do this. I don’t need any technical support just some guidance on the modification and that’s not asking for a lot. I’m simply asking which theme files need to be adjusted and I can create the hooks and redirects as necessary. Please provide me this information asap. Thank you.

Hello,

The AMP will not increase your page speed on mobile.
If you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here: https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ you’ll be able to increase the speed of your website.
Also, to increase the page speed you can check these similar topics for more solutions:

Please note that page speed is not covered by the support team: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/
Please give it a try and follow the steps which I presented above about page speed.
Also, check our guide from here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Hi,

If you want to can use the mega menu on mobile like in our demos, then you must disable the mobile theme plugin, the mobile theme plugin is an extra mobile theme that we provide to be used on mobiles, this is lighter and will not display the pages and also the mega menu will not work.
To have the mega menu o mobile use the responsive version and make sure that is set as in our guide from here https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/ make sure that you have added a category and this is made as a mega menu -> https://i.imgur.com/AkAcmIa.png or if it is a custom link make sure that this has a link to a category -> https://i.imgur.com/7Li5EHe.png then when you are on mobile on a mega menu without subcategories, you’ll be redirected to the category set -> https://i.imgur.com/WBIDooS.png, also if it is a mega menu with subcategories it will be displayed on mobile a sub-menu with the subcategories ->https://i.imgur.com/gXDlZty.png
Hope this will help you to understand how our mega menu is working with the theme and mobile theme plugin.

Thank you!
