Hi,

The front page on mobile when the mobile plugin is active, will display a top grid containing posts from the Featured category
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/
On the bottom of the front page there will be displayed a Latest article section, containing posts from all your categories.
Content for the mobile pages is limited to the mobile editor and what can be achieved with it, this is the way the mobile theme was designed for the best possible performance on mobile devices

Thanks

Ah
I got it wrong
I was thinking it will show up in the mobile menu not in the header.
Separate menu for header like many themes do is something you should consider for future updates.
It really deosn’t make sense the way it is now.
Great theme with so many features but the menu spoils the whole thing

Hello Maharshi Patel,

Sorry for this but please notice that our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to do this, sorry! The mobile search mode has been designed to fit exactly the mobile devices and it’s so hard to change this functionality, sorry! You should edit the theme core files and make some adjustments in order to achieve as you wish but please notice that is not so easy and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this case, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

There was an issue with the mobile theme functionality in the previous update, please follow this topic for more information
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/mobile-tabs-not-loading/
You could try a fresh theme install by FTP using the latest theme package
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Thanks

Hi,

I have inspected your website on mobile, but there is no issue whatsoever with the mobile menu functionality at the moment
https://www.screencast.com/t/ojntVGLZsGV
https://www.screencast.com/t/LcXb6t8W25C
The menu is opened as soon as the hamburger icon is clicked. There are no errors present on the page as well. It could have been a plugin that caused it. If you deactivated all the plugins except theme provided plugins, please try to enable them one at a time and hopefully identify the one responsible.

Thanks

I am using the newspaper theme and I notice in the plugins section it shows me the premium plugins and recommends that I install tagDiv Composer showing me ‘required’ however when I try and activate this it says ‘The plugin does not have a valid header.’ As an optional I have been able to install the ‘Visual Composer’ plugin and wanted to ask whether this is correct. I have been able to successfully install the other plugins listed: tagDiv Social Counter, Revolution Slider and tagDiv mobile theme. Do you have any idea why I cannot install the tagDiv Composer.

Can you please tell me how to fix the bug where the mobile menu is unresponsive for 20-30 seconds when every page loads? This issue makes the theme essentially useless.
Note:
* I have already disabled all plugins and cleared the cache and this did NOT fix the issue.
* I have re-downloaded V8.1 of the theme from Envato and re-installed it via FTP and this did NOT fix the issue.
* I have not made any code or functionality changes to the theme.

The site with the issue is: http://skunkology.com/
Many thanks.

I already have this figured out. I do need to compose page contents for mobile separately or remove the plugin if I want to show the same content as the desktop view.

To do it quickly, I just used the Categories for Mobile Menu.

Now, 1 more question. How can I show Recent Post of certain category on mobile theme content? Thank you

Hello,

I’m having a little problem, Google Webmaster Tools and the browser reports me an internal error 500 for the theme’s folder URL (/wp-content/themes/Newspaper). How can i fix it?

Furthermore i have noticed that in the last update 8.1 of Newspaper is missing an important file (themes/Newspaper/mobile/js/tagdiv_theme.js) that is needed to make work the mobile top menu bar. I’m actually using the file of Newspaper version 8.0.

Thanks in advance.

Wellll…. all our news is in Google News, and has been since 2005, without AMP 😉

And luckily AMP doesn’t create duplicate content issues, since the canonical link is designed just for that purpose and the AMP version links back to the real version to solve that (same way a print template does). With our old CMS on our big site, not using WP, and generating static shtml pages), we has static print and AMP pages, and both had canonical links, and the AMP template was built off the print template since there were not AMP plugins when we got started on that (and the main site didn’t use WP at that time, but now does).

For our news pages now (not using TD theme, but custom thing), we can load up the full news story with 2 images, logos, content, queries for related stories, etc., in 1.3 sec fully loaded. AMP version is quicker. But a scaled back print version would be just as quick.

All about the payload.

And with move to PHP7 + http/2 the speed will be even faster.

I guess we’re thinking over here that http/2 with a lean template would be better than AMP for user speed on mobile in the coming year. We’re playing with this anyway.

Doesn’t solve the page count issue — but of course Google wants you to run GA on AMP, and so that might even be the only truly workable solution for metrics on AMP pages.

Anyway — back to work before Labor Day holiday here …. cheers 🙂

Hello Nano,

Write a simple plugin for functions.php, and add your custom codes there. The plugin will auto put your custom code to the both main and mobile theme’s functions.php. So whenever you update the theme, you don’t need to edit functions.php file.

For style.css, you can use theme panel to add custom codes. You can force write the rule by adding an important tag.

For fonts, it seems you’re using Poppins bold for headlines and the default fonts for the rest of the site. You can create own.woff file for the Poppins bolt and use it with custom fonts file option in the theme panel.

Hope this will help you.
All the best

The mobile hamburger menu is unresponsive for 20-30 seconds every time a page loads. It looks like even though the page content loads reasonably quickly and all the links work as soon as they render, something is trying to load in the background that is preventing the mobile menu from working. Sometimes it just stalls and never works.
Is this the bug I’ve read about on the forums where the wrong package was uploaded to Envato and the theme needs to be redownloaded and reinstalled?
If so, what happens when I delete the theme and replace it with a new version? Will my custom pages be lost and all the tweaks I’ve made from the theme panel?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Please provide more details if you have problems with the ads on your website. If you use Adsense enter the code in the section you want
https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-adsense-overview/
If you use the mobile theme, this has it’s own ad section in the theme panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Please note that there also is a waiting time period, before the ads will be displayed, according to Google up to several weeks
https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/76228?hl=en

Thanks

I think the amp endpoint function is related to changing the ‘endpoint’ — such as if you wanted /ac/ vs /amp/ or /mobile/ or whatever.

Sorry I don’t have perfect answer.

On another site, with a custom lean theme, we have it added to the /amp/ endpoints, but we’re using the venerable WP-Postviews plugin.

in this context, the function we have is this:
do_action( 'amp_post_template_head', 'process_postviews' );

Hello,

If you use the mobile theme, then the style will be a predefined one. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Thank you!

Hi,

Files from the mobile folder cannot be modified through the child theme at the moment. The elements that can be modified are mentioned in the child theme tutorial.
Those files can only be modified in the main theme.

Thanks

We’ve been using the Automattic AMP plugin with TagDiv themes for almost 2 years now, since AMP was in beta, and works perfectly for us. Yes, you have to RTFM to modify the template, but that’s true of any custom post format, really. Simple to add adverts, and related posts, etc. — anything which can be done as a function, or added as a shortcode, will work. Worth playing with. Beauty of the ‘official’ plugin is that it’s built by same folks as WordPress and used for the VIP customers.

And not everybody is choosing to use AMP. If you have a lean fast mobile theme or responsive layout, it can work as well. AMP is an interim form until WiFi hits the next speed grade. So, in areas with slow mobile, AMP is useful, in major metro areas, not as much.

Anyway – sorry to butt in…. waiting for crap to download off my server. 🙂

I just want to drop a note to say how pleased I am that I moved to Newspaper. It is an excellent theme, and has improved both the look and the functionality of my site.

It took me a little while to get used to the block setup, and to customize things to my liking. But now that I have, I am quite content with the look and feel, and I get compliments regularly on the site. The mobile theme is also excellent, and since I get an increasing amount of my traffic via mobile, that is a critical feature for me.

No question here, and no need for a reply. Just wanted you all to know that I consider the money I spent on this theme to be some of the best money I’ve ever spent.

Thank you for clearing my doubts. One last thing:
How to deal with styles.css and functions.php that are under ‘mobile’ folder and created specifically when the website is viewed on mobile devices. Should I simply copy functions.php and style.css after creating a new directory ‘mobile’ under child theme?

Above I am talking about the mobile related folder of main theme, not about td mobile theme which we need to install as a plugin.

Thanks.

Hi,

At the moment, I believe there are no plans to implements something like this. It could be available in future updates, but I could not say exactly if or when it will happen.
The theme package includes an optional mobile theme plugin that is optimized for mobile devices

Thanks

Hello,

Sorry but the mobile theme only kicks in when a mobile device is detected. It cannot show up in the customizer.

Thanks.

Hello,

Please add this css to your movile theme custom code section:

.td-footer-logo{
display:none;
}
.td-footer-description{
display:none;
}
.td-footer-social .block-title{
display:none;
}
.td-mobile-footer-wrap{
padding-top:1px;
padding-bottom: 38px;
}

There is no way to make it narrower unfortunately as there are containers there that hold the height of the footer and it will require code modifications in the php files in order to assign particular classes to these containers so they can be targeted with css. It will involve quite a bit of custom work just to get it a bit narrower.

Thank you!
