Greetings,

Are there any Mobile optimization tricks for Newsmag theme? I noticed that Newspaper has a Mobile Theme and I was wondering if you guys have something similar for Newsmag also. I know it’s mobile responsive but still there are things that work better if they are designed/customize just for Mobile. For instance let’s say you want to have less blocks or articles and small photos for the mobile version to help with the site performance and speed.

What are your suggestions for Newsmag when it comes to Mobile and are you going to also release a Mobile Theme in the nearest future?

Thank you so much!

Hi,

I was just wondering what the recommendations are for the theme to make sure it is loading as fast as possible. According to Google’s PageSpeed Insights my website scores pretty low. Mobile averages around 50-55 and desktop is around 60-65. I’ve tried testing no preloading, optimized preloading and preload all on the mega menu preloader but it hasn’t done much with the scores.

Is there another way to optimize the blocks that I am currently using?

Hi. I have two different problems, but somehow related, with my website.

I have detected both problems only using iPhone; they do not appear on Android.

Before commenting on the issues, I’m going to leave some data on my website: I use the “Newspaper” theme with WordPress 4.8.1. Problems only appear on iPhone (mobile); they do not appear using the “tgdiv mobile plugin” version, but I prefer to use responsive design before using the tgdiv mobile plugin.

I have also disabled all plugins, but the problems continue.

First problem: Using an iPhone, if the visitor climbs up, the main menu bar (which is fixed) turns black. I attached these screenshots to show the problem:

Support Forum Screenshot 1

Second problem: Using an iPhone, if the visitor accesses a category (which are configured with the “Style 6”, the background image of the category “excels” above the menu bar if the visitor climbs up. I attached these screenshots to show the problem:

Support Forum Screenshot 2

My question: is there any CSS or similar code, or some plugin or something to fix these two problems?
Thank you.

(Please excuse my English; English is not my mother tongue).

Hi guys, I’ve got a problem with the “load more” feature on the category pages.
Search console keeps on reporting me 404 errors because it can’t find the /page/2/ urls
My guess is that these URLs come from the mobile theme (which doesn’t have load more on category pages).
Why aren’t the /page/2/, /3/, etc. redirected on desktop?

Thanks!

Hello,

I am really happy with the mobile theme (using the mobile plugin).
However, there is one thing I want to customize.

On the mobile theme, the first 3 posts’ featured images are stretched out to the full width and the height of the images get shorter.
Which looks like this https://yahoo.jp/box/5MXsZ2

Well, it is perfectly fine but what I want to do is showing the center of the pictures not the top part.

For example, here is the original picture : https://yahoo.jp/box/zAH-Ld

And this is the picture showing now : https://yahoo.jp/box/2DFvxq

And this is what I want it to show : https://yahoo.jp/box/F2Xjcb

It would be great if you can give me some advise.

Hi Catalin,

Thank you! I have disabled mobile theme plugin and the page is loading fine. Still I have below issue;
1. Entire content moving Horizontal with white space
2. Category pagination showing 404 error.

I am going to create a child theme and install the GTM snippet in the header.php. My question is, I noticed two header.php files in the Newspaper theme:

1. header.php
2. mobile/header.php

To ensure that the GTM snippet is globally placed site-wide for all devices (Mobile/Tablet/Desktop…) do I need to place the GTM snippet in both header.php files?

I had disabled all plugins per suggestions on forum and updated newspaper 8 theme and it’s plugins. The Mobile Theme was previously working when I first installed it but now it doesn’t work completely. Jetpack mobile theme has always been disabled, don’t use Yoast.

Problem in the footer by mobile. I do not know what happened, but when I see my site on my cell phone, the footer does not appear and a get_footer () appears;

What could have happened to the theme?

Hi there,
I have recently bought Newspaper 8, which I absolutely love, so firstly thank you for that!
I’m having a little problem with the mobile version. I have installed the mobile plug-in, activated it and set up the features I want in the theme panel, which work brilliantly on the mobile if you use the desktop version. However, when I switch to mobile version, the page seems to become stuck and not go to the correct format. Please could you take a look at it for me? It’s filmandtvnow.com

When I made the purchase of the Theme, I thought it was totally responsive in the mobile version, so the “Top Menu Bar” should rather appear.

Newspaper <b>Theme</b>

I would like to know how I will put such a menu in the mobile version of the site, considering that the content contained in it is extremely important to the user visiting the site.

Thank you

Hi,

Please try entering this ode in Theme panel->Mobile theme->Custom CSS section

.td-post-content a {
word-wrap: break-word;
}

Then check if the links are displayed properly on mobile. The code should fix the issue

bit of a head scratcher this.

my mobile theme navigation/pagination is all over the shop, and not consistently.

examples:-

using the next arrow or page 2/3 from the bottom of the home page of the mobile menu, all open a random post. always the same post. but a post, not the next page of posts.

using the burger menu, it is all using categories. some are returning 404s, though i have double checked in the menu, and they are correctly configured.

some categories are working, but then the pagination is doing the same thing, i.e. going to post.

some categories are working and pagination is working.

because some are working and some are not, it leaves me a bit perplexed. hoping somebody out there may have some ideas.

i’ve turned the mobile theme off for time being.

wp 4.8.1, php 7.1, newspaper 8.0, hummingbird with cloudflare (all caches cleared)

thanks

Hi,

If you use the mobile theme plugin, you must display the forum like this on mobile pages

Hi,

If you want to have the post title with a smaller font size just for mobile, you could use a code like this for example
https://www.screencast.com/t/EXKEqCfjO3
Entering it in Theme panel->Custom Code->Advanced CSS in the phones section will apply it only on smaller devices

.single .td-post-header header .entry-title {
font-size: 22px;
}

To add some space above the header ad try a code like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/DcH7Gslrq7

.td-header-sp-recs {
margin-top: 3px;
}

Thanks

Hi,

At the moment that is possible only with a plugin. The theme does not offer this by default. There is a mobile theme plugin included in the package that you can use, optimized for mobile devices
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/

Thanks

Hi,

Only when the mobile theme plugin is active there is the option to set a different menu on mobile. Content for the pages when this plugin is active is limited to the mobile editor. There is no possibility to display page editor elements in these mobile pages, or pages built with composers.

Thanks

Hello bokitchan,

There was a problem with the new update in regard to the functionality on mobile. Please download the theme package again and install it, the issue is fixed.
Or edit this file manually as shown in the screenshot, and modify it like this
https://www.screencast.com/t/WSi6wp4k
We are very sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused for you. Please let us know if you have any further problems with the mobile theme.

Thank you!

Hi,

That is not possible with the mobile theme plugin. The only way of displaying blocks and other page editor elements on mobile, is to deactivate the mobile theme. The mobile theme is designed to be as light as possible, it will not display these elements.

Thanks
