I am using Newspaper X on my wordpress site. I have set AMP “On” in my Google adsense account. So far I have not installed & activated any AMP plugin so AMP adsense ads are not working.

Can I installed & activate AMP plugin without installing Mobile theme plugin. What will be its benefits. What precautions I need to to take to do so as I don’t want my site to break. Also please tell what are the AMP plugin settings that I will need to do.

Thanks & Regards……. Renu Bakshi

Please advise can I install and activate Newspaper AMP plugin only without installing Newspaper mobile theme plugin . How the AMP plugin will benefit? What precautions I need to take before installing Newspaper AMP plugin and what settings I will need to do?

Hello Calin,

I have followed that guide for the super cache settings, however, I am still having the same problem with the google cache.

I have also seen many other websites having the same problem:
https://buddymantra.com/
https://prostobzor.com
https://www.techolac.com/

As you can see the google cache is showing the mobile version.

I have had the same cache settings for a few months now, so waiting for google to re-cache my website is not going to fix the problem

Thanks.

Can someone help me with speed optimization? After so many settings, my page speed is still below 40 for the mobile theme.

Hi,

Please provide me a link to your website to check this problem.
With out mobile theme plugin, you can edit the website layout using tagDiv Composer -> https://i.imgur.com/4Eo3PBZ.png also please note that if the 375×812 shows tablet then will display the table version, mobile version is until 767px -> https://i.imgur.com/FxFAGiK.png

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi aagrlp640,

The options from mobile plugin are similar with these from standard plugins -> https://i.imgur.com/WnHkyBC.png (for blocks) and this for articles -> https://i.imgur.com/PfVeY43.png

This will remove the author from your website on mobile theme and amp.
Thank you!

Hi,

You can use this custom css for breadcrumbs, category and title -> https://i.imgur.com/juxXAoU.png
.td-crumb-container, .single .td-category, .td-post-title {
margin-bottom: 25px;
}

The name of categories is suggestive for the elements that will be apply.

Using the css will be the best way, because when you’ll update the theme the settings in theme files will not be lost, but if you want the css file for mobile theme is this one -> wp-content/plugins/td-composer/mobile/style.css

Thank you!

Since the Update in May the cumulative layout shift caused by the newspaper theme is a serious problem because all my sites for desktop and mobile are marked as poor in the Google Search Console. I get different informations what is causing the cumulative layout shift when the elements are showing up in the viewport:

– missing container for the header-logo-image (desktop)
– div#td-top-mobile-toggle>i.td-icon-font>::before (mobile)
– <p style=”text-align: justify;”> (div.td-container>article#post-35>div.td-post-content>p (mobile)
– all font-awesome icons (flash because of unstyled content) (mobile, desktop)

and so on. The cumulative layout shift is part of the web core vitals introduced by Google with the last update. If a site fails the web vitals its very critical for the ranking in the google search. I don’t know what I should do anymore – it’s not possible to decrease the cumulative layout shift because the main issues are to find in the layout itself. Maybe you can offer some help.

Thank you very much, it works! But is there also a way to increase the spacing between the post title and the categories that are shown below the breadcrumbs?

But there is another problem, when I use the css code there – I increase the cumulative layout shift. Is there no way to insert the code in a php-file for the mobile version like style.css?

Thank you very much!

Hi,

I think that this is all about the device you are using, for example on desktop will look like this -> https://i.imgur.com/QhMHrS9.png but on tablets that has a low resolution -> https://i.imgur.com/QG2xAgp.png and on mobile it will be like this -> https://i.imgur.com/5Xkav0U.png
If this is not the problem, please provide some more details.

Thank you!

Hello !

On mobile at least your website is not reachable due to the amount of ads and redirects. Either you are using an ads plugin which is way to aggressive or your website is hacked. Your website is not safe for use. Please make sure that your website is secured and everything is in order. If you have not been aware of any of this I would recommend you to contact your host and fix this matter.

Thank you !

non-amp - topic

I have tested my site: https://www.starslands.com/
using this: https://search.google.com/test/amp?id=Wma8iXyoa7bET3kAr26I9g

and one of my post: https://www.starslands.com/madonna-gets-mocked-for-putting-up-sons-video/
using this: https://search.google.com/test/amp?id=X6N673kIZQXNzQO1x5KAjw

and it says that my site is not amp. – “This page isn’t an AMP. However, it references the following URL as its AMP version:”

I was under the impression that it should automatically choose the amp version for the user as I’m using mobile theme and defined as Mobile+AMP

Can you please suggest some assistance here, please.

Many thanks.

Hi I did deactivate all plugins except tagDiv plugins.
I still can’t see icons on the mobile theme. Please provide me the alternate solution.

The used symbols (font-awesome) are causing large layout shifts in Google Page Speed Insights and let the pages drop into a poor rating in the Google Search console. I think it’s exactly the problem that is mentioned here: https://blog.fontawesome.com/how-to-use-asynchronous-font-loading/

In the mobile theme the greatest problems are caused by the symbols for views, comments and also the > in the breadcrumps… Is there a way to remove the > in the breadcrumps? Is it div#td-top-mobile-toggle>i.td-icon-font>::before ?

I have already tried this and tried it now again but I the critical error persists and the mobile pages can’t be loaded anymore. When I move the metainfo back into the header it works again.

I just want to move the metainfo for views and author and the comments before the featured image, because they cause in the viewpoint a large cumulative layout shift because of the used font-awesome…

<article id=”post-<?php echo $td_mod_single->post->ID;?>” class=”<?php echo join(‘ ‘, get_post_class());?>” <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_item_scope();?>>
<div class=”td-post-header”>

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_category(); ?>

<header class=”td-post-title”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_title();?>

<?php if (!empty($td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings[‘td_subtitle’])) { ?>
<p class=”td-post-sub-title”><?php echo $td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings[‘td_subtitle’];?></p>
<?php } ?>

//metainfo moved to another position
</header>

</div>

<div class=”td-post-content”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_content();?>
<?php

// meta info after post content
<div class=”td-module-meta-info”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false,false);?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_comments();?>
<?php
if ( ! td_util::is_amp() )
echo $td_mod_single->get_views();
?>
</div>
// override the default featured image by the templates (single.php and home.php/index.php – blog loop)
if (!empty(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template)) {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template);
} else {
if (TD_THEME_NAME === ‘Newsmag’) {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(‘td_640x0’);
} else {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(‘td_696x0’);
}
}
?>

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing_top();?>

</div>

If I delete this part of the code: <div class=”td-module-meta-info”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false,false);?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_comments();?>
<?php
if ( ! td_util::is_amp() )
echo $td_mod_single->get_views();
?>
</div>

it seems that the lazy loading in the mobile version doesn’t work anymore…

And after trying to move them on the new position the text under the images in the mobile theme isn’t centered anymore…

If I move the meta-info after the featured image it works: but the text isn’t shown inline..

<article id=”post-<?php echo $td_mod_single->post->ID;?>” class=”<?php echo join(‘ ‘, get_post_class());?>” <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_item_scope();?>>
<div class=”td-post-header”>

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_category(); ?>

<header class=”td-post-title”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_title();?>

<?php if (!empty($td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings[‘td_subtitle’])) { ?>
<p class=”td-post-sub-title”><?php echo $td_mod_single->td_post_theme_settings[‘td_subtitle’];?></p>
<?php } ?>

</header>

</div>

<div class=”td-post-content”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_content();?>
<?php

// override the default featured image by the templates (single.php and home.php/index.php – blog loop)
if (!empty(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template)) {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(td_global::$load_featured_img_from_template);
} else {
if (TD_THEME_NAME === ‘Newsmag’) {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(‘td_640x0’);
} else {
echo $td_mod_single->get_image(‘td_696x0’);
}
}
?>

<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing_top();?>

</div>

<div class=”td-module-meta-info”>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_author();?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_date(false,false);?>
<?php echo $td_mod_single->get_comments();?>
<?php
if ( ! td_util::is_amp() )
echo $td_mod_single->get_views();
?>
</div>

I face a serious problem with one of my customers what I am using your theme Newspaper.

The search icon in the menu is not clickable. I am using a Cloud Template (Header Template 15).

The same problem is happening at smaller screens (mobile) and the Search Icon as well as the Menu (hamburger) icon are not clickable.

Also, in the main page, I guess that all problems are related, the pagination using ajax is not working.

Yes, I know, but that doesn’t work for the MOBILE THEME. How can I do this in the mobile theme. There is also a style.css – where I can increase the spacing there for the H1 and the breadcrumps?
