I deleted Google-font section in td_config.php

I Switched off social sharing network in theme panel.

I wonder what other websites the theme links to when visitors are visiting the front end? Is there a list, so I can check if other websites are ‘prohibited’?

From my observation in corner of browser, that fraction of a second of linking to googleapis… is gone. But I can’t recognise other links as it moves too fast. Or you have tips that I can check what the theme is linking to when visiting front end?

It is a button that a person clicks to share a internet connection line with others. I Googled it and its for sharing internet connection with others. Sharing a telephone line with others. Unless, he means something else. That is what I am getting from that. There is no plugin that offers that button.

Actually there is a plugin on WordPress depository, but it only works for mobiles. Not on desktops.

Just a feedback.

Just wana tell you that the same issue happened with another post template. I think it was template 3 or 4 (don’t remember) .. So may be you can test all post types in responsive mode without sharing option and fix it forever.

Nothing to do with theme; FB periodically has trouble capturing both images and the excerpt.

They added several months ago a new item to fix this where once you share something, click the “time ago” at top of the post box, then click right arrow at right of box and in the drop down to “refresh attachment” — this will recapture the text *and* image.

This issue is most common in the morning when their system is overloaded from so much sharing and their system capturing images and crunching them to their local data format.

Not much else you can do about it — FB doesn’t charge you to share stuff, for your FB page, etc., so about the only thing you are able to do is use their debug tool to ensure your OG and other tags are properly set.

Ok, so I commented it out and it looks like it fixed it…Please confirm though Chris if you can about using YOAST to solve the sharing fix they are describing

Chris, is this facebook sharing fix for videos not an issue because we are running YOAST (I’m running free version)?

Ideally l’d like the og:image tag to not be duplicated AND be able to post videos without issues on fb.

This is part of the single template code, found in single_template_#.php and the corresponding loop-single-##.php in the Newspaper theme folder.

single_template_## loads loop-single-##, which has this block:

Swapping those various lines around would do the trick.

The two robust ways to do this update are via a child theme or via the new theme API.

The theme API is a simple plugin that adds your custom templates, modules, blocks, etc. to the theme panel. I just switched most of my modifications that were in a child theme to the theme API, since child themes come with other complications and potential slowdowns.

In this case, you would (1) create a plugin folder, (2) find the template(s) you want to make this change in and copy both the loop-single-## and single_template_## files for those templates into your plugin folder, (3) edit them to swap the order of those elements, (4) add the code to register them in the main plugin file, and (5) upload and activate the plugin in your dashboard and switch your post templates in the theme panel.

If you wanted to do this via child theme instead, it would be less work but not quite as “robust”, at least in the opinion of some.

This time you would simply make your child theme as per that tutorial, copy the single templates in there, and edit and upload them and they would invisibly replace the ones that come with the theme.

P.S. Because that comment template code loading is in single_template_##, moving it to loop-single-## might work oddly. Or it might be fine. Haven’t tried it myself.

I don’t believe this is available without modifying the theme, but there are many great sharing plugins for WordPress that give you more flexibility. One that was made specifically for this theme is Sharify by Mehedi; that’s the one I use on my site.

Hi All,

I have same problem with Facebook share featured image.

After I check several of my post, All my articles after 1 august not showing facebook featured images (empty box with just site name/URL), and for all articles previous can show featured images. This condition applies to sharing from sharing button each article page and from automatic sharing via jetpack plugin.

FYI,
I using this theme since 27 august and update Newspaper theme on 31 july and most of my articles posted by schedule with random hours (sometimes in am. or pm.). so there is only 2 articles which managed a facebook featured image after I used this theme.
