Hi
Smart sidebar features is made by js and to change it you will need a new approach for it. The function which create the animation can be found here: http://screencast.com/t/OD0w4vugVz You can try to modify it but it’s quite difficult and some coding skills are required to complete the task.
If you can’t do it by yourself my advice is to look for someone who can help you with implementation as we can’t offer custom work at the moment.
Thanks!
Hi, I have +70 plugins in my websites and each of the plugins have it’s own CSS file. So, I am combining them into one sigle CSS file, so that I can speed up my website.
The point is that when I combine all my CSS into one single file, the Smart Sidebar stops working. It shows, but it doesn’t move anymore.
So, which is the CSS file of the Smart Sidebar? (this way I will no combine this file)
Hi,
Since we use a big banner on top of the article, we would like to move down the sidebar because otherwise our ads are overlapping, as you can see here: Picture
I tried someting like:
@media (min-width: 1000px) {
.td-ss-main-sidebar {
padding-top: 360px;
}
}
But this removes the smart function. Is there a way to move down the sidebar without losing the smart function?
Hello, I’d like you to help me with 4 questions:
1) In the header menu, the live search works well. But is there a way to implement it in another search boxes, for example, in the sidebar? The default WordPress search doesn’t seem to have this feature.
1.1) Due to the server and thousand of posts, the search takes a while to process the live results. Is there a way to insert a loading gif to show the user the content is beeing loaded? That would be just VERY helpful.
2) How do I enable smart snap only in the desktop version? I seems this feature doesn’t work well with mobile browsers, so it is going to be way better do disable it only in the mobile version (and let it sticky).
3) Some days ago, you answered me about changing the thumbnail sizes. But I couldn’t make it, can you please explain better where should I update/create the thumbnail code? I tried in functions.php but it didn’t work..
4) At last, could you give me directions to change the way “latest articles” are shown in the homage? The default template is Pagebuilder + latest articles + pagination, and I like that, but I would like to change the template, and display posts as a list.
Thank you in advance!
There is post posted in the forum on Oct 21, 2015, today is September 17, 2016 – 11 MONTHS! I had the same issue last week and WASTED 1 week working on trying to solve the problem. The images DO load SOMETIMES for a short time then disappear again.
Oddly, in the test site (www.testsite.inbishkek.com) using the magazine demo, everything works perfectly, after it was hand-copied to its home (www.inbishkek.com) and switched demos to the default demo (client wanted the text boxed) we’ve had nothing but problems with images being displayed on pages and posts. All settings are the same including plugins. Both the test site and home site work without problems on smartphones; Windows, Android (Google) and iOS (iPhone), as well as Windows 8.1 tablets, iPads and Android tablets. So the problem are not PLUGINS. It’s the code stupid!
Documentation about this problem cannot be found in the KNOWN BUGS or theme issues anywhere, just in a post in your forum – and I found this thread by chance! Instead of the bonehead advice from support to disable all plugins, I instead disabled lazy loading, and now the home page of the site seems to be working again on all PC based browsers, but only the FRONT PAGE has been working for the past hour. The problem is intermittent, it comes and goes randomly, so I’m not sure how long this will remain true.
The POSTS, however, still have issues. Only only some images showing up. So what could be the problem? Both sites are in the same domain, but test site is a subdomain – so that’s not the problem. 2 sites, same configuration except for the test site has lazy loading enabled – everything works perfectly. The home site, which was copied later after verification that it worked, and has had lazy loading from the beginning. We’ve disabled lazy loading on the home site and only the home page has no issues. We’ve created a “special page titled http://www.inbishkek.com/newspaper7-problems, please look at the screenshots, at the very least, visit the links before answering this query.
The screenshots are from identical post pages of the two sites. All images display correctly in the test site – the Huge IT slider and style 8 post, lazy loading was NEVER disabled. In the home site, before lazy loading was disabled, no post images, but sitewide sidebar displayed fine. With lazy loading disabled, images appear in the post but NOT the style 8 top image of your POST TEMPLATE and the Huge IT slider. This is happening in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Vivaldi browsers. In Safari and IE everything works on both site versions. WTF?
If the shit does not work for ALL browsers, at least get rid of the defective feature! Don’t make us waste our time researching for solutions, writing these stupid posts and waiting a couple of days for replies. We have better things to do!
It is troubling that developers continually tout a feature to speed up site loading, yet fail to FIX the problem after 1 year! NO it’s not a plugin conflict, it’s a issue with your CODE!
I think everyone is getting tired of these bullshit cookie cutter answers by lazy coders & developers; “This problem might be a plugin conflict. Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and then activate lazyload and see if the problem is still there.”
This crap advice/response not only pisses your customers off, but it negatively impacts site development deadlines we have committed to our clients! Will I recommend this theme for a client? Definitely not. If they want it, I’ll do my best to dissuade and steer them in another direction.

Hi,
Different smart lists have different implementation. If a html tag is open where the smart list needs to add a title or the post template needs to add a featured image or a different specific element, then it will break on that particular layout. On a different one it maybe does not affect structural elements and the sidebar will not be broken. Try to find the html error and then test different templates again. HTML works in mysterious ways sometimes 🙂
It the smartlist titles you need to be extra careful about. If for example you have an image inside a h3 tag that will mot likely break the layout as the smartlists need the h3 or the tag you set in order to create the titles.
Thanks
HI
I’ve checked your site again and found some js errors in browse’s console: http://screencast.com/t/1hoN7Soo This errors may affect theme’s functionality so try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test the site again. Also you can enable the smart sidebar from theme panel > template settings for posts: http://screencast.com/t/vvmA5nmWVmi This option will also make the sidebar sticky if you’re not using Visual Composer on pages. To make the sidebar sticky on pages where Visual Composer is used add td-ss-row class on the row as it’s indicated here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-smart-sidebar/
Thanks!
Okay..I continued researching and I found that it started woring because while doing some tweaks, I had changed the general post template from style-2 ( my default template ) to style-5 ( smart list recommended style)
Means the borken sidebar still appears in the combination of ( style-2 post template + style-2 smart list) but not with ( style-5 post template + style-2 smart list)
Any comment on it.
Thank you.
I don’t know how.. but I played with changing smart list style options and finally again style-2 , but as of now, the sidebar appears correct. I don’t know why it was happenning and how it is correct now.
There should be no caching issues because it is set to show live version for the admin. Let me know if you have anything to say for this behavior.
Thank you.
Hey, Today published a smart list-2 styled post https://tomatoheart.com/manisha-choraria/not-famous-side-paul-walker/ but it’s siebar appears broken (see here: https://i.snag.gy/Xt2kQM.jpg )
as far I could see, this is happenning only with this posts, not with any other similarly configured posts or smart-list 2 style posts.
The behavior of the broken sidebar is similar to the “smart primary menu” , means scrolled down, the whole sidebar disappears, while when scroll up, the borken sidebar appears in the right side on the post, while it should be on the right side.
Please check.
Hi Guys,
As of a few days ago my smart sidebar does not show up properly in Firefox and Explorer. It does however in Chrome. Now its placed below the blocks. It does so only on the homepage, not on posts.
I did not add any plugins, I did not alter the homepage settings. I asked my hostingcompany for advice whether it could be a caching problem which they said it was not. They added a Firefox developer status, which is mostly in dutch . I will add it to this conversation as it might help
my version is Newsmag V 2.3.7 , WordPress 4.6

Hi,
On your post pages it works properly – http://screencast.com/t/ShknGYGW
For your homepage you will need to add a class to the row, please check the documentation – https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Thanks!
Hello,
I enabled smart sidebar https://gyazo.com/20f6b8be29225b9990175102a8af1dea but it hasn’t started working – http://newsletter.freesmi.by/ A sidebar is still not moving
Can you please let me know if I should also enable something else to make it work?
Thanks.
Hello,
You do not need to buy visual composer as you already have a full working free license. The activation message can be ignored: http://screencast.com/t/juPVZ4vL33
The fixed sidebar can be activated like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Thank you!
Hello,
We only recommend these row sections to be used in our theme. That is why we highlighted them with blue: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
The smart sidebar will only work in a 2/3 + 1/3 layout as this guide suggests: https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Thank you!
yes the smart sidebar is activated when i checked. I did what you said and it still doesnt work. Here’s my site, (adult content warning) https://pocketpussyworld.com/
Hi,
1- Is it possible to keep the global theme setting for the smart sidebar deactivated and override it for a particular page? If so – please do let me know how to go about doing this.
2 – I have 3,000 odd articles and about 500 odd categories under which these articles are categorized. Is there some A – Z listing plugin or something that I can use to show these categories and Sub-categories on the Article Archives page?
Regards,
Nigel
Hi,
The smart sidebar was created to detect the 1 column and apply the scrolling effect to it. If you have 3 columns the theme will not be able to detect the one that needs to scroll. The current smart sidebar cannot work in a 3 column layout. sorry https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Thanks.
unfortunately , there is a recommendation for a 3 colom smart sidebar ??
Hi,
Unfortunately our theme does not have dual sidebars compatibility. The smart sidebar will only work on a 2/3 + 1/3 column layout.
Thank you!
Is it possible smart sidebar to 3 coloum???http://www.screencast.com/t/Ri24Lcwf8
Hi,
We thought it was self explanatory that you need to have a sidebar (an 1/3 column) in order to have a smart sidebar. You can’t have a sidebar in another type of layout as our theme only supports these column settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Thank you!
