As the sidebar to be sticky on the content displayed with Visual Composer page-builder it’s required the vc_row container because the style oftd-ss-row class it’s applied on that container: http://screencast.com/t/uVO8q7Bis When shim plugin it’s used td-ss-row class does not appear in page source and the td-ss-row class won’t apply it’s effect.
The default sidebar it’s applied for the latest article part which does not require Visual Composer and the style for it it’s made different. When the option from theme panel is enabled a new style it’s added for the sidebar’s column. That style it’s added by theme’s js only if this option from theme panel it’s enabled: http://screencast.com/t/E4IWB6nZglXH
The smart sidebar was not tested to work with shim plugin. In order to have it working are required some customizations in plugin’s files. This is a complex task and unfortunately i can”t provide a solution now. At the moment if you want to use the smart sidebar the only way is to have Visual Composer active.

Because I am using a specific smart list 7 ad unit, is there anyway with css to overwrite the containers padding just for that smart list 7 ad unit so that it will fit 728×90 banner? Visually for desktop views, http://screencast.com/t/iaLZOWeGn78 there does seem to be space for a 728×90 ad if the content/sidebar container padding was reduced. The 728×90 ad will protrude into the sidebar, but thats ok.
I know it can probably be done with js, just curious if theres anyway with only css

If you want to disable the latest articles you have to use another page template, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/goYDSZwg and the other block I suppose that is about the sidebar. This feature you can set it from Theme panel. I got the smart sidebar issue straightened out! I just need answers to adding a photo to block 10!
Ever since I updated to the latest version of WP, widgets have been disappearing. Newspaper default, footers, post, home… they’re all gone. The theme is up to date (version 6.6.5). This problem exist with smart sidebar turned on and off. I’ve tried disabling plugins, no difference. Please advise.

i want to change width of the page, but i don’t know how. I found this website which is also build on newspaper theme (site:http://gadgetviper.com/havit-mouse-hv-ms732-wired-gaming-mouse-review/) but it got way bigger width for content as well for sidebar. For instance on my website there are white space on the left side of the content and on the right side of the sidebar. i want my site to have bigger width:)
Also when i use smart list 2 there is no ad above the image, but if i disable smart list the google ads is only half size when it should be approximately size of the text 🙂

Hi, I have an odd problem with the google adwsense code. Ads are being displayed on Firefox & Chrome but not Safari. I don’t have any kind of ad blocker installed. Hi, little misunderstanding again, because I ended up there through the smartlist link that linked to the newsmag demo instead of newspaper. So the lines are actually in the newsmag demo. I mean the ones that seperate the different blocks from each other. For example the one between the main content and the sidebar.

Sorry about that I forgot the problem was on a smartlist. In this case, the best thing you can do is remove the sidebar. This way the post container will have a big enough width to implement 728 ads. http://screencast.com/t/Tp2fUBhEs8H

You can use the smart sidebar with any element you want but very important is not omit to put on the general row the special class -> td-ss-row as you can see in our documentation.

Thanks Catalin. I think I have figured out the reason. Correct me if I am wrong. What I find in your demo files, you have placed widgets at the bottom of the sidebars and the smart function works only with what we place using widgets function, not with other elements placed using page builder in the third column where sidebars usually sit. Is it? I will refer to the links you sent.

To achieve better results with this kind of smart feature, please ensure you have enough content on your page to scroll this on your page, otherwise, the sidebar will not move. I really have hard time figuring out with what logic smart sidebars work. I have enabled them in the theme panel but some of them seem to work and some don’t. Do they work within a single row / column or page wide? Why some elements on the side bars stop scrolling up and some don’t? What determines their behavior? I think I am not getting the concept clear.

The Big Grid element is used only for homepage. The simplest method to disable the sidebar when you are using Big Grid feature is to do not set the sidebar in this case. This is the way the theme was built. The sidebar only works in a 2/3 + 1/3 column layout. Unfortunately there is no easy solution to make the smart sidebar work on a 3 column layout. It will have to be made custom and we cannot offer any solutions for it. You will need to hire a freelancer for it if you really need this customization.

I’m not sure I understood this exactly now. Do you want to remove the sticky sidebar (the scrolling part that stays on the screen as you scroll) or the sidebar as a whole?
A smart sidebar is not the same thing as a sidebar. If you want to remove the sidebars completely, then you need to follow this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/
You can simply deactivate the sidebar on a post like so: http://screencast.com/t/1lVfxCfmrXfz
Then you need to edit the category sidebars, because if there is a sidebar set to a category, then all the posts will have this sidebar: http://screencast.com/t/Sc0sfuoAirT0

Is there a way to implement the sticky sidebar on different column sizes ? I went through some code and discovered that only those rows whose columns are divided in 1:2 (span4 / span8) would act as smart sidebars. Is it possible to use this feature with other column sizes like 1:3 (span3 / span9) ?
