Hi Bettina,
The screenshots you’ve posted don’t seem to be relevant to our question. They only talk about why Newspaper switched from WP Bakery to Composer, and why we should recreate our pages in Composer.
We would love to recreate our pages in Composer, but the error is thrown on every page, even when creating a new one. See this screenshot from composer when trying to create a new page. https://gundigeststg.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/composer-error.png
Composer doesn’t function while this error is present – no elements can be added at all.
How do we resolve this error so that we can create new pages or edit with composer?
Also, you didn’t address the main issue, which is the header not showing on one of our sites after the update, but showing on the other. What would cause the header to not show or be available? Please look at the production (Newspaper9) and Staging (Newspaper12) links I posted for each site to see what I mean.
Am I correct in assuming that we need to have Composer functioning correctly (ie resolve the error) to edit the header? Is editing the header in Composer the only way to resolve the issue we are experiencing?
Thank you,
I’ve just installed the latest newspaper updates on my site and now can’t edit my pages. All I get is the composer sidebar with grey page to right trying to load the page.
Ive modified the .htaccess file with following code as per your troubleshooting pages but still no change.
<IfModule mod_substitute.c>
SubstituteMaxLineLength 10M
</IfModule>
pls help asap.
My website, theaterbyte.com, has the formatting thrown off when I try to update to 12.6.1. I have had to roll it back to 12.5.1 as clearing cache, etc. does not seem to fix this.
Hi,
I don’t think it has anything to do with the theme update as you are the first one to come up with this problem.
Thank you!
Hi,
sorry, but I have to disagree. My cutomer told me immediately after the update: “Please remove the widget!” And he is working daily on this site. He would have noticed before, I guess. I didn’t import anything. I just ran the update and that’s it. Honestly, it took me some time to even find the template, let alone change anything.
Hi,
No, the update did not add the ad. I think that you have an ad there or you import something.
It should not happen in the next update.
Thank you!
Hi Anamaria,
you wrote via email:
I edited the template, and I deleted the code for that element.
Thank you very much, but I need to know HOW! The ad widget appeared after the update from 11 to 12, and we didn’t change the template. Obviously, the update added the ad. We would like to know, how we could fix this. For the next update, you know. 🙂
Hi,
If you want to update the theme, you should download the latest version of it from Theme Forest account and download it.
Please make a full backup to all files and database => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAJXrSI-dDA
Here you can find information about the changes that have occurred in each update over time https://tagdiv.com/newspaper/
I recommend that you update the theme manually https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ via FTP/cPanel/File Manager, also if possible disable extra plugins during the theme update to avoid any problems that may arise and make sure that you have activated the tagDiv Standard pack plugin to keep the website’s look. You can try to update the theme on a staging website.
After you update the theme, you need to update the theme plugins too.
In the worst cases, the settings in the theme panel may be lost (there have been isolated cases), in these cases, after the theme plugins that were previously used are activated, you will have to use a backup for the theme panel -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/
Also, if you want, you can contact our custom work team here and they can help you to update the theme safely: https://tagdiv.com/premium-customization-services/
Thank you!
I want to update a site using the theme from 10.3.9.1 to 12.6.1.
Is there any specific upgrade path or should I do an auto update through theme settings?
Ok. So, I did some research and did my own testing. Looks like when the Google Bot crawls the page, the YouTube video is actually Outise the viewport because when you see this example page on a mobile device/browser inspector: https://www.teslaoracle.com/2020/08/10/giga-austin-landscaping-drone-video/
You can see that before coming to its final form, the video is expanded vertically and horizontally, it settles after a few moments. This is what is causing the issue and it’s definitely coming from the theme not anything to do with my custom CSS as I also tried removing the CSS and re-testing.
This is causing huge SEO issues for my website and has given a dent to my traffic hence lost revenue, please fix it and provide and update to the theme, so that publishers like me can recover from the loss.
Hello!
Please understand that you need to make these modifications to your videos.
If you added some CSS regarding your videos, then put it back after the update. We did not change anything in the theme regarding your issue.
@Edward Thanks for your intervention.
Thank you for understanding!
The issue only occurred after I updated the theme to the latest version. The graph started dropping on 6th October, the day after I updated the theme.
I did not make changes to any files, just some additional CSS through the Theme Panel.
The error started occurring after the new update.
I think it’s happening because I am stretching the video to Full Width horizontally. In the Demo websites, you showed Full Width videos on demo pages but when I installed the theme, it kept margins on both sides, I had to look at the code of your Demo website to make the videos go full-width and there is nothing recommended in Documentation for the best way to make videos full width on mobile devices.
Please recommend the best way to make videos Full Width like they are on Demo Pages.
Hi,
Please update the PHP version to 7.4 or 8.0
Thank you!
Hi,
Please update the PHP version to 7.4 or 8.0
Thank you!
Hi,
thank you very much. I’m afraid, I don’t get it. 🙂 This site wasn’t pre-built. The ad reappeared after the update from V11 to V12, and we didn’t change anything. I can’t find this widget. It’s not in the default sidebar, nor is it in the global page template. At least, I can’t find it.

I’ve just updated a customer site from V11 to V12. Now, we have a Newspaper ad at the top of the default sidebar. It is only shown, if you’re not logged in. Are you kidding me? My customer paid for a license. Why on earth do you throw an ad for your product on his site? Now, this happened before. But this time, even after 30 minutes searching I couldn’t find a way to disable it. I could use CSS to hide the widget, but I don’t like dirty workarounds. In addition to that, you set an inline style to display: block. So, I would need to use !important to change this. Thank you for nothing! So, how can I get rid of this annoying widget?
Hello!
If you have some custom modifications in the theme files, then better save the code and replace it after every update.
These issues are regarding the site’s optimization, and you should fix them.
Thank you!
Hi,
After I updated to the Newspaper theme version 12.6.1, suddenly the Google Search Console started giving me errors on Video Indexing Issues. It says that “Video outside the viewport”.
Please can you fix this issue in the next update or tell me how to fix this? Because before the update YouTube embeds were fine and these errors were minimal. I am using the latest version of WordPress 6.3.2.

Hi Sudhin,
To replace the live search with google search the best solution is to remove it the one from the theme using tagDiv Composer and use an embed code to set the google search. Editing the theme files are not an option because the files for the live search can not be set in a child theme and will be lost when the theme will be updated.
To create a goggle search you can use this guide: How Do I Add a Custom Google Search to My Website?
To add the code in our theme use a cloud header and set with tagDiv Composer the custom code in a column text or text with title – https://imgur.com/xn721m6 -> https://imgur.com/D475ZN0
I hope this will help you!
Hello,
Using our theme, you can choose from 3 mobile versions
-> mobile responsive => https://www.screencast.com/t/oJ2ShOp47 you need to deactivate the tagdiv mobile theme plugin.
-> mobile theme plugin => https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ you need to activate the plugin.
-> mobile page => https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/
If you created the mobile pages with tagDiv Composer, then when you install the Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin (the mobile theme comes with its templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout, the page content is made without builders in mobile editor => https://www.screencast.com/t/xbgZG8kH also, the options that are provided to edit the mobile theme version are limited (this keeps the things simple)).
This is a video about Responsive Newspaper Theme, AMP & Mobile Theme, Mobile Pages & Templates -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpGkOnJeNZY
So, the mobile responsive is what you see then that you select the viewport on phone => https://www.screencast.com/t/matV17hH, so some settings may apply for each viewport(where is the border blue), and others are not(where the border is black).
The mobile page has the mobile templates from Cloud Library => https://www.screencast.com/t/YCcZ8rL8
The Mobile responsive version of the theme and the mobile page editor can be edit with tagDiv Composer, the mobile theme plugin cannot.
For example, you can have the mobile theme plugin activated and use the mobile page/mobile responsive version for the homepage/pages, but for the categories pages/404 page, you can’t use the mobile page/mobile responsive version if you have the mobile theme plugin activated.
So, if you want to design the pages with tagDiv Composer, you can use the mobile page or mobile responsive version.
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately, there is no migrate system from Newsmag to Newspaper, but I will try my best to help you.
First, you need to make sure that you have a full backup for your website and database.
Now what you need to know is that during this process some elements, design from your website can be changed, so here are the steps that you need to do:
Right now you have the Newsmag theme activated, what you need to do is to install via WordPress the Newspaper theme, but do not activate it. After the theme is installed, go in plugins and disable all tagDiv plugins you have enabled, after that you need to activate the new theme (Newspaper theme) and make sure that you update and activate tagDiv Composer, tagDiv Standard pack (those plugins should bring back the website look and can be installed from Newspaper > plugins), also enable the rest of tagDiv plugins that you are using -> https://i.imgur.com/MvKx52B.png
I hope this will help you!
I have dit all the updates, the issue is that in the back office the website view is ok, but out in other browsers the home page looks completely different, with no photos appearing the fonts are white, etc. The wesite has a terrible view live, have a look here ( https://supportmydata.gr ) and have a look here how is the view in the back office. ( https://prnt.sc/ob0iWz70so5n )
I Have tried to do things but no results, any idea what can I do?
Hi zklid,
Indeed when the Slide element is used and is set on Autoplay slider on mobile version can appear problems, what we suggest is to create a mobile page (you can copy the homepage content) and remove the slide or remove the “Autoplay slider ” option from it – https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-10-3-7-update-brings-customizable-and-fast-mobile-pages/
Thank you!
