Hi,

Not sure how your site was designed before so I’m not aware of what colors/layouts/fonts that have changed. I have noticed though that some additional classes and css have been added by the VC plugin.
Please make sure that you remove the VC plugin then use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/ and install the plugin from the /plugins folder that was provided within your theme files.
Let me know if you have this issues afterwards.

Thanks

Hi,

Please disable all plugins and leave only Visual Composer plugin active and also if you have some custom modifications to the theme please remove theme and try again. I also tested this with the last theme update(1.4) and found no issues.

Thanks!

You can ignore the notice as noted in the theme docs
https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/

How to Update Visual Composer plugin (WPBakery)

•The theme includes a license for this plugin so you don’t have to buy it.
•You don’t have to activate the plugin license, it’s already activated.
•You can’t update the plugin directly from the it’s producer.
•You don’t have to worry about the plugin update warnings.

OK, did the steps outlined above.

Still getting the same notice on my admin page, that I need to update the plugin.

Do I just ignore that and wait for the next theme update?

Is there anyway to expand what files you can modify with the child theme?

For example, I am modifying the Author Box (see another thread of mine). It is not in the includes/modules folder but instead in the includes/shortcodes folder and therefore isn’t overwritten by the child theme.

Also, trying to modify the JS file to remove smart scrolling (because it doesn’t work with Macs). Again, this can’t be modified through the child theme.

On a future update, I may lose these modifications if this file is changed.

Thanks

Hi,

I’m also having the same conflict, and would be very interested to see a speedy fix to this if possible.

I appreciate the conflict is caused by lack of functionality in WordPress, but would be great if we could switch the megamenu options on or off.

The author of the Nav Menu Roles suggests a solution at https://wordpress.org/plugins/nav-menu-roles/faq/ under Workaround #1.

Perhaps this could be incorporated in to the theme?

Many thanks,

Dan

*** UPDATE ***

I just realised this post is in the Newspaper forum, and not the Newsmag forum. I’m using Newsmag. But the same problem exists.

Is there anyway these files can be updated and included with the theme as soon as possible? I am hearing from users with Macs that this smooth scrolling does not work with Macs. If that is the case, there should be an option built into the theme to easily disable it or just disable it for Macs.

Hi,

Did you used youtube videos that have double quotes (“) on the title? if you did modify the following code like this – http://screencast.com/t/MukMpaiwnVRN and try again

htmlentities($obj['entry']['media$group']['media$title']['$t'])

This issue will be fixed in the next update.

Thank you, Emil G.

right, have updated the VC plugin: the search still does not work.

all other issues are not important (i will simply not use revolution slider, the ie11 problems only come up on our work machines, so i will ignore them).

the search however would be very important to work out. any other suggestions?

thanks!

Hi,

That will require code modifications and when you update the theme and the plugin you’ll have to make those modifications again. A better solution would be to add it bellow (or above) the Social Counter box.

Thank you, Emil G.

Hi,

I’ve checked your site an noticed lots of js errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/GzsCaOQc
I suggest you disable all plugins (leave just VC active) then make a backup of your current theme installation then re-upload your theme files and use this guide and the FTP method to do it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Please let me know if you still have issue after doing this and if so please give us wp-access so we can also check this and send your wp-admin login details via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also provide an URL to this topic or specify your issues details.

Thanks

Hi,

You also need to update the VC plugin. Please use this guide to update the Visual Composer plugin and upload the plugin from the /plugins folder which was provided with the theme files and use the FTP method to do it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
The VC version tested and included within the Newspaper theme files is version 4.3.5.
The theme was tested using the latest version of WordPress (4.1) and the VC plugin also so you can also update WordPress to the latest version without worries.

Thanks!

Hi,

You don’t need to update Visual Composer plugin, because we will provide updates on a regular basis, after we test the plugin for theme compatibility we include it in the latest theme update, inside the ../plugins folder: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/

Also please read here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-update-visual-composer-2/

Thanks!

Hi,

I’ve checked your site an noticed that bootstrap css is missing and returns and 404 error massage: http://screencast.com/t/bK37ybff
This file represents the css for the grid, that is why your site looks broken.
I suggest you re-copy your theme files and please use this guide and the FTP method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
To use rtl you should localize your WordPress: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
Install WordPress in your language then automatically the theme will use the rtl.
Search the forum for suggestion and fixes for the issue you may encounter with this and you should also consider that unfortunately we recently have decided that starting with the next theme update we will not include rtl support within the theme. You can still use the theme as it is but unfortunately you cannot updated it as you will lose the rtl support.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for the message and for understanding!

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no option to sort post by modified date. The theme sort by the creation date, so the sort order Latest is mean that will take last posts added not updated(modified). Sorry for inconvenience!

Thanks!

Hi,

As you can also see on our demo site: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/homepage-3-magazinly/ the category tags from sliders aren’t using the colors set in theme panel for category tags, that option is only for category tags present on post pages:

ex:
* homepage slider: http://screencast.com/t/Ks9U3Yt686
* category page: http://screencast.com/t/Fa68ij4zwupI
* post page: http://screencast.com/t/OuU9Mz83

You can see how the category function is built for post pages here: http://screencast.com/t/i6oMSb1TKoN and use the same method to alter the function for the slider here: http://screencast.com/t/gB56Ott5oXe
Unfortunately you would need custom work for it and we cannot offer custom work because we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support. You can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks Chris!

@roylexi
Please make sure that you have this option enabled in theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/w41HVY4rp then check to see if also get this result: http://screencast.com/t/0ZQBDWvSK8
Also use this guide and make sure that you regenerate thumbnails following this steps: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/ ..and that you have permissions to update your uploads folder and that you have GD library installed.
Please also try this without having any plugins active, empty cache/purge then test again.

Thanks

Hi,

1. You need custom modification to add effects to images as the them doesn’t have any options for that. You can also try to find and use a plugin or try to do it yourself or hire a developer/freelancer, if you don’t have any basic css/html knowledge, to helps you with it.
Here you have some examples and tips on how to do this: http://bavotasan.com/2011/amazing-hover-effects-with-css3/
Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.

2. You can find a tutorial on how to use them in the readme file under “usage”: https://github.com/kni-labs/rrssb

Thanks

Hi,

Try to use !important as: .sf-menu > li > a:hover {border-bottom: 4px solid #4db2ec !important;} or a more specific selector to overwrite it like: .menu-td-header-container > .sf-menu > li > a:hover {border-bottom: 4px solid #4db2ec;} as using the same selector will not overwrite it. You can also use the main theme custom css filed from theme panel to add your custom css as updating the theme will not affect it and the changes you’ve made via custom css will remain after an update.

Thanks

Hello,

I am using total cache with page cache only, but still want to show the most popular posts the last 7 days. The problem now is that the most popular posts the last 7 days is not updating. I have enabled the option to use ajax under the post setting menu, but still no updates!

Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for good support guys!
