Yes … in the next update 🙂
Yep, I’m missing the social media icons after the update.
Updated to 1.1… made some changes to the Page Content fonts. See Screenshot at
http://screencast.com/t/bCzyqsUrcSe
But here is the result (nothing) and you can see it’s not showing the right font at
http://screencast.com/t/Z5gRuYks9mw
Appreciate any help…
Jeff
See the theme docs on how to update.
there is a patch file in the full download, but i usally turn off plugins, delete old theme folder, upload new theme folder, reactivate theme
Obviously you need to manage your caching and cdn settings as applicable, such as clearing cache before reactivating new version.

Best update method is?
Thank you for the list. The possibility to have more ad blocks would be a cool update
Thanks. I am hopeful this is updated soon.
I’ve tried making the change in your screencapture you provided above: http://screencast.com/t/erMAsiPYbjj
This is what I changed to:
$temp_css_google_files .= str_replace(' ', '+', td_fonts::$font_names_google_list[$font_id_from_list]) . ':400,400italic,700,700italic';
What I need is to see the real italic with Droid Serif but here is what I’m getting: http://screencast.com/t/sNPsTpy0eEG
Sure don’t like the way this looks… appreciating your help!
Jeff
I don’t use the Envato plugin as it always messes things up for me. But I do get automatic emails from ThemeForest on the updates to all my purchases without any trouble.
Yes, I converted my hobby magazine site (ga-ga.com) over to Newsmag, which is on track to launch Jan 1 (it’s a combination of some of our old sites being combined into “one” main site). Only having one or two very minor issues which are not related to changing themes and will likely ping Radu about that today.
Hi,
Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option for that, you can change the way the video format is handled from here: http://screencast.com/t/DkqXUU50M or you can set it to video format the use css and hide the videos you don’t want.
Either way you need custom works and unfortunately we cannot offer custom work at this time as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks
Thank you for your reply Lucian. You clarified all that I needed to know and I guess I should probably stay away from Child themes since I’m just using the settings/preferences within the theme at this point. The theme very good without any additional tweaks, and is mainly why I purchased it.
I also appreciate you being thorough about the Child themes and trouble shooting the issue I experience. I reupload the included child theme that came with the newest update, and thought about trying it and purging the cache, so it was good that you covered that so I know for sure what to do if I choose to use the Child theme. I forgot to ask that but I was thinking about it.
Based on what you advise about the Child Theme, I apparently don’t need to use it for this current project, and maybe should stay away from it with other projects since you don’t recommend it anymore.
Thanks again for the detailed reply!
Hi,
@Solari In time you will find more info about new features added, bug fixes here: http://themeforest.net/item/newsmag-news-magazine-newspaper/9512331?WT.oss_phrase=&WT.oss_rank=14&WT.z_author=tagDiv&WT.ac=search_list
With theme files when updated will also provide a change log of changed files like Christopher wrote.
Thanks
Ok i got ya, all must be clean before i change the theme that why i asked as i dont need to craxh the whole think:) do you need to set ne api envato in order to be notified when new updates coming or its automaticaly linked to the previous.. i guess its not and needs to be done again…
did you manage to do it Christopher?
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion, I will add this on our feature request list and we will consider it for future updates.
Thanks
Hello
I am updating a highly customized site from version 2.2 to 4.0. I was wondering how the best way to go about this would be. In the live preview much of the formatting and layout seems to have been removed. I have no custom CSS.
I realize this is an extremely old version of the theme, would it be easiest to simply install 4.0 and rebuild from the ground up? Is it possible to limit the reformatting if i to update 2.2 to 2.3 then to 2.4 etc? are these theme versions still available?
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry for the delay. The default fonts are defined inside the td_fonts.php file but we plan to move them back to the functions.php file in the next update. – http://screencast.com/t/C8pxpRUKq0j
Those fonts already include the italic parameter. The problem appears when another font is selected, it loads only 400 and 700 parameters. – http://screencast.com/t/piCyBWyx
As you stated, another problem is that there’s only Normal/Bold option for each font.
We have all these issues on our list and we plan to improve the font system in one of the next updates, maybe also create options to load only certain font parameters.
Until we implement this you could try to add extra font parameters – ex. – http://screencast.com/t/erMAsiPYbjj and extra weight options – http://screencast.com/t/mNqOuhajNUgr
Then set the font for an item and check if the font loads properly – http://screencast.com/t/YJdftAL0B
I’ve checked it on my side and it works – http://screencast.com/t/XD0X01jrn
Again sorry for the delay and thank you for reporting this issue, feedback is always welcomed.
Have a nice day, Emil G.
Hi,
deactivated all other plugins: again got this message:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Revolution Slider Error:no update action taken! Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘no update action taken!’
Hi,
Above all, we are sorry for the inconvenience! We do not recommend using the child theme as this could cause lots of issue if not used right and other than that it doesn’t give the ability to change all theme’s files, just some of them.
The settings and customization you chose within the theme don’t get lost when you updated the theme just the ones which are made directly within the theme’s files which we do not recommend also, so from my point of view a child would help but if not used right it could cause issues also.
So if you don’t plan to make changes to the theme’s files we do not recommend using the child theme and if you do want to make some changes, not loots of them, then we suggest to make the changes in the main theme then make a copy of the modified files and replace them after each update or use the patch we provide, if you update from one version to the next, check the change-log to see if the files you also modified have changed and if not you can leave them like they were and simply update the theme using the patch.
If you don’t use the patch you need to modify the files again after each update.
Moving to the child theme messing up your site issue, please make sure that you use the latest version of the child also provide within the theme’s files that you have downloaded from themeforest.
If still doesn’t work make sure you disable plugins, empty cache, purge files and check again.
Please let me know how this works for you.
Thanks
Hi,
Have you still got issue with this? I have check your site using IE11 and haven’t found the issues you have in the screens: http://screencast.com/t/X6eBmUahZ10c
If you still have it please make sure you update the plugin and also try to address this question to plugins support page: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce
Thanks
Hey guys,
I wonder if any of you use Sharify. Nonetheless, I’ve added an option panel which allows you to hide/show a sharing button. The update comes with other features as well.
Also, a review is much appreciated 🙂 So please leave a review if you like it!
Thanks!
…that I can monitor for bugfixes, updates, changes, etc? Thanks.
Ray
I backed up the theme, uploaded child theme and activated, and it was okay with the original theme. I updated the Newspaper theme to latest update and that seemed to break the site because it stripped the menu and duplicated logo and messed up the site. I thought this was an issue with the new theme, but it appears to be the combination with the old child theme, because when I activated the main theme it fixed the site, and it appears to have the settings I setup when using the last version of the main Newspaper theme.
Again, I think I would have saved a issues now and in the future if I was advised to start with Child theme when installing.
Going forward is there a way to create a child theme that doesn’t mess up the site? I’m just concerned that updating the main theme in the future will mess up changes I make.
Please Advise.
Christopher, thanks again for your lengthy solution, but I really wanted to keep this post simple… that’s why I separated it from the other one so as to keep the focus and get some help from the staff on this particular topic.
Lucian, what we need is a solution that would apply any time we call an italic using Open Sans (or any other Google font if need be that has a true italic)… in a post, page or whatever. And, I don’t think it should be wiped out every time I update. Simple as that. If possible.
Lucian, normally I would not make this public yet because I’m still building it, but since there is no private here and you asked… http://positivityworld.com
Thanks… Jeff
I saw that there was an update available for newspaper and in the updating documentation it says I could lose changes if I hadn’t created a child theme. This has me perplexed because the main installation instructions advised activating the main theme and didn’t recommend using the “child theme”, which it really should have.
I see now that you have a lot of documentation on Child themes but it doesn’t appear to help me now that I didn’t start with it to begin with as I should have apparently. I wasn’t even aware that this was possible and that a child theme is provided with theme, because the install instructions didn’t mention it.
Do I have to make a child theme from the changes I’ve already made and if so how do I go about doing that? I noticed that there are different directories and files include than the original.
Please Advise how I can create a child theme from the already custom theme.
Hi,
Unfotunatelly I can’t give you an exact answear on this, the woocommerce integration is on top of our todo list and we will implement it in one of the future updates.
Thanks
