Hello,
We are currently working on the website:
https://www.sostenible.com.mx/
We are having an issue with the page editor / builder. The pages are no longer editable through the builder, and on the frontend the content is being displayed as raw Visual Composer / WPBakery shortcodes instead of being rendered properly.
For example, the homepage is showing content like:
[vc_row][vc_column][td_block_ad_box spot_id="custom_ad_2"]…
[td_block_2 custom_title="ACTIVIDADES PRIMARIAS"]…
[/vc_column][/vc_row]
The site was originally running an older version of the Newspaper theme, version 7. Everything was working correctly before, but the issue suddenly started. We then migrated/updated the theme to version 12, expecting the problem to be resolved, but the issue still persists.
Based on what we are seeing, it looks like the problem may be related to Visual Composer / WPBakery Page Builder, because the builder is not loading correctly and it appears to be asking for a license or activation. Since the content depends heavily on Visual Composer / WPBakery shortcodes, the site is currently unable to render the pages correctly.
Could you please help us review the following?
Confirm if the bundled Visual Composer / WPBakery plugin included with the Newspaper theme is active and compatible with version 12.
Check if the plugin requires a separate license or if it should be activated through the theme package.
Verify why the shortcodes are being printed as plain text instead of being parsed/rendered.
Confirm if there is a missing plugin, corrupted builder installation, or compatibility issue after the migration from Newspaper v7 to v12.
Let us know the recommended steps to restore the page builder functionality without losing the existing page content.
The main issue is that the website content is still stored using Visual Composer / WPBakery shortcodes, but the builder is no longer processing them correctly.
Thank you.
Best regards,
Adalberto Larios
Hi Simons Now I find the issue all is ok now thanks.
May I ask if version 12.7.6 of the Newspaper template is fully compatible with WordPress 7.0? We haven’t updated yet because we’re afraid it might break the site 🙂
Hello Simion,
Thanks for your respond. Yes, the plugin was deactivated as a temporary workaround.
After I activated SWIS again, the photos are cached normally.
As far as I understand with the next photos added, the cache will not update new images and they will be unavailable, as before. So let me wait until the new photo will be published on Instagram so I can try to clear cache manually and tell you the result.
In EWWW lazyload is deactivated since this is a photography site. But I will try to play with it.
I will update the thread in several hours or few days.
P.S. Looks like I forgot to post a URL to the site with the issue, but you correctly pointed it out. Thanks.

Hi,
There were a few issues in the previous composer version, we fixed them in the latest update -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-changelog/ In case you are using an older version, please update the theme. The composer is now version 5.4.5 and the theme is 12.7.6.
Thank you!
I understand now. We should do that perhaps.
That font is in this folder in the theme https://prnt.sc/aOODTON6dZhQ It could be converted to woff2.
Then it will require making a change in the theme stylesheet here https://prnt.sc/CECR1aDfriZl to load the woff2 file.
If you want to try it you could do it and it should work fine. We will probably do it as well in the next theme update.
Thank you!
Hello,
I’m using the Newspaper theme (version 12.7.6, with tagDiv Composer) on my live news site zzpnieuws.nl, which has an archive of 1,100+ articles. I want to use the Relevanssi search plugin to improve site search, but the search results page returns no results when Relevanssi is active.
What I’ve confirmed:
– With Relevanssi active, the search results page (e.g. /?s=schijnzelfstandigheid) shows “no results” for terms that appear hundreds of times in my archive, even though Relevanssi’s index is fully built and correct (1,122 documents, ~139,597 terms; posts and pages both included) and all Relevanssi settings are correct.
– The moment I deactivate Relevanssi, the theme’s native search works again immediately and returns the expected results. So the theme search itself is fine; the conflict is specifically between the search results template and Relevanssi.
– This persists on the latest version 12.7.6, with all caches cleared.
I’ve read an earlier reply from your team (Bettina) to another user, suggesting to edit the search page with tagDiv Composer and use a Flex Block with the filter “Search: Current Search” and no offset value. I’d like to apply this correctly but I’m not sure which template controls my search results page.
My questions:
1. Which template controls the search results page in the Newspaper theme – is it a Cloud Library template, a dedicated Search template in the Website Manager, or the theme default? I have a custom archive page that contains the search form, but the results appear on a separate /?s= page.
2. How should the Flex Block (“Search: Current Search”, no offset) be configured so the search results respect Relevanssi’s output instead of the theme’s own query?
3. Is there a recommended filter or hook for this that survives theme updates, rather than editing a core theme file?
I have a full backup in place and can provide temporary admin access through the official support channel if needed. This isn’t urgent – native search is working as a fallback – but I’d like to know the correct way to integrate Relevanssi with your theme.
Thank you,
Marco Weeber

I buy 2 Licenses
But All my old Domains has died
I wwant to use License from Died Domain to a New Domain
But it shows:
An issue has been encountered while trying to validate your license key
Please reset the key from the System status tab and try to activate it again, or contact our customer support team at contact@tagdiv.com.
If you don’t have a valid license key, you can get one now and continue to enjoy the full benefits of this great product.

Hi,
In this topic we were discussing an issue specifically related to the theme system status panel not loading, meaning this page -> https://prnt.sc/yg6rurXpB9RZ
If you changed the PHP version and there are problems, there can be all kinds of causes. The newer theme versions works fine with even PHP 8.4. Are you using older theme versions perhaps? If I check the website where I believe you are using the theme, I see it uses Newspaper 8, which is from 10 years ago. Please also update the theme.
Thank you!
yes i think it wp’s fault too…
please update it somehow asap 🙂
Hello all,
I have a similar issue on my website.
It currently runs on the latest WordPress version. I have updated all the plugins and the last thing left to update was Php version. When I updated the Php to the latest, I am also getting critical error and the entire website is not reachable. Kindly suggest what is the issue here.
Thank you!
You could do that, but it will require modifications in the code. You will have to keep making the modifications each time you update the theme. Usually a more long terms solution is better, like the ones I suggested. Since Google itself provides an option to make the ad have the size you want -> https://prnt.sc/y6viHbj-RQKT why not use it instead of theme modifications? You just have to create an ad and set the size that you want.
Thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, clearing the browser cache or the theme cache doesn’t fix the issue in my case. All plugins are already updated, including Classic Editor, Yoast, and others. The problem appeared immediately after updating WordPress to 7.0 and PHP to 8.2/8.3, and it persists regardless of cache or plugin updates.
Everything on the frontend works correctly — only the System Status panel fails to load and returns a critical error. This suggests that the issue is not related to caching, but to something inside the theme’s System Status module itself.
Rolling back WordPress is not an option on this installation, so I need to identify the exact cause.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
It works with PHP 8.3x and WordPress 7.0x
Usually clearing the cache after update fixes it. I had same issue on one of five sites, with the “problem with site” message. Clearing cache in browser worked.
Remember to update plugins also, like classic editor if using that, Yoast, etc. — many plugins gets updates with new version of WP.
You can always roll back the version of WP if needed.
Hi,
after updating WordPress to the latest version and updating PHP on my server, the System Status page in the Newspaper theme stopped working.
Instead of showing the theme version and server information, I get this message:
“There has been a critical error on this website.”
Everything else works correctly:
the frontend works without issues
the Theme Panel loads
the website is fully functional
Only System Status is broken.
My environment:
Newspaper: 12.7.6 (the latest version available on ThemeForest)
WordPress: latest version
PHP: recently updated (likely 8.2 or 8.3)
No other changes were made
The issue appeared immediately after the WP + PHP update
Disabling cache/security plugins does not fix the issue
It seems that the System Status module in Newspaper 12.7.6 is not fully compatible with the newest WordPress/PHP versions.
Questions:
Is Newspaper 12.7.6 fully compatible with the latest WordPress and PHP 8.2/8.3?
Is this a known issue affecting the System Status module?
Is there a recommended PHP version (e.g., 8.1) for Newspaper 12.7.6?
Will there be an update to restore compatibility?
Hi Simion,
Thank you for the clarification.
My goal is not to create a traditional online store. I am building a local business magazine where businesses can purchase advertising and promotional packages directly from the website.
For example, I would like to offer packages such as Starter, Growth, and Premium plans that include business listings, articles, advertisements, website links, maps, coupons, promotions, and directory placements. After purchasing, the business would be able to submit their information and manage their profile.
Based on your explanation, it sounds like WooCommerce may be the better solution for handling these package purchases, while the Subscription plugin is more focused on paid member access to protected content.
Could you please confirm whether WooCommerce alone would be sufficient for selling these business advertising packages and managing recurring monthly or yearly payments?
I also have a few questions regarding business accounts:
1. Would businesses need their own Login/Register account and dashboard to manage their package, profile, and subscription?
2. Can business owners update their own coupons, promotions, special offers, and business information from their dashboard without requiring an administrator to make the changes?
3. If this is possible, what would be the best approach using the Newspaper theme? Would WooCommerce alone handle this, or would additional plugins be required?
4. I would also like businesses to be able to purchase and submit additional articles whenever they want. For example, a business could log into their account, purchase an article credit, submit an article with images and links, and send it for review before publication. Is this possible with WooCommerce and the Newspaper theme, and what would be the recommended setup?
My goal is to give businesses a simple self-service portal where they can purchase a package, manage their profile, update promotions, submit articles, and manage their subscription without needing manual assistance each time.
Thank you for your help and guidance.
Best regards,
Abbas,
Update please
Hi Simion,
Thank you for the support. I wanted to update you and the community that I managed to resolve the issue.
The standard workaround eventually worked: I had to completely delete the old theme, upload the new version, and reinstall the plugins from scratch to fix the conflict. The tagDiv Opt-In Builder is now working perfectly.
I really appreciate that your team is always available to help, even after many years. To reflect this great and reliable customer service, I have gladly updated my review on ThemeForest.
Thanks again!
Best regards,
Fabrizio

We recently purchased a new Newspaper license for a new site.
When we migrated the site, it brought over the license we were using on the dev site.
I don’t see a way to update the license on the “My License” page.
Hi tagDiv support,
After updating Newspaper (and/or its related plugins), new posts created after the update save blockquote/quote HTML with backslashed attribute quotes, which breaks the markup and styling.
Example (from WordPress code editor)
…<div class=\”quotesourcebox\”>…</div>
Expected:
…<div class=”quotesourcebox”>…</div>
Notes
This affects only posts created after the latest update; older posts are fine.
The problem appears to be double-escaping during editor save/serialization (Gutenberg / quote styling / quoteStyle/className handling).
On the frontend, the malformed class=\”…\” causes CSS selectors like .td_quote_box to fail.
Request
Could you please confirm:
which component is responsible (theme vs td-composer/td-standard-pack), and
provide a patch / hotfix so quotes are stored with proper attributes (class=”…”) without backslashes?
If you need more info I can provide:
WordPress version, PHP version, Newspaper version, and td-composer version
A full post content export showing the stored HTML
Thanks.
Hi,
The revolution slider should always be inside the full theme package, we always include it. I checked the last theme update and the latest one, the slider was -> https://prnt.sc/oawqL1RqPpw6 and is -> https://prnt.sc/gHApncxd4kn8 in the plugins folder. It’s unusual if you checked and it wasn’t there.
Thank you!
Hello Calin,
Thanks for your response!
For some reason, when I asked this last time, the folder I downloaded keeps not being the full amouth of content inside the folder, so the revolution_slider was not there.
Today, I followed your guide once again, and now its there and the plugin is updated.
Thanks 🙂
There is an issue related to this updated software. While the theme updates correctly, the plugin does not update in the same way, and the old version no longer works. I have contacted you multiple times regarding this same issue, but I have not received any response. Please find a solution as soon as possible. Deactivating and reactivating the plugin is not a solution.
The plugin’s opt-in builder isn’t working for subscription. It creates user accounts for locked paid content and the payment connection to Stripe isn’t working either; it was working before, but it stopped after the last update. I deactivated and then reactivated the plugin, but nothing changed. It’s not connecting to Stripe; it’s taking payment and allowing user access to the content.
Hi,
Many of our users have updated already. There are no major issues that we identified, only a few minor ones, like the new visual revisions feature not working https://publishpress.com/blog/revisions/wordpress-70-revisions/ But this may not work because of other plugins as well.
If you want to make sure that there are no issues after updating, you could test first on a staging/testing clone of the website, if possible. If all is well there, then you can update on the main website.
Thank you!
Hello, I’d like to know whether WordPress 7.0 has been tested with the Newspaper theme and confirmed to work properly before I update, as I want to avoid breaking my site. Thanks.
