Well, o course a custom post type can have a standard post category. As you see in the above code, it just works 🙂 I add the categories and the post types in the block in Visual Composer and everything would work fine – if the theme wouldn’t lock out custom post types by default.
If it wouldn’t, your users could display any custom post type in the Big grid easily with its associated category. But it’s your choice, of course. 🙂 For me, it makes everything much harder because I have to come up with a complicated solution for beeing update safe – if it it working at all… In the end it has to be done via JavaScript – thats a little dirty 😉
Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
This is a strange issue. We have no such reports of any error that breaks a site at specific hours.

Hello ingilizcecin,
I have checked your website and I saw that you are using a lot of untested plugins which can interact with the theme core files and might cause a lot of unknown issues. Also, if you have some additional customization through the code please try to remove all of them and revert the theme to the default state and also, remove all untested plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. Also, if the problem is still there, try to make a new clean install from scratch to another sub-domain and check the results.
Thanks for the message!
Hello,
I cannot say for sure about the Visual composer element as we are not the plugin creators. What i can suggest is our theme modules blocks that can show pages if you enter the ‘page’ post type in this field: http://screencast.com/t/on1jznwN
You can use any theme block to show pages in the style you want.
Thank you!
Hello all,
Please ensure that your page which you want to be as homepage is right to set it according to Visual Composer -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-use-visual-composer/ Also, check your system status to be higher increased according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
@sutopo, I have checked your website and I saw that your Homepage (Home) work as properly, as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/Yxupm2iBY
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello hammerman,
Do you are using Blog style (by your latest post) or Homepage Style (by static page)? So, please notice that in your example is use Hompage and also, is used the Big Grids which can be set it from Visual Composer, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/LGvwblzt For more information about our Big Grid Settings, you should consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/ and also, for more information about how you can use the Visual Composer, consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-use-visual-composer/

Hi,
Check your plugins area to see if Visual Composer is installed and active.
Check it’s settings to see if the plugin is activ for Administrators on pages – http://screencast.com/t/33n3OL3W
If this doesn’t help, try to disable all plugins, keep only Visual Composer active and see if it works.
If it does then you may have a plugin conflict, enable the rest of the plugins one by one to see which one causes this issue.
Thank you!
I am trying to create an image grid consisting of the feature images and titles of pages only.
I try to use the Post Grid item in Visual Composer.
I select Data Source: “Page” and leave other options at the default settings.
Nothing ever shows.
On the Visual Composer support area I found a similar issue and they responded with:
Hi, once you add post grid you have option to choose Data Source and there should be pages listed. If for some reason they are not listed check if you have any errors in browser console and make sure to use latest version of VC. Otherwise please apply for support at support.wpbakery.com and share your site credentials. If you received VC within a theme then you should ask your theme author to assist you and in case he is not able to help he can open support ticket at our system for you.
Do you know if the Newspaper theme supports showing an image grid of pages? Is it possible to use the “Page” data source in the Post Grid Visual Composer element?
If I cannot do this using the Post Grid VC element, how else can I achieve this?
I will also need to achieve the same grid, but with a category grid also.
Everything in the Newspaper theme seems to be geared around showing ‘Post’ links but I need to be able to direct users to categories and pages also…
Any advice is appreciated!
I used Visual Composer for my homepage and made a widgetised sidebar, however I was wondering how I can make this sidebar fixed?
Hi,
I suggest to disable all your plugins except Visual Composer, disable any css/js minifications, clear all your caches and purge your files if you use CDN and see how it goes.
Also if you use child theme please switch to the main theme.
Thanks!
Hi Bogdan,
Thanks for your reply.
If you read my first post you will read this “I’m trying to use the Full Width Revolution Slider on the Homepage. I don’t have any color or image as a background, I selected “Full Width” on the Slider’s settings, I stretched the rows through Visual Composer and still looks boxed. Am I missing something?”
So, the background color was cleared since the very beginning…
Anyway, I downloaded the theme again, made a clean installation and suddenly started working. I have no idea what the problem was, but with the new install started working.
I would have been more than happy to send you a link to the website but I’m working locally.
Now, that the full width issue is solved, I would like to ask you about moving the Rev Slider behind the menu, here’s my original question from the first post “Finally, I noticed that another customer asked about css code that allows the nav menu to be transparent and placed over the image slider? If it can be done without messing too much with the theme and affecting the responsiveness I will be really appreciated.”
One last thing, please release the Rev Slider update, after what happened with the famous exploit (because of that I lost a couple of websites I was working on and my computer was seriously damaged), I’m extremely careful with that plugin.
Thanks for your help,
Hoping to hear from you soon,
Hello ohno,
Please keep in mind that the theme is fully tested and compatible with Visual Composer 5.0.1 which come bundled with the latest version of the theme which is Newsmag 3.3. If you are suing some untested plugins, please try to disable all of them and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. If the problem is still there, try to make a new clean install from scratch or create a new sub-domain only with the required plugins, clear all the caches and check the results. For them updating, use the FTP method because this is the surest and safe way in this regard.
Thanks for the message!

Hello,
Sorry but there is no simple way of making it work like that. Besides that we only recommend using these columns: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
You will need to hire a developer in order to maker the sticky sidebar in any other layout besides the theme intended one as it’s no easy modification to make.
Thank you!
Hello Satsuki,
Please keep in mind that our theme allows you three way of theme updating as you can see in our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ The surest and safe way of theme installing is FTP and we recommend to update your theme through this method. Notice that when a new theme version was released you will receive a notification on email.
Regarding on your second request, I have inspected your website and I did not saw any problems regarding on your images. All of these seems to work as expected. Also, the theme come bundled with the latest version of Visual Composer which is 5.0.1 as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/jECaNxaqOl
If you need more assistance in this regard and if your problem is still there, please provide some useful screenshots where to explain the problem.
Hope this helps!

Hello,
that’s weird because I updated already yesterday and it says it was the latest version… So I can’t rely on the update center in WordPress right? Is there another way to automatically inform me about theme updates?
No I mean just the line breaks which are caused with the <br> tagg. The white speace between different paragraphs.
I just find out, that the problem is caused by a plugin after all… So I can handle it somehow…
But with the update I have some NEW problems… Now the menue isn’t sticky anymore, the comment counter is back and most of my pictures are gone because you don’t gave us the latest version of Visual Composer…
Best regards
Hi,

Maybe if you can tell me the steps after creating the slider, Do I have to put it inside the visual composer? do I have to choose a different element in the visual composer and then put it inside? With every theme I’ve purchased, Revolution Slider works totally different.
Finally, I noticed that another customer asked about css code that allows the nav menu to be transparent and placed over the image slider? If it can be done without messing too much with the theme and affecting the responsiveness I will be really appreciated. If it’s too messy then I would like to know how to remove the padding between the main menu bar and the slider.
About the Rev Slider free template samples, I’ll email you requesting them!
Thanks again!

Hi,
Well the widgetized sidebar element (I presume you are referring to) will grab a sidebar from the widgets area of wordpress. Does your sidebar in the widgets area have widgets set to it? Please check that area and then use the widgetized sidebar element to pull a sidebar into a page. It works properly for us so i cannot recreate the issue on my end.
Plugins can also interfere so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hello,
Unfortunately the browsers we tested our theme width are google chrome, Mozilla Firefox, internet explorer and opera. We did not test the theme with the Facebook browser or mobile phone specific browsers. Still you can try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme. as we have no such reports until now so it could be something on your end affecting the browser.
Thank you!
When using a child theme, the file js_composer.min.css is being loaded AFTER the parent and child theme style sheets. The documentation for a child theme adds the style sheets in functions.php using the function:
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_enqueue_styles', 1000);
However, when this loads the child theme, the js_composer.min.css file is loaded after the parent and child style sheets. Is this a bug or was it intentional?
If the priority above is changed to 1001, which matches the priority from the file td_wp_booster_functions.php (below), the style sheets are loaded in the correct order.
td_wp_booster_functions.php:
/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
* front end css files
*/
add_action('wp_enqueue_scripts', 'load_front_css', 1001); // 1001 priority because visual composer uses 1000
Hello GiacomoPapasidero,
Try to disable all the plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins. I noticed that you are using some untested plugins which can interact with the theme packet and cause a lot of unknown issues. If you are using the Jetpack plugin, you should disable the Photon plugin because this is a more problematic one and cause a lot of issues.
If is not what you mean, provide some useful screenshots to explain your problem.
Thanks for your understanding!
