Hi, I’ve got a bit of a mission on my hands in that I need to remove all my shortcodes, contained in my posts because this theme doesn’t have a migration mechanism. Not that I was expecting that, but I have found some themes do.
Anyway, I really want tabs in my posts and have ended up doing a mockup of a page using visual composer here: http://dev.tech-knowhow.com/2017/01/set-roon-audio-bridge-picoreplayer-raspberry-pi-hifiberry-dac-pro/#1483657727692-588765df-8139
I’m concerned about where the post data would be stored using this method. I have confirmed it is theme agnostic, which is nice, so I wouldn’t have this problem again, provided I stick with Visual Composer. Nevertheless, I’m not sure if other plugins and things would be able to reference the data correctly, I’ll do a test soon, but fairly confident it won’t be able to, potentially resulting in even more pain later.
So I have this amazing Newspaper theme and can’t use it due to the migration work required.
I’ve set it all up at http://dev.tech-knowhow.com and the original site is https://www.tech-knowhow.com
I understand I have support from Visual Composer through this theme, could someone please find out for me what is the recommended way to have custom post types such as what I’ve made here? I could just purchase support for Visual Composer if needed as I had that with my original theme anyway.
Thanks,
Hi, I purchased your theme yesterday, I have been hunting around for this info since then having not realised I now have a shortcode migration issue. Apparently this is not uncommon and some themes now offer a migration script for shortcodes (apparently not yours).
I use tabs on my post pages (as seen here) now which is nice as it keeps everything above the fold (multimag theme) and makes the user experience a lot nicer than having long or paginated posts. What I REALLY want (for some time now) is a post template that ‘pre’ sets my post page format to include the tabs so that other writers don’t need to be stuffing around with page setups. Keeping a consistent look and feel is extremely important to the reader.
I will try enabling Visual composer on posts in my dev site to see if that works. So far though, it looks like I’m going to have the daunting task of updating each page manually, or pay someone to write a script, but have no idea where I’d even go for that.
I mention all this because there is clearly a market for migrating shortcodes and it seems the tagdiv team are not as advanced in this area as others. Maybe you can integrate something into your new Visual Composer replacement that handles this.
Hi
OK, I have updated the theme installing the envato plugin. Q1: Does thos mean I will never have to update the theme manually again? Q2: Where do I find the current version of my theme?
I still do not have ImageBox as an option, and I u understand it I will still have to update Visial Composer manually as described here https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/. Q3: Where do I find or download the file Newspaper\includes\plugins\js_composer.zip from? Q4: Can I somehowe make Visual Composer update itself automatically? I believe your FAQ says it will be updated with the theme?
I also use Slider Ravolution. Q5: How do I update that plugin? Can I make it updating itself as well
Thnaks.
Hi,
None of you own content will be deleted by the theme. When you install a demo, there is an option to include content like posts, menus etc. If you uninstall the demo the import system will remove only the included demo content not your own, then you can choose to install a different demo and add your content, or create your own pages using the customizing possibilities of Visual Composer. You can change the demos without any concerns regarding you own content because it won’t be affected.
Thanks
Hello,
Well if the plugin caused the issue, it means that there is most likely a setting in the plugin that causes this issue. WPML is not tested with our theme so i cannot say for sure. It could conflict with another plugin not just the theme. Try this: Disable all plugins except wpml and visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. And check if the category filters work properly.
Thanks.
You do not need any section ID for any element in our theme. That option is there because visual composer put it there but our theme does not need it.
Please specify exactly what you are trying to achieve because you do not need the section ID anywhere.
I suspect this is what you want to replicate: http://screencast.com/t/QAj8yUzh
Please follow this topic if this is the case
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/demo-black/
You can add content to the tabs using the visual composer controls: http://www.screencast.com/t/eisHNUJzCI
Thank you!
Hi,
Make sure the Big Grid is on a the full row in order to display properly, there just isn’t enough space for it set on a 2/3-1/3 layout. Please check out the Big Grid demo here – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/ also if you want to read more on Visual Composer – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ If everything is ok in that regard please provide a link to your website so i can inspect it closer.
Thanks
Hi,
If you are missing any theme options you should create a fresh install of the theme by following this guide:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and checking for any plugins that can cause conflicts with the theme. DIsable all of them except visual composer and then clear cache to see if there is a plugin conflict going on.
Thanks.
Hello,
I found the pages were not showing because of an unrelated javascript error… which stopped proceeding javascript from Visual Composer executing and hence showing the posts.
Thanks for your response!
Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
If the problem is still there contact us on our email address at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this topic so we can trace the email if it should go into ‘spam’.
Thank you!
Hello,
The image box comes from the theme, not visual composer so you will have to upgrade the theme as well.
Please use this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and then update visual composer using the guide above.
Thank you!

Hi Mark,
You should also check for plugins as this is a very common issue when there is an incompatible plugin with the theme. The theme js is the first to break. The correct steps for debugging such an issue is to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
Hello,
1. The latest articles is different from a block. It is a section added by the page template as the guide in my previous reply shows. Since it;s not a standard block it cannot be moved around. But the alternative is not tu use the pagebuilder + latast articles template and simply create a block you want and filter it to show the posts that you want by changing it’s block settings
2. The sidebar in visual composer is created on a split row. You split a row in a 2/3 + 1/3 layout and you have to place content in the single column on the right (or left depending on preference)
Here is an example: http://screencast.com/t/4jvItqJqaZ
3. Refer to point 1 🙂
Thanks.
Hello sir.
How to edit ‘APLICATIONS’ and ‘HOT NEWS’ block on frontpage ? Because when i edit page from backend using Visual Composer, there are no those 2 blocks.
Front Page :
http://prntscr.com/drk5c9
Backend :
http://prntscr.com/drk5sa
Thank you.
Well i’m not sure exactly. I don’t know what the code is supposed to do. You will have to try it out in the files mentioned above. The code provider will have an answer about how it should be implemented. I cannot say for sure if it will even work with our theme or not.
I added your code in a simple text block in visual composer and the elements appeared so if you want to implement it instead of the related articles, you can simply remove the realted articles element from the post templates and replace it with a do_shortcode function and use this shortcode
[vc_column_text]
<div id="POSTQUARE_WIDGET_101512"></div>
<script data-cfasync="false">
(function(P,o,s,t,Q,r,e){P['PostquareObject']=Q;P[Q]=P[Q]||function(){ (P[Q].q=P[Q].q||[]).push(arguments)},P[Q].l=1*new Date();r=o.createElement(s), e=o.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];r.async=1;r.src=t;e.parentNode.insertBefore(r,e) })(window,document,'script','//widget.engageya.com/_pos_loader.js','__posWidget');
__posWidget('createWidget',{wwei:'POSTQUARE_WIDGET_101512',pubid:174665,webid:146748,wid:101512,on:'postquare'});
</script>[/vc_column_text]
I hope this helps.
Oh..sorry there was a misunderstanding. I though you meant the related articles on posts.
If this is on a page then you can use visual composer easily and move blocks to what position you like.
The latest articles is a bit trickier though as if you want it moved, you will need to use an other page template that does not have the latest articles section: https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/ and then simply create a block you can name “latest articles” and place it where you want on the page.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
If you want to add an image on the homepage you can use the single image element in visual composer. If his image is the featured iamge from a particular post, you can use one of the theme blocks and filtered to only show one particular post from the block settings
Thanks.
Hi,
Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Make sure you have the latest version of the theme though as the latest version of the plugin is only available in newspaper 7.6
Thank you!
Hello,
It’s the latest visual composer update, not the theme update that changed the css for the elements.
Please use this code:
.wpb_text_column:last-child, .wpb_text_column p:last-child{
margin-bottom: 0!important;
}
As for the icons, please use font awesome 4 menus to insert icons inside the menu items.
Thank you!
Hi,
Sorry but the plugin is not tested so I cannot provide any official solution. You can try to use the shortcode implementation. It most definitely has a shortcode you can insert inside a raw html or simply inside a text box in visual composer. Please check with the plugin documentation to get the shortcode implementation method.
Thank you!

Hello,
The licenses to revolution slider and visual composer are the bundled licenses. There is no activation code for these versions so you cannot register them as the plugins keep mentioning. The activation message is not for the bundled version but the plugin authors did not remove the messages for these versions. Please ignore the activation messages for the plugins.
I see a fonts issue on your site so you should use this topic to implement the allow origin fix:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/strange-chinese-symbols-replaced-icons-and-arrows/
As for the images, how are you implementing them as the theme cannot recognize any of them featured images or content images. They are blank. No image is coming through at all. Please use the tiny mce editor in the post and the media library to insert images in your content, not any external source/plugin.
If you still have trouble with images, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
