After an update some months ago the landing page of the website ( which had a nice slider showing the most recent posts, totally different design ! ) broke.
I’ve tried to do some basic troubleshooting like reinstall plugins , reload theme but nothing brings it back to the original state. Not sure where to start or how to aproach this .
To clarify, before website home page used to have the menu sorting everything by categories :

Before every update, you need to deactivate the non-tested plugins with our theme and then update the theme and tagdiv plugins too.
Try to deactivate all the plugins and cache plugins that you use and try to reinstall the plugins again.

Thanks for the reply. After some additional inspection it seems that the plugin tag-div composer fails is not enabled and fails to activate. Even after reinstall , the behavior reproduces . Would this be a case for checking the actual hosts cpanel ( it’s an Azure web app)

I’ve deactivated all the plugins, tried reinstalation of tag-div again but after some time it fails and the provided error isn’t very helpful ‘an error occurred’ or something similar is displayed.
In one of the articles you mention above they mention a .htaccess file however I was not able to find this file on my web app. Not sure if this is relevant for this topic, im assuming if there was a DENY rule on the .htaccess file on my website, other plugins wouldn’t have worked as well.
Any other suggestions ?
Ok , I managed to progress a bit. One of the errors when trying to install tag-div composer was that the folder already existed. Since it was unresponsive to activation / removal via wordpress platform, i removed the tag-div folder from the wp-plugins folder; reinstalled the plugin and did manage to activate it!
Now , the website more or less returned to the original state however, there are still 2 issues.
1 – the home page no longer displays a slider with the featured image of each recently posted articles
2 – if you click on an article the page right hand side of there is some code spit out
