I have just purchased the new edition of the newspaper theme, but I can´t install it. After the upload of the theme it says “link expired – try it again”.

The message you get is quite common with WordPress. In most cases it can be easily fixed.
For example – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/the-link-you-followed-has-expired/
In that case the max upload size was limited, increasing it solved the problem. Usually this is the main cause.
Check this guide carefully and make modifications if needed

If everything is set properly there should be no problem. Contact your hosting provider if needed and ask them to make changes as the guide suggests.
You can also install the theme by FTP, that is not difficult to do and it’s very useful to know how to use FTP. If our guide is not detailed enough check some more online

Thanks a lot! I will check it out in a couple of hours. One more question: I have created a backup server with updraft. Can I install the theme on my backup server first and then on my regular page or will there be a problem regarding the license?

Our theme as well as all other envato themes fall under the same standard license.
The license is created by envato and all envato members have to stick to it.

As long as you do not use the license on more than 1 website for prolonged periods of time, it should be ok.

Thank you very much! I just want to test it first, because I have made some adjustments regarding the size of the thumbnails in newpaper 9.0.1 and I don’t want to risk anything that could mess up my site.
I have just tried to install it via Ftp, but it did not work. The upload to the themes folder was okay, but when I go to the themes in the admin area, I cannot see it there. Do I have to do any adicional steps?
