How do I get the Newspaper theme to work on a full blown site without messing anything up.
I was previously using Newspaper 6 on my site before I switched to another theme, after the switch which I used for some time, I discovered that Newspaper is still the best and tried switching back but when I tried to install one of the predefined layouts for the homepage, the visual composer tab kept on loading for ever.
How do I get this theme to work and how do I update to the current version without messing anything up?

Before making any changes in your site make sure you do a full backup to your current wp-install and the database also: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
Make sure you do a clean install, please check our documentation for more details in this regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and also update Visual Composer at V 4.12 which is included in theme’s patch: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ During the update process deactivate all plugins, just to make sure that there is no conflict.
After the update is complete clear all caches, purge the cdn if you’re using then test the site and check how it works.

As for cache memory you can empty it them then deactivate the plugin used for cache.

Furthermore, I am unable to delete the previous version of the theme when I tried to Update the theme via WordPress. When I click on delete, I get this error message “Deletion failed: The requested theme does not exist” and but the theme is right there
Best bet is to learn to use FTP (e.g., Feedzilla, CuteFTP, etc.) … you can then login to your site, go to your plugins folder, or theme folder, and *see* what is actually there. Delete old folder, upload new folder, etc.
This is best way to ensure nothing is broken by your WP installer, etc.
