I upgraded to newspaper 9 and everything was fine, but tagdiv compressor stopped working. It sort of loads the page but freezes with alot of code showing and keeps just loading, cant add or amend any elements.

Does that happen with all the pages when you use the composer? Try it with a new page.
Could be insufficient memory and other parameter values

Eventually memory could run out and problems may begin to happen. Or maybe you installed a plugin or made some modification before the issues started to happen, that is worth checking as well. Does the same happen if you deactivate all plugins except theme plugins?

and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
WP_MEMORY_LIMIT try to increase it at least to 256mb.
Please add this code in the .htaccess , file at the end of the file:
