these are cache plug in . I am using w3 total cache
That’s why you have the problem. W3TC is not fully compatible with Newspaper.
The Staff recomended only WP SUper Cache

As my colleague Andrei said you above, the W3 Total Caches is not a tested plugin and therefore you should try to disable it and install our tested plugin like WP Super Cache. Until now we have not encountered any bad reports in this regard.

I set featured image for specific category..The current one available is default global setting fro all the category.

Now I have changed the category setting to default as the image was not displayed as shown in the link mentioned.

Try to disable all the active plugins, clear all your cache and install only the plugins that come bundled wit hour theme and rule out any conflicting plugins.
