We’ve done a lot with this theme for quite a while with a lot of customizations. Migrated it over two years ago from Movable Type to WordPress and this theme. We are all things denim with 16,000 posts to-date. Feedback for improvements is always appreciated or willing to share how we did certain things with others. We’re using the current version 6.3.2. https://denimology.com

Wouldn’t a protocol-relative url work well here (e.g. //ajax.googleapis.com/…)?

I opened the debugger through chrome for the Nexus 5 and this is the error that is popping up:

Error when loading script

(The ver=x is due to the latest full update of Newspaper having it’s version number set to “x”. Even after applying the patch update which has the correct ver=3.4 I’m still getting the error)

I believe there is a whole gravatar thing here, but I just spotted this new simple plug-in last night that should do what you want. It’s compatible with WordPress 3.8 if you are using WordPress. I plan on installing it later after I update the latest theme update that came out today.
