Just a site owner and using WordPress because it is fun to use. Love to watch horror movies and talk about it on my website.

I am in maintenance mode right now trying to deactivate all plugins that could affect the Speed Booster plugin from activating without commenting the certain code in td-speed-booster.php and this shows up for BuddyPress.

v4.2 – Disabled – incompatible plugin detected: buddypress/bp-loader.php. That is with no changes to BuddyPress at all. Default install of BuddyPress.

So now what?

I even pretty much deactivated all plugins and this Speed Booster complains about them all. Only one it does not complain about is Visual Composer and WP Super Cache. I do not like using the Yoast SEO plugin and I am using All In One SEO. It is like we can’t use anything on plugins with this plugin except for only ones you have used but surprise you say BuddyPress is supported but not by Speed Booster plugin.

I am going to stick with no Speed Booster plugin since it is pretty much a complain plugin.

This “td-ss-row” goes in the row css class not in the widgetized sidebar class. Edit it row it is on and add to the css class.

Just read you last post awtown about child theme being updated but it does not need to be. It is the theme that needs the update, not the child theme. Child theme is the same every theme update. Consists of functions.php and the css file.

If you are using the child theme then do the ftp overwriting the old theme with newer version way. You don’t have to delete the theme at all just unzip the new folder package and unzip theme folder and make sure you just upload the unzipped folder of the name with all the files of theme right over the older one on your server. It will just overwrite what is on your server.

Really, it is that easy. You don’t even have to deactivate the child theme this way either.

I can also agree that updates were easy enough for me to do too. No complications at all. Not saying you are wrong the one that says used WordPress for like 15 years but updating the theme is not that hard. I even used both methods with dashboard and ftp and they work just fine either way. I did not even update the plugins from v2.2 to v2.3 and v2.3.1. Nothing gave me issues. Last two times updating. I just uploaded the folder of new version, overwriting the older via ftp and it works just fine as before, and I am not even using the child theme.

All my modifications are in the custom code section of themepanel. That does just as good as using a child theme to me. This is one of the best and simplest updates with this theme as possible and I had no hiccups yet with it.

I should not say no plugins were updated. Visual Composer was updated every time they gave a new update to the plugin with theme update. I don’t use Revolution Slider because that is one hard to use plugin for just a slider. Way too many options on it. So the only plugin I updated was Visual Composer and I kept the Social Counter the same and still was fine with no errors.

I am an idiot. I just remembered you can enable and disable for desktop and mobile in ads settings. Duh, LOL!

You can tell the size changes when you go from homepage to article. I have to regenerate images because I lost the right side of featured images.

Thanks for that!

The sites look fantastic! Don’t mind my other post. I will deal if it doesn’t get shown. I am always sounding mean.

I entered twice last time. Unless there is a thing against horror movies. I think I will pass this next time. Looks like most of the ones on the showcase are not United States.

Be careful if you are using bbPress or buddypress, that you will mess up your styling with speed booster enabled. I have stopped using even with commenting the code out it still mess up the tabs in bbPress and buddypress. If it was fixed for the styling, then I would use speed booster but I don’t even see a difference in site loading either it installed or not.

I guess not too many people are using buddypress to even notice the tabs change. Tabs go fat after speed booster installed but uninstalled the tabs look normal. They also go from hover showing black to grey and the number status on tabs go from round to stop sign shape. So this is why I stopped using speed booster. This has been since I bought the theme in July.

I changed ‘top: 62px;’ to ‘top: 55px;’ to be even with description top part. 62 made it with user role being slightly lower than description.

@Andrei L. Thanks so much and it helps a lot.

Don’t know if you can also give CSS code to fix the avatar hovering over group description too and fix in one of the next updates as with other. See image of a group and current user avatar is hovering over the description which I think should not be like that.

Thanks! I will try it out.

Update: That worked. I appreciate that!

Using UserPro now. Since BuddyPress has that problem and UserPro looks a heck of a lot better.

Okay, thanks for the information.

There is this plugin that looks like you are asking about but it is not up to date with WordPress latest.

It is alright to make the mistake of forgetting that you guys actually added that but it does not work even after hours of it enabled.

This must be me imagining this in your theme panel. If your saying its not there then what is this?

Weather

Oh and by the way, its still not even working even if you have forgot about that. Something you guys decided to forget and leave in there, that did not work?

I will see if anything happens after a little bit with the refresh from openweathermap. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure why it isn’t showing.

doucare1971
tagDiv Member

Nope still not as easy as just reading that. I still have to add a menu item for the weather and there is nothing to explain what link or anything to add to that menu item for the weather to even show up. This is difficult without any information on how to get that weather to even show up on top bar. I am going to give up on it. Find a widget instead.

doucare1971

Documentation says there is top bar templates folder in the panel directory but there is no images at all for setting up the api. So that does not work without the images anyways. So I am just going to give up on this and not even bother with the api since there is no images to even work with for the top bar.

LOL! I am stupid! I just read the text on the top bar settings on top and it says “The top bar is the black top menu. It is very useful when you want to add a login option, social icons and pages like About us, Contact us etc… If you are an advanced user and want to customize it or register new top bar layouts, have a look at our top bar template API”.

So basically the API is only for the advanced users and I should be able to see the weather on top right with it enabled anyways. Just don’t have a templates added for top bar. So if I just enable and wait it refreshes the weather for the top bar? Em I correct on that?

Do I need to use the child theme for it?

Update: nope it did not work even with child theme activated.

As long as it is not just ads only scrolling. This means you have to have other content or widgets besides ads. So lets say one ad and at least 2+ widgets on the sidebar. They don’t like just ads only scrolling and it is considered floating ads, which is against their policy.

Not any issues with not scrolling or not smart sidebar but without other widgets it looks like big white space when going down the page.
