Is the same thing with all other newspaper plugins? You need to delete them manually one by one and then upload and install them again one by one?

Yeah I updated from 8 to 8.1.
Version 8 worked without any problems. And now we are back on version 8, and it still works without problems.

Anyway after hour trying to fix it different ways, and I noticed that other users have similar problems with new version, I went back to old version.

I updated the theme as should, as always.
Via ftp my only choice would be to delete the whole folder and then upload new one. Because otherwise I will press yes overwrite for every file (because our hosting system) 😉
Updating theme plugins would be the same way. Since WordPress does not let you update newspaper plugins that way. I need to delete folder first and then upload and install them again. <- You guys should add plugins to your theme update, so all newspaper plugins would be updated automatically together with newspaper theme. I always thought that your plugins are included into update. Do I really need after every newspaper theme update manually delete newspaper plugins and then install them manually? <- It’s not called update, itäs called delete and install. 🙂

Newspaper Theme version: 8.0

And no I don’t mean that. Because ACTIVE & HOVER COLOR changes menu background. What I am looking is to change TEXT color too, like you see in other settings like SUB MENU have -> SUB-MENU ACTIVE & HOVER TEXT COLOR.

I changed submenu hover background to #fffffe and hover text to #4db2ed. That way it works. But not with #ffffff and #4db2ec. Strange. Any clue what may cause it that this two colors does not work anymore? I know that it worked before when I set these colors previously.

Was hoping that you guys found already time to make it better.

Anyway I was thinking to change it, but same time it may make problems to me in the future. If something changes…

So maybe you guys can add some option or something where people can request something and then pay for that requested feature? 😉 I would happily pay for better review system, because it needs to be changed, to be more user (visual) friendly.

At the moment I add extra line where I write game name add again score there, because without that line it does not show review at all. And then add manually pros and cons, and also include <br> end of every line.

Actually, I think I found a solution for that problem. Changed post template (style 5) for Smart List posts. That way I have featured post and thumbnail, but it does not show up in Smart List post.

Hi I probably did not explain myself clearly. Okay I am trying again.

I did not add featured image there because IF I add featured image then it would be TOP ON EVERY LIST PAGE <- kind of ruins the smart list idea. I see you do not understand what I mean, so I will add featured image now to that post and will make one screenshot.

Now once I added featured image it sits there on top on every list item/page. That’s why I did not add featured image there at all. I can be okay if smart list show featured image on first page (first list item) but would be nice if does not show up there at all.

At the moment I am trying to figure out how to do it that way that there would be featured image for thumbnail but same time it does not ruin list page.

About WPBakery Visual Composer. I am using the latest one which came with Newspaper theme (version 7.7). Can’t update Visual Composer directly via plugins updates, because I do not own Visual Composer license. And because of that we were forced to turn off auto-updates and security notifications (because of that not up to date Visual Composer we started receive lots of warnings notifications and emails about that this plugin is not up to date. Already complained about it previously. 😉

If I try to update Visual Composer I will get error -> “An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: To receive automatic updates license activation is required. Please visit Settings to activate your Visual Composer. Got Visual Composer in theme?”

Custom css was first thing I checked. Disabled it and it did not change anything. And I have not yet changed anything in child theme, it’s still same default child theme. Anyway just in case I switched to default newspaper theme and it’s still same. Not tested plugins yet, but it’s easy to test. And since you guys have same problem, it means we both are using same plugin then (jetpack, SEO plugins <- this two had around same time new update).

For info I am also using News Magazine demo, this one had layout (top and other stuff) the way I liked and thought that way I need to make less changes, mostly some small stuff like colors.

Anyway like I wrote, since your own NEWS MAGAZINE (maybe others too, not looked enough around yet) DEMO looks after update exactly same way, it means that you guys have exact same issue. 😉 So it would be awesome if you guys look more into it and fix it in first hand. 😉

About the article bottom “more articles”, the way it was before was pretty okay. But since it’s changed at the moment. I think that the way Newspaper demo have it is pretty nice ->

Selected one text -> white, not selected one -> black. Except line and background color would be nice if they are black. But default one was actually pretty acceptable too. But since I changed ACCENT (is it the right/proper place to change your link color?) color this one of course changed too. Anyway I think black would be better since all other titles around the web are using black too.

Also, since I already looked again Newspaper demo, more and more I look it, this font what you guys are using for titles there are pretty nice and I would like to use it for my web titles too. At the moment I am using for titles News Magazine demo default for titles. Which font you are using in Newspaper demo and where in theme panel is the proper way to change it?

And another thing I noticed after update. I am not 100% sure at the moment is is it because the latest update or I was just lucky to not see that issue before. One article picture appeared to be bigger than others. by default all thumbnails should be exactly same size there.

Also noticed that article bottom “more articles” section using block-title css, but since I already changed that part of css (check below) this blue color should be actually black there already. Or did I miss something?

Thanks for answer. These changes gave me exactly these results I needed. And yeah I wanted to change line color for all of them, including widget area. Thanks a lot.

I meant all these changes what you can do via Newspaper Theme panel. Anyway, actually it works as it should by default. All previous changes come through. I just had one mistake in code, once I removed it, all the main template changes I did before applied to new child theme too now.

Never had any problems with Facebook sharing with any other themes before. Default themes and Valenti showed that info by default as it should be. Anyway I activated SEO Yoast back ON, and yeah it removed unnecessary information from post description.

fix: home breadcrumb does not appear as structured data as required by the google metadata testing tool

I have not switched breadcrumbs back ON, but other data like POST TOPIC, AUTHOR, DATE and COMMENTS count is still included facebook post description.

After update our facebook and instagram urls are defined incorrect urls now and on the page it adds now site ULR before facebook and instagram urls.

Other ones: Steam, Twitter, Youtube URLS works without problem.

And of course 30 seconds after I posted it I found it. 😉

Ok thanks, then let me ask it other way. What’s the body font name? 🙂 Because it looks like review, article descriptions and everything are using at the moment one type of font, but posts have totally different font. If body type is excellent to read, then same time posts font is not easy to read.

And Theme Fonts panel does not show wich font you are using at the moment, it will show default everywhere until you change these fonts. And I would like to add posts same font as everything else on the page is using. 😉

I guess you have the similar problem what I had. Try this one ->
Go to Theme Panel > post settings > GENERAL MODAL IMAGE > switch it OFF.
