The thing is that we are not using WordPress anymore. I’ve told the client that the issue was not WordPress but the theme itself but they forced me to move to another solution.

We are now using a custom made open source platform for big news sites. We are at 1.2 million visits per month.

I can’t share the name yet, we have only used for 3 weeks and I’m just getting used to it. There are some very nice things and some others that I missed from WP so much.

Just do your own research, I’m sure there are several themes availables for big sites or jump to another kind of solution.

For all of those who are suffering this issue I was the guy that opened this thread.

We waited more than 5 months. I even defended the DEV team from this theme to allow them time to fix it.

This thread has a LOT of information and the same issue is reported over and over again.

So, after this extremely long waiting here is the conclusion:

If your project is an small project or a demo site (just for fun) use this theme.

If your project is a serious one, stop using Newspaper. It doesn’t work with big sites.

The dev team confirmed the issue so there is nothing else to talk about. The theme doesn’t work and they are not going to fix it soon.

Buy another theme. Period.

I’m leaving this thread. We already changed the theme for a faster one.

Thanks everyone for sharing all the information and workarounds to fix this.

I think it’s a ver good thread with a lot of valuable information to let the dev team solve this issue instead of using some patches or plugins to solve a real problem.

Once the problem is solved, all solutions given in this thread could speed the sites up even more and that’s a good news.

But let’s give the Tagdiv team some time so they could fix the real issue. I’m sure they’ll come up with some fix.

I notice that you add new demos very constantly. Haven’t the dev team thought that is a better idea to optimize the theme instead of keeping adding demos?

If so, does this next update includes the fix of the reported issue?

Yes, I didn’t reply because I felt that they don’t want to help.

I mean, the template is called “Newspaper” but you can’t post several posts a day because some features won’t work. Or once the site is 2 years old, due to the number of posts, some features won’t work.

That’s not advertised and it should be. Newspaper works only for small sites, not real newspapers.

You haven’t read my request. If so, there is no way you can answer that.

So, again:

My site is PERFECTLY optimized. Means: don’t share links on how to optimize my site, I don’t need them.

Once I activate a feature of your theme, the site performs extremely badly. Means: I’m not asking about page speed, I’m reporting an issue with that feature.

Can anyone help, please?

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, that was exactly the problem. The weirdest thing is that the image was (and was not) there. There wasn’t an image’s placeholder that appears when there is no image selected. But as soon as I clicked in the little square to replace the image (transparent) something was indeed there, but it has no URL or any detail.

Anyways, extremely weird but already solved.

I’m running WordPress v5.5 and the last version of Newspaper theme v10.3.6.1

I’ll make a full backup tonight once the traffic goes down and I’ll try to install all over again. In case I can’t make it work, I’ll email the team with the admin credentials and FTP access.

@norm0722 if your site is loading slow and your menu and images are not loading is not the same issue as the OP posted.

You should open your own topic so the supporters will help you faster.

This topic will help others with my question because is the same exact issue and more investigation from the team will lead to have more information here on how to solve the problem.

Sorry to highjack this thread but the same thing happened to me. I’ve followed every single step and there is no change. Composer keeps trying to load infinitely and nothing happens.

Maybe I’m getting something wrong.

I’ve installed the plugin you suggested to remove unused thumbnails from my server. It says: “Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes in order to free up server space. This may result in broken images in your posts and pages.”

So, once I run that, it will result in broken images. What’s the sense in that?

Then, It says that my thumbnails are 17 different sizes. I only have 11 activated in my Newspaper Theme panel. So, once again, what’s the sense in regenerating all of them?

My question still remains. I need to remove all the thumbnails that the template is not using. So, how can I do that? Please, I need some help, I really need to reduce the 400,000 inodes that I have in the server urgently.
