Hi Andrei, it’s fixed!

I’ve changed the td_templates_settings.php file like you showed and now it’s working again for Contibutors. So for now I’m happy 🙂

Since it used to work for Contributors in v2.x (I’m pretty sure of that) I want to ask you to make it work that way in future updates of the theme too. Not just for me, but because I think that’s the most logical situation: We have many Contributors that write articles and reviews but we don’t want them to publish them because someone else is in charge of that. But, as the link to Roles & Capabilities states, Contributors have full rights to write articles. So seems most logical to me that this also allowed them to write reviews and that requires access to the Review section of the Post Settings too, don’t you agree?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

we have a visitor on our site that experienced the same. Is using IE on Android 4.2. I can’t reproduce it since I have a newer Android and can’t find and IE browser for it.

But since it’s similar to this thread and same color with gradient, I hope that you have some kind of fix.
Thanks!

Hi Andrei,

Let me try to rephrase: For the desktop site we have a fairly large background photo. The mobile version of Newsmag doesn’t show the background image, but it still get loaded, so it’s a waste of bandwidth and transfer time.

Is there a way to not load the background image at all, on the mobile version?

With my fingers crossed and backups in place I did the upgrade. And you’re right that it’s fairly simple to do. But since we have over a dozen of bulky plugins I always get cold sweat with updates like these.

What I do by the way, is simply rename the (folder) new version to Newsmag_3_1 and upload it next to the previous versions. I don’t see a reason why that should’t work, is it? And then I update our child theme accordingly. (CSS & functions.php).

I get this notice in my wp-admin and across the whole site: “Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!” Also need to reinstall stuff?

This is interesting: It’s not the main issue that http videos are not shown in a https website (in Chrome and FF), but it’s because the http video is loaded in an iframe!

_Explanation:_
There’s a difference between active mixed content and passive mixed content. Mixed passive content is img – audio – video – embed and is safe to show. Iframe is not. Also script is not.

Mixed Active Content is content that has access to all or parts of the Document Object Model of the HTTPS page. This type of mixed content can alter the behavior of the HTTPS page and potentially steal sensitive data from the user. Hence, in addition to the risks described for Mixed Display Content above, Mixed Active Content is vulnerable to a few other attack vectors.

See https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Security/MixedContent#Mixed_active_content

It would be best if https support is all over in the theme. But from a content/visitor perspective the solution would also be to replace the iframe embed from the featured video template. Is that an option?

Thanks but fix (Chris instruction) seems way to time consuming for me now, it’s no showstopper. I’m gonna wait for the official update.

Thanks in advance – am looking forward to it!

Same https issue here, featured videos not showing.
Replaced all http > https in /wp_booster/td_video_support.php but still no videos. (cleared cache)

Any other options, or is update expected real soon?
Thanks!
