With your Speed Booster Pack settings:

1.Loads javascript files from Google Libraries

2.Defers parsing of javascript files.

3.Removes query strings from static resources

4.Load CSS asynchronously

5.Minify all CSS styles

6.Insert all CSS styles inline to the footer

Remove junk header tags

Is there a way to stop the Google Adsense Ads loading first? When you access a page, it’s all white for a second, then the ads popup in the wrong places then the css kicks in and the whole page looks correct again.

Thank you πŸ™‚

I’ll download the ‘speedbooster pack plugin’ now. Does it use much resources on the server?

Thanks πŸ™‚

@Steven I see what you mean. I’ve currently deactivated it and i’ll see how I ‘cope’ with manually sharing the links on my social networks sites instead of automatically for a few days. Maybe i’m just lazy… But if it improves my sites performance and I keep the Newspaper themes, i guess it’s a positive.

I’ll provide my plugin results shortly.

Just having a problem with this code you sent me:

function remove_cssjs_ver( $src ) {
if( strpos( $src, β€˜?ver=’ ) )
$src = remove_query_arg( β€˜ver’, $src );
return $src;
}
add_filter( β€˜style_loader_src’, β€˜remove_cssjs_ver’, 10, 2 );
add_filter( β€˜script_loader_src’, β€˜remove_cssjs_ver’, 10, 2 );

When i add it to my function.php it causes my whole website to have a white screen and no code is found in the page source. What’s the fix for this? :s

Thanks πŸ™‚

Thanks for the tips.

I will see if I can deactivate ‘JM Twitter Cards’ and use the SEO plugin for Twitter cards. There must of been a reason why i wanted another plugin, but can’t remember. I’m sure i’ll find out soon πŸ™‚

I’m now going to try ‘All In One WP Security & Firewall’ and see if that helps.

Which functions.php do i edit? The WP core or the themes?

EDIT: I can’t unfortunately use CloudFlare as i’m using a different CDN service.

@TheMediumUTM Thanks for the tips.

Jetpack: I’m now using only 4 features within this plugin. I’m now viewing my stats on Google and WordPress.com

Hide My WP: Since looking at your advice i’ve removed this plugin from my website. It’s true, i guess. If someone wanted to hack my website they could tell i’m using WordPress straight away. I’m using this plugin: ‘Wordfence Security’, so hopefully it will prevent hackers.

Wordpress SEO: I need some sort of SEO plugin to help with my news website. I believe this is one of the best?

Social Networks Auto Poster: This plugin saves time, really. I have it post to my social networks because it gives me more time to create new articles than trying to promote/share my content on social media, which takes up more time. Are there any better plugins than this one?

Easy Social Share Buttons: I removed the TagDiv share buttons because they weren’t loading fast enough. I found this plugin and it seems to have more features and allows me to customise it more.

Adminimize: Allows me to simplify the backend for my editors, and lets me hide specific plugins which i don’t want my team to see. But i suppose deactivating it creates more risk? Such as myCRED, most of the settings pop up for non-admin users, which i don’t want. See my problem? :/

Thanks πŸ™‚

Hello Christopher,

For my images i have a SSL CDN for all my content including pictures, so size should’t matter too much but i still optimise my images, just in case.

I have WordPress register turned off, and have no forums on my website. The only accounts on my WordPress website are for editors only.

Your sitemap example is very interesting, so i’ll have to look into this and see if i have multiple plugins doing the same thing.

Thanks for the tips, i will check out the compatibility of my plugins and deactivate the ones that have large load times (listed above in previous post on this topic).

That’s what i thought, because i couldn’t find any topics relating to this.

I removed CloudFlare and brought a CDN for WordPress πŸ™‚

Gee95

@Thakksy Thanks for posting your website, looks amazing πŸ™‚ Hoping to take some tips about your ‘About’ pages and your ‘Contact’ page to help get myself into Google News as well πŸ™‚

Gee95
tagDiv Member

@Christopher Thanks, but i don’t think it’s my technical requirements that are denying my application to Google News because that’s perfect (url structures and content etc) but my ‘About Pages’ and listing biographies about each editors.

These requirements i’m struggling with as i don’t want to put too much details about my editors down, but i don’t know how much is enough?

Hope that makes sense πŸ™‚

Gee95

@Thakksy Thanks for the tip! Could you email me your website address so i can check it out? I may have got the Google News site requirements incorrect for this theme? πŸ™‚

Gee95

@Thakksy Congratulations! I still haven’t got in yet, don’t think Google likes me very much! haha, haven’t done anything to upset them though.. :/

@neotrope Many thanks Christopher, Would you recommend changing my format from PNG to JPEG?

Also. thanks for the ‘Compress PNG for WP’ plugin, will check that out πŸ™‚

I’m not sure?

Currently I’ve deleted ‘td_less_editor-style.php’ and it works again, the style is back to normal. Do I need that file? or am I okay to use the theme without it?

Thanks πŸ™‚

Gee95
tagDiv Member

I’ve been messing around and it is using the LESS_CSS styling.

If i delete td_less_editor-style.php the font changes, but if i edit the file Radu said here: http://screencast.com/t/e8vUszQi the font doesn’t change?

Is there a way i can disable the backend using the LESS_CSS styling and use the default WordPress styling with Newspaper V 4.1 (released 29th July)?

Thanks πŸ™‚

Any help peeps? πŸ™‚

Gee95

I’ve tired disabling all my plugins, but the issue is still there.
Any other solutions? πŸ™‚

Thanks.

Gee95

Since i updated the theme, the post font (when writing posts [wp-admin/post-new.php]) is very large and is different than before. It’s making it really hard to write or format the text (in all web browsers) for all roles.

Any fixes?

Gee95

Post Template: Style 4
Picture doesn’t fit correctly on mobile devices. Not sure if it’s a bug or not?

Gee95
tagDiv Member

It looks like it only happens when i activate the plugin.

I’m currently using the plugin ‘WP Fastest Cache’ until we can fix the W3 Cache plugin, because that’s the only plugin that seems to work at the moment.

I have sent you an email with WP access and FTP access, ignore what it says in the email. To test you will need to deactivate the ‘WP Fastest Cache’ and enable W3 Cache.

Thanks πŸ™‚

Gee95

@neotrope Thanks, i’ve selected the option ‘Compress all content’ in my cPanel, this should do the trick. Thanks for all the tips guys πŸ™‚ Will report back soon.

Gee95

Oh, i’ve never heard of ‘Cloudflare’ before. Is it simple to install on WordPress?

Thanks again πŸ™‚
