Hi,

I will try that code, where should I put it? Btw, I want 300 font weight, not 400. So should I change that “400” value to “300” I’m guessing?

Also, changing the comment section colors using the code you have provided me:

.comment-author .vcard .fn a{color:#00FF00 !important;}
.comment-body p a{color:#C0C0C0 !important;}
.comment-author.vcard .fn a{color:#e29700 !important;}
.comment-author.vcard .fn a:hover{color:#FF0000 !important;}
.comment-list .comment-meta a{color:#303030 !important;}

Does not seem to work.

The switch from Roboto 400 to 300 is still not complete for me… Please help.
And for some reason, my Roboto font is crossed out and skips to the next font, which is Helvetica Neue…

This makes absolutely no sense.

Actually, don’t bother reading above, things have changed since then, I will re-post the update. Thanks.

Hi Lucian,

And thanks for replying. I am now able to change fonts, their sizes and etc; that is the good news. Also, I don’t know what happened, but now the issue with Roboto being crossed out has been fixed!

However, there’s just one thing I need to ask you, because it’s a problem I am having with my Font.

http://s12.postimg.org/48p2mb99n/Screen_Shot_2014_09_19_at_4_12_38_PM.png

As you can see, I have a font on my website using Roboto Condensed… But the thing is, in Typography settings, there’s not a SINGLE font that is set for Roboto Condensed… I don’t know where I can go to change this font to Oswald or any other font…

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Lucian,

Actually, I don’t think I got the email, please contact me again via: kevinhan123@hotmail.com

Thank you

Hi Emil,

It did not work…

I get the same error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_action() in /home/leadnrr/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4632

And Line 4632 is: add_action( ‘pre_get_posts’, ‘be_exclude_category_from_blog’ );

Btw, my Featured category ID is actually : 44, because I erased the Featured category in the beginning not knowing why it was there in the first place.

Hello Emil,

The one you are looking at is set to Roboto, which is why it is working.

However, if you check the Content Font @ http://leadnr.com/video/10-reasons-creating-test-posts-cat

You will see that Roboto is not able to be read. It automatically skips Roboto and goes straight to Helvetica Neue

GosuSama

Also, I have set, in Typography settings in Theme Panel, all the fonts to either Roboto or Oswald, and yet I still get fonts like Ubuntu, PT Sans, and Roboto Condensed showing up…

This is incredibly frustrating now.

GosuSama

What do you mean, “better selector”? Do you mean font? I wish to use Roboto 300 to be exact.

I just don’t have any control over where I can place 400 or 300.. How can I get control of that?

BTW, I saw your screenshot @ http://screencast.com/t/xqfzmbH5Wl and it doesn’t look like mine does… weird.

And, now I’m getting another odd issue..

http://s17.postimg.org/f8rjxn3nh/Screen_Shot_2014_09_18_at_6_36_33_PM.png
http://s17.postimg.org/5bbh7gpq5/Screen_Shot_2014_09_18_at_6_36_41_PM.png

I tried all sorts of different fonts, tried messing with normal/default settings and customized typography settings but nothing budges… It just stays as Roboto.

Awesome! Worked beautifully, thanks!

Basically, I want to change the Content Font from 400 weight to 300 weight for Roboto font.

Thank you.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply as I’ve been very busy.
I tried what you have said, and it still didn’t work.

I completed steps 1 & 2, here’s 3 & 4, and I did these too (reference: http://s30.postimg.org/ozrjkkh33/Steps_3_and_4.jpg)

-I inserted (3) into the very first line after my <head> tag.
-I inserted (4) in the bottom of my style.css exactly as it was shown. I also tried inserting it like this:

CSS selector {
font-family: ‘Roboto’, sans-serif;
}

Nothing seems to work…

Thanks.

I did your above steps and I get this error…

I don’t understand why this stuff happens to me.. It’s like this theme hates me with a passion.

Please help.

Hello Emil,

I am not too versed in the technical side of WordPress, and I don’t think I made any changes to any CSS/overriding, so I wouldn’t know where to start. But everything should be “default” as I did not make any customizations to the website other than what I have attempted to do here.

The link is http://www.Leadnr.com

Thank you.

Hello,

And thanks for all your replies.

The above line of code: <?php echo $td_mod_single->get_social_sharing();?>

Is exactly what I was looking for.

However, the placement (http://screencast.com/t/hh4HA0OjgWAC) is not where I wish for it to go. I am looking for right above the content, as shown here: http://s11.postimg.org/j2vpcwjc3/Sharing_Above_The_Content.jpg

Where would I have to input that code now?

I assume I will have to change the following files you have red-boxed in here: http://screencast.com/t/H1cP82hF7EE

AKA -> loop-single.php, loop-single-1.php, single_template_2.php, single_template_3.php, single_template_4.php, single_template_5.php.

Thank you.

Hello Emil G,

I changed my code (above) to:

.comment-author .vcard .fn a{color:#00FF00 !important;}
.comment-body p a{color:#C0C0C0 !important;}
.comment-author.vcard .fn a{color:#e29700 !important;}
.comment-author.vcard .fn a:hover{color:#FF0000 !important;}
.comment-list .comment-meta a{color:#303030 !important;}

And it seems no changes were made to the comment section :s

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Oh okay. I see. I think I’ll forget about trying to rank for the Category pages then… And make sure they are all indexed, both the parent and the sub categories. I’ll still have custom exercpts, as you said I can improve the user experience much more if I add something that’s a bit more pleasing to click on, etc. I think that’s the best choice of action for me.

Thank you very much for clarifying my situation Crhistopher, I truly appreciate your time and expertise!

Hi Mr. Simmons,

Thank you for the reply, but now it makes me more unsure of my situation, so let me quickly clarify my situation.

http://leadnr.com/category/articles <- Is my Parent Category, “Article”.

http://leadnr.com/category/articles/entrepreneur <- Is 1 of 5 Sub-Categories for my Parent Category, “Article”.

– I wish to NOT rank for “Article” parent-category (due to the term being so broad); I wish to rank FOR the 5 sub-categories (i.e., Entrepreneur, Improvement, Productivity, Motivation, Lifestyle) instead, hence the reason why I wish to use NO-INDEX for “Article” category, and custom exercpts (and why I have no-indexed tags + date archive + author page, to avoid duplicate content). This way I will have unique content that can only be seen in my individual sub-category pages, hence enabling me to rank for these search terms without being penalized (i.e., duplicate content). [Note: If I use the sub-category, “Entrepreneur”, I will never use another subcategory in that same Parent Category (i.e., “Improvement)]

So that is my situation, I have 2 questions that I hope can resolve this thread issue:

===> Will doing the above have benefits for my situation, or cause more problems? Or should I just stick to indexing both Parent & Sub categories and forgetting about ranking on the sub-categories using customized exercpts?

===> For my other Parent Category, “Infographic”, I actually plan to do the opposite, meaning I will no-index the sub-categories, and index the parent category (since I would much rather rank for the term “Infographic” than any of my sub-categories)? Will this be okay, or should I stick to indexing both Parent & Sub categories and forgetting about ranking on the parent-category using customized exercpts?

===> You mentioned something about custom exercpts, is it okay to use them, in my case? Or should I stick to exercpts that come from the actual post?

Sorry for the troubles, but I think I will come to a full understanding now that I have better explained my situation.

Thank you.

Hi Lucian,

And thank you for the reply. It is no worries, I totally understand that you guys need a break too 🙂 I’m actually confused at why it was working for you, I tried to replicate these issues and all of them still persists for me… Could you please take a look again and see if it’s happening? I don’t even know where to begin to start replying to your message as I still have all these isues :s

GosuSama

Hi Christopher,

Actually I would like to share with you something. Around the time I created this thread, I also went to a SEO forum to answer the same question, to see what they have to say about this, and surprisingly, the only person who replied was against it. After reading both of what you guys have had to say, I would actually agree more with you, but it doesn’t help when someone thinks this is totally a bad idea.

Please check the SS (http://s28.postimg.org/7un6a4w4r/convo.jpg) of what he has replied to me.

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your help.

I’m curious, I wish to no-index a Parent Category, but does this simply mean that the actual category PAGE will not be indexed, yes? The actual posts that are under that Parent Category will not be affected at all, I assume. (likewise, if I did this for sub-categories?)

GosuSama
tagDiv Member

Oh okay… Sorry, I appologize for being rude to you. I thought you were someone who “worked” here (maybe with Customer Support), hence my frusteration and confusion at what you were saying at times.

GosuSama
tagDiv Member

Okay, well https://forum.tagdiv.com/pagespeed-guide/ is where I got this reference from, and it was suggested by “you” guys. The post date is July 20, 2014 which I would say is fairly new and should still be aplicable as of this date, as I see no reason why it should not be. And I’m sure if you bothered to replicate these steps to see what was wrong, we would be able to come to a conclusion already.

All I want is a fix for this. I’m following “your” guide to achieve removing render blocking css/js – using the TagDiv Speed Booster plugin as set out in: https://forum.tagdiv.com/pagespeed-guide/

I followed your instructions and it did not work. The only line of code that gives me a fatal error is “add_action( ‘wp_print_scripts’, ‘td_inspect_scripts’ );”. And that is also the line of code that enables me to see a list of all the ids for all the css and js (needed for the next step).

So I ask again, please help me get through this step successfully.

GosuSama
tagDiv Member

Okay… Well I just tried it with ALL the plugins deactivated and it still gives me the fatal error…

I’m simply following your instructions on removing render blocking css/js – using the TagDiv Speed Booster plugin by adding the code :

function td_inspect_scripts() {
global $wp_scripts, $wp_styles;
echo ‘registered scripts<br>’;
foreach ($wp_scripts->queue as $handle) {
echo $handle . ‘ | ‘ . $wp_scripts->registered[$handle]->src . ‘<br>’;
}
echo ‘registered styles<br>’;
foreach ($wp_styles->queue as $handle) {
echo $handle . ‘ | ‘ . $wp_styles->registered[$handle]->src . ‘<br>’;
}
}
add_action( ‘wp_print_scripts’, ‘td_inspect_scripts’ );

into Functions.php as you have stated… And “generally,” I do know what I am doing. I followed your steps to a tea.

GosuSama

Hi,

So I wish to do this for all 4 of my categories, and you mentioned I have to change “98” for my “featured category ID”…

I don’t know where I can find my ID’s?
