Great. Thanks.
If I deactivate the older plugin and activate the new one, will I be able to open my existing sliders? Will I lose anything if I do that?
Also, should I activate the newer one before I deactivate the older one, or does it not matter?
Thanks.
That seems to be because one of my staff took the caption off that link to fix the problem. See this link (not top image):

We are using Chrome, 62.0.3202.94 (Official Build) (64-bit).
We are running the latest version of WP, and Newspaper 8.1.
Actually it seems that drop down menu you suggested to Robert was our problem too. Phew! Though I still don’t know why it was showing up differently on some computers.
(But we’re not sorted despite someone else joining the thread. Just noting.)
Except that screen shot that you show is too small! That’s the problem. It should look like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mawl59dhasd06u1/Screenshot%202017-07-07%2017.02.29.png?dl=0. The logo should be the width of the beginning of the “topics” menu item to the end of the “subscribe” menu item, as it does in that screenshot. How do we make it show up that big?
Thanks. It’s still showing large on some computers and small on others.
Except we did upload the retina logo at the appropriate size. It’s there. And, as I said, it displays fine on my computer. But it’s consistently not loading for everyone else.
thanks!
You know what, forget it. We’ll make a separate category instead of using post IDs.
I know that. I only want those IDs to show, but there are more post IDs entered than articles displaying and I want those specific posts to rotate through randomly, not the same 3 out of 15 every time.
I’ve tried your suggestion, but then they stack on top of each other rather than being next to each other horizontally. I want it to look like the “Block 16 in 2 columns” as shown in the demo, while still controlling the filter for each separately.
But also the link that you show has the text to the right of the image, no byline, no excerpt. That’s not what my understanding of how it’s supposed to look is. (Not what the layout description shows here https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8b9zsn2t869jny/Screenshot%202017-03-20%2017.49.23.png?dl=0)
This is how it works when it has one block with three entires following the same filter–it follows the preview image in VC and behaves as expected:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kl1pwkllc6wf2jc/Screenshot%202017-03-20%2017.46.12.png?dl=0
That’s what I want.
But as soon as I divide the row into three columns with their own blocks so I can control the filters separately it changes to this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/efbn4t4pc8pispy/Screenshot%202017-03-20%2017.47.45.png?dl=0
Totally different look in the exact same space with the same block.
Our site isn’t live and is pw protected. Is there a secure way for me to send you login info so you can see what’s going on?
I figured it out. The images that weren’t behaving right were .gifs. When I replaced them with .jpgs it fixed the problem.
The site is currently password protected as it isn’t launched.
What I don’t understand is that on the same page (like a category page), in blocks with the same thumbs, sometimes the images are cropped and sometimes they are not. It doesn’t seem from your description like that should be happening?

Got it. Thanks!
Ah OK. I wasn’t trying to display them, just link to them, but I was thrown off by the pdfs not getting thumbnail previews in the media library, so it looks like they’re not properly loaded. But it does seem to work if you link to the custom url and not the media file. Thanks.
(I just changed it to template 5. Maybe that was the answer? Is template 1 just not editable?)
