Mine weirdly came back, and I’m not exactly sure what I did to make that happen. If I figure it out, I’ll report back!

I haven’t figured it out yet. I did as Calin suggested above, including enabling the classic editor, disabling all the plugins and adding back the Tag Div plugins, but the post settings are still missing at the bottom of the page where I write the posts.

Added: I don’t have the option to overwrite the default site post template anymore. That’s no longer showing on the bottom of the page where I write the posts.

DEFAULT SITE POST TEMPLATE
Setting this option will make all post pages, that don’t have a post template set, to be displayed using this template. You can overwrite this setting on a per post basis.

Hmm… still seeing it on Chrome… see the gray bar on the bottom of the Library News and Road Commission posts?

Reporting back after the latest theme update. I had disabled the auto-update for NewsMag on the “WPMU DEV Dashboard” plugin. So when the latest theme update came around, I saw the place on my WP dashboard to click on “update” manually. I did that, and the theme and NewsMag plugins updated fine with no issues on my theme configurations. Everything updated perfectly.

Thank you so much, Calin. I think maybe it’s my “WPMU DEV Dashboard” plugin that’s auto-updating both my plugins and NewsMag themes. I’ve disabled the auto updates on that plugin and will see if that fixes the problem.

If that IS the problem, I’m guessing that will also fix my NewsMag Theme update issues with the customizations, because I never had any issues with manually updating the theme and then just updating the TagDiv plugins. Everything was fine when I did it that way.

Following… I don’t see it on my site either…

Ok, so here’s what I did. I couldn’t get the “latest articles” title to format right using the above option (adding the code into the php file). So instead, I used Visual Composer – PageBuilder+Latest Articles+Pagination – and then added the raw ad code to the top of the latest articles, using the 2/3 1/3 option. In the 2/3 space on the left, I put the ad code (centered, it fits perfectly above the latest articles section). In the 1/3 space on the right, I put a search box widget (though might change that out for an ad box at some point).

Thanks so much. This will be a custom ad from one of my local advertisers (not AdSense). Right now, it’s just a “your ad could be here” ad, with a link to my advertising page.

I’ve got “show title” checked, so you can see the ad there right now, along with the “Latest Articles” title at the top. I mean, even if we could get the “Latest Articles” below the ad, that would be better for me.

Seems like there must be a way to just drop that ad code into Visual Composer…? But I don’t see an option to have it JUST above the latest articles. If I drop it in there, it covers the whole space, left to right, through the right-hand sidebar.

Thanks so much! Ok, I did as you instructed, and it worked – but ONLY if, in the pagebuilder, I check the box to “show title” at the top of the latest articles block. If I try to hide the title, the ad doesn’t show up.

How can I make the ad show up without showing the “Latest Articles” title at the top of the block?

Also, is there a way to rotate that ad block between 3 custom ads?

Thank you! Yes, I was able to determine that Lazy Load was the problem, and disabled it and things work great now.

Update on this: After fiddling with everything I could think of (with help from the fab TagDiv crew), we still couldn’t figure out why the top page was disappearing, but it appeared to have something to do with me having the site on CloudFlare. (Because, yeah, I deactivated CloudFlare, and the comment system worked fine – BUT my site slowed down and had all the problems I had before activating CloudFlare. So I ended up activating it again and had the same comment issue.)

So I tried out some different comment systems, and while checking out Postmatic, I live-chatted with the Postmatic crew (Jason L., who is awesome), and here’s what we did: Activated the Postmatic plugin, then also added another plugin from the Postmatic people called Epoch (solves most comment issues and works with CDN, Cache and SEO). Those two plugins solved the issue. Comments work great (and bonus points that the Postmatic plugin has a cool thing where people can just reply to a comment email and their comment is automatically added to the post) and everything is speedy.

Highly recommend Postmatic and Epoch, as well as the excellent customer support from the Postmatic people.

Thank you for the note! Well, I’ve deactivated every plugin, and it still does it on Chrome and Firefox. It does NOT do it on Internet Explorer (which, yeah, everyone uses, right? :-))

I’m trial-and-erroring the settings in the NewsMag Panel. I need to somehow change what happens after someone clicks “post comment,” so that it doesn’t refresh the page and make the top disappear.

And also, after the comment is posted, there’s a giant space at the bottom of the page. But no post at the top.

Thanks so much! I ended up figuring out how to use one of the pre-set templates (News) and just tweak it for my home page. The ad in the right sidebar, I created several different “sidebars” on them theme panel, and used one of those as a “widgetized sidebar” on the home page. So now there’s one sidebar at the top right on the home page, and a different one on the bottom left of the home page. Really loving this theme so far. 🙂
