hi, think that helped, it’s confusing as you can set a default sidebar from the category area in the admin, but the posts don’t pull from that, they pull from the settings in the archive area.

ok, great think we are getting somewhere now! Hopefully in future it would be possible to have a header depending on the category

#1 can you address the following question from above?

I’m really confused now, you walked me through a process above to get a different header on a category. The theme has the ability to format category pages in the admin. So are you saying that i can create a header for the category page, but that does not extend to the posts in that category?

#2 I’m trying to get a different logo for mobile, not the site wide logo. If i am in the admin for the Laval header settings, it seems like you can adjust the various views. So here’s my desktop view: http://www.westislandblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/desktop-view.jpg

and here’s the mobile view http://www.westislandblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/mobile-view.jpg, you can see i’ve changed the menu to be the mobile one, gotten rid of the ad zone, and it’s the laval logo, all shows in the admin view. It all looks like that on the phone view in terms of layout, but the logo doesn’t show as laval, it shows site wide.

#3: I also have an issue with ipad in the layout. As it loads, it’s great, once it is loaded it is not.

Also when i look at it on an ipad. it all sets up well as it’s loading, then is totally not mobile when it’s finished loading, it’s super wide and tall.

I’m also having an issue with the logo. I can see my logo is set to the laval island logo in the admin, but when i look at the page https://www.westislandblog.com/category/laval/ on my mobile device, it is the west island (site wide) one. Even tho the layout is coming from the template (it’s layed out different than the site wide, so i can see it’s different on mobile)

Hi, I don’t think i’m being clear. I have a site wide logo, that i want on all pages. I want a different logo for the post category called Laval. In this thread, you have helped me do that using the cloud templates.

Here is how it is working now:
So on my main category page https://www.westislandblog.com/category/laval/ i have the logo i want, it’s not the site wide logo, it says laval not west. All good

I also want all the posts that have their main category setting set to laval, to have that same topper. That was my assumption, all Laval posts, will use the template i’ve set for the laval category. This is not happening. https://www.westislandblog.com/laval-mayor-declares-a-state-of-emergency/ So my question is, how can i set up a template/template header for all posts that belong to laval category.

also another issue is the mobile menu doesn’t work in the Laval Cagegory page. I realized that i have to set up the header for mobile, so i’ve done that, the logo shows up, but not the menu.

Hi, i did manage to get it saved, it was a challenge tho. The theme works differently in different browsers. Was able to save it in firefox. not in chrome.

I thought if i created a category template, any post in the category would have that template? Here’s my main category page https://www.westislandblog.com/category/laval/ but when i click into a post that has Laval category as it’s primary category, it’s got a different theme https://www.westislandblog.com/laval-mayor-declares-a-state-of-emergency/ i’m really looking to have this header on all posts that fall into that category, is that not possible?

ah, think a bit of a mystery is solved. i have to create a header template, then also a category template and use the header on it. I’m struggling to save the template tho. It says it’s saving it, but then when i try to leave the page, it tells me “unsaved content, still want to close tagDiv composer”. If i exit, my header is only partially saved. At the moment i can’t get the menu in there. I’ve tried creating it again, and same thign. I manage to get the logo, and widget in the area, but no menu

Hi, thanks, that is helpful in terms of the header manager. https://www.westislandblog.com/laval-template2/ i’ve created a new page, and added a logo an a menu in the header area (started with a blank template), but there’s the site title in there as well. how can i eliminate that? also it’s missing the ad spot up there, am i able to get that in there?

Also, it’s not then obvious how i would make all my posts in a specific category use this new template?
I want to create three different templates, for three differnt categories in the long run.

Hi, when my client looked at the site for a review, she wants the logo even larger. I’ve change the code you gave me above to 140, and uploaded a new logo that size, but it’s resizing it again to 123 height. Is there a way to have it larger? not sure why the same css code doesn’t work, woudl seem logical that it would.

Also, is there a way to reduce the spacing above and below the logo in that header area?

the client has a variety of sizes, some of the blocks seem to do fine with smaller images, some blocks. The block on the home page stretch them to fill the space, but somehow the blocks on the category pages do not?

Hi, using a layout like header 10 makes my header to large, ideally i’m hoping i can use the same header i am using, but can get some help with a little extra css from you to make the logo a little larger in that header?

Hi, sorry i wasn’t clear. The theme is resizing my logo, and it’s too small. I’d like it to be larger in that space. Is there a way to adjust how much the theme is resizing the logo?

Hi, I’m trying to get to a look where i have two sidebars, a right and left one. I was trying to trouble shoot by disabling plugins as it’s not working well. it’s how i want it at the moment https://www.westislandblog.com/newspapertheme/new-home/ but once the widget element is in there, it’s hard to click on and edit. It seems better when i save the page and go back to it, so thinking as long as that’s the case i can work with it.

ALso i can’t see a way to add more sidebars, i see a few that seem to have come when i installed the demo, but i can’t seem to add more. Where do i do that?
