Thank you for your answer. the problem was we were using a Child Theme, and the update didn’t work. In fact, we have tried to update our theme 2 times and everything is broken.

And we would like to update it from the Newspaper 4 version to the Newspaper 8 version. It has only 4 or 5 static pages, because is based on posts. Do you provide any kind of payment service to do this? We will lost a lot of time and you, as the developers of the theme, will invest less than an hour.

Simply amazing, Lucian! It works like a charm.
I think is a good SEO functionality.
Maybe you could consider to add it in the next update of the theme: if the user add manually an ALT tag, it has priority. But if the user forgets to add it, the theme could add automatically the name of the image file to the ALT tag. It’s better than nothing, isn’t it?

This last solution seems very complicated.

We have added the first code, in order to add the post title to the alt tag of the images when it doesn’t exist.

We have added it to the original functions.php file (not in the child theme function.php file).

But as you can see in the code of this old page, is not working:

I was doing it in the child theme. But I suppose I have to do it in the main theme folder.

Just one question. With this code, when there is an image with no alt tag, the title of the post is included as alt tag. Is there anyway to change it and put the same title than the image, instead of the title post?

I’m sorry but it happens with all type of posts (not just with gallery post).

So before the excerpt, instead of starting withe the first line of the text, the name of the photo is included.

Thank you for your answer an attention. Now I understand how it works. It is showing the most viewed posts in the last 7 days, even if they are old posts (long tail).

Just a suggestion for a next update: could be possible to limit the last 7 days popular posts to the last 7 days activity? In a breaking news media, like ours, it has no sense to show a 2 years old article, even it has been the most viewed in the last week. Maybe it has sense form the analytics point of view, but not from the readers from of view.
