Hello Anamaria thank you for your advice. My website is made up of nearly all posts and very few pages, so it’s the post that need optimising most. Do you think I should use the mobile theme as opposed to the mobile page?
I’ll follow your guide for the other optimisations. I use Ezoic for some of the optimisations as well so I’ll see if I can find a way to make them both work.
thank you
is infinite loading a good alternative?
do you think cloudfare caching and wp super cache being on together can cause problems. does this theme work well with just cloudfare?
hi Simion,
I keep testing but just can’t get it right and with google prioritising mobile pagespeed optimisation scores, mine is really low and my traffic is dropping. i’m unsure what to do. I’ll try removing all plugins and starting again to see if that works even though i’ve already tried and didn’t figure it out

Hi Catalin
I am unsure how to do that. I have removed all plugins on the current site and added them / made changed etc and can’t get it to show a higher pagespeed score for mobile. Sometimes i get a good speed for one page or it fluctuates but mostly all pages are very low. Google are prioritising mobile responsiveness and my rankings seem to be dropping a lot since then.
hello, thanks for your response. i’m not sure if you viewed it as it was because ive been playing around with setting the last half hour. Do you think that would be the only way to improve it. do you know what could influence the server response time?. many thanks
if you happen to look at the moment im playing around with settings and it might show nothing optimised 🙂
https://borncute.com/best-magnetic-toys-for-kids/ seem to achieve it on their page and that’s how mine looked before it changed 🙂 thanks
Yeah, that code made a border around each of the smart list items which looked really good, but i can’t figure out how to make that again now the theme has changed slightly. Do you know what code might achieve that? I think it just needs a slight change in positioning so the circle around the number and box line up correctly
Okay, do you know how I could change it / what isn’t compatible? Thanks
Hi Simion, thanks for your help.
I changed to supercache and that seemed to help.
I’ve put into place the magic bunny code from https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/
and it seemed to make things worse, so I’ve removed it again.
I’ve tried following this guide https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
and when i try to complete section 5, the code that appeared at the top of my page didn’t match with any of the names appearing on page speed insights.
Also now gtmetrix says i’m not deferring the parsing of javascript.
I’m pretty stuck s to what to do next haha 🙂
are those guides still relevant with the new updates in place? 🙂 thanks
also page speed insights says
Page Stats
PSI estimates this page requires 4 additional round trips to load render blocking resources and 2.4 MB to fully render. The median page requires 4 round trips and 3.4 MB. Fewer round trips and bytes results in faster pages.
And it won’t provide a speed for mobile. I used to be 70+ for mobile and 90 for desktop. Unsure what’s changed.
Yeah, that is displaying correctly. But after visiting again or on most mobiles it displays wrong and now suddenly my page speed scores have gone down a lot. I’ll try changing to wp supercache, do you think that might solve it?
Okay, so this is a problem with the update? I didn’t experience this problem before and I didn’t have issues with the plugins before. Can i just revert to the old version of the theme?
okay cool, so i don’t need to place a 410 on the above link or anything?
if i look in the error log i can see
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/pubgcdol/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/index.php on line 6
please can you help thanks
It seems to happen on the second visit to the page and it doesn’t seem to happen on other articles just this one, it’s really strange. can anyone help? thanks
I’ve noticed on my website that currently it displays really dodgy on my mobile, I can see the header twice and the text etc is to the side and out of position. I cleared the cache but this didn’t help.
ignore the last part, that was due to the cache.
Thanks again.
On this link that you sent- https://www.screencast.com/t/b6iVdsbpxc
you can see the text is touching the border on the left. If i’d like the text to start slightly further to the right and not touch the border would i use something like
body
{
margin: 2;
padding: 0;
?
it is already set to
text-align: center;
Also, is there a way to align header 2 so it is central within one of the smart list boxes?
thats great i’ll give that a try thank you very much I’ve noticed aswell that the text inside the box touches the border. how can i get the text to start slightly inside the border rather than touching it?. text align is set to center .
Can we easily modify the category pages ?
That’s great thank you. Is there anyway to adjust the numbering and border so it automatically fits onto a mobile device as the circled number doesn’t quite fit right. Everything else adjusts nicely apart from that.
thank you
