I was able to get mine working again by following the suggestions given here. Thanks all for the help!

Thanks but when I do this, I get the following error, I’m not certain, but it looks similar to the one I was getting yesterday.

Here we go again. After upgrading I lost these customization’s. I tried to follow the previous instructions

But they no longer work. So how can I accomplish this now with the latest theme version???

Seems like everything that sold me on this theme was undone by the 6 update. All these things I could do with version 4, but now all these features that I wanted aren’t working anymore. Not happy.

Thanks for the help. Performing those last steps do produce the output that I am expecting, however it also shows all of the other categories that are assigned to each post. Not just the parent category. I manually went through and set the parent category for a bunch of the posts, but it still shows all of the other categories as well. Is there no way to prevent that behavior?

Yes, it looks like using something like

.td_module_wrap .td-post-category {
background-color: #BB391B;
}

would do it, but I can’t figure out how to define what color for what category? Like I said, there are three categories, and each one should have it’s own color (red, green and orange). How would I define the color for each category?

Can you please clarify how to assign color to these tags? I’m trying to see if I can make it work as it is and the next step is to figure out the coloring and the instructions you provided earlier were a little vague and I can’t figure out where to make the changes at.

This is unfortunate that the newest version doesn’t work as well as the old version in this instance. If you look through the previous conversation I’ve had here, I was able to configure which categories I wanted displayed.

See, almost all of the posts on my site belong to one of three “main” categories. And displaying one of those three categories tags gave a quick way for visitors to know a major item of note for those posts.

I’m no programmer, but I find it hard to believe that there isn’t any way at all to accomplish this again. Or maybe a way to prioritize which tag is shown, something other than alphabetical?

If there is nothing that can be done, then there is nothing that can be done. I just find it hard to believe this isn’t at all possible.

The primary category would be one of three possible choices. How can I configure it in such a way that if one of those three categories are assigned, it would choose that as the primary and shown on the category tag?

@dano1066, what version of the theme are you running? When I try to run this via my SQL admin panel, I get an error saying that wp_postmeta doesn’t exist.

Nevermind, I’m running a wordpress hosted site and it turns out there is a unique string of characters in between the key, ex. wp_randomcharacters_postmeta. I was able t run the command as you suggested and things seem to be working now as far as the default theme setting goes. Thanks for posting this!

This is getting ridiculous. I’ve already given you a link and have already stated that I’ve tried every other sort order option and none work. This is taking WAY to long to get resolved! Please assist ASAP!

P.S. Directly from the settings page “For popular posts we recommend the jetpack (24-48hrs) method”. If this is not recommend, then why say it is in the settings???

Thanks for this post! I need to do this exact same thing now. I’m not the most familiar with SQL, so I was hoping you’d be willing to clarify where I would run this command at? My site is hosted and I believe that if I go into phpMyAdmin and enter the command under the SQL tab of my database for “Run SQL query/queries on database”, then that is what I need to do, correct?

Thanks, but I have two more questions now. First, how can I only show certain categories in the block? All my posts have multiple categories assigned to them, but I’d only like certain tags to show in that block.

Secondly, are you sure that’s the right screenshot for coloring them? I don’t see how to do that there.

Also, one of the other major issues that I’m having is that all of my post templates are now wrong. They are all now Style 4, but I need them to be Style 7. I’ve got about 4000 posts, how can I fix this? I’ve tried setting the post default template to Style 7, but that doesn’t fix this.

Interesting note, I’ve been playing around and have the post limit set to 8 showing posts from the “slideshow” category and sorted by most popular (jetpack method); but now it’s showing the same four posts. Weird.

For some reason when I tried on a different computer, I could get the visual composer to work. But now I’m having trouble getting the “Big Grid Slide” to work like it did before. I would like to to show up to eight posts, but it only shows the first four and when it scrolls, the next block of four is blank.

Thanks for the reply! I went ahead and upgraded the theme this morning, but there are quite a few things that are wrong that I’m going to need help with.

For starters, I the Visual Composer doesn’t seem to be working. When I try to edit my front page, I don’t see any of the composer options, so there is very little I can do right now to try and fix my front page. I have tried removing and reinstalling, but that didn’t help. I edited the php.ini file per instructions I found via search and that didn’t help. I even purchased the plugin (I’ve been thinking about buying it anyways) and installed that version, but I still can’t make any changes. Please help!
