Is like that because that style have something above the menu and is not sticky to the top like you can see here: http://screencast.com/t/1rqMrZe9i

And the problem is not only on android systems, is on IOS to, when you scroll, the page doesn’t refresh the elements, only when you left the finger from the screen, or in some cases when you scroll smooth and slow.

Check it on an iPad, you will understand better how it works. And this issue is more visible if you have something above the menu(in your case the Fashion style have the logo above, or ad)

The big image from the Big slide have 745×483 size. You have images smaller that this size?

You don’t need to make anything manually.

A simple solution is to use tags, edit the big slider and chose latest from all categories and use a tag like sticky and add this tag on each post you want to be on the big slide. http://screencast.com/t/V07R7S0LQ

Yes, you need to replace all files via FTP. If you have so old theme version you will lose sidebar setup, background and other customization like fonts, colors if you have.

The new theme have a new admin panel with all the settings.
