Alin, it’s a beautiful thing!

I’ll be working on a second version of my current site, a kind of “mirror” site using Newspaper 6. Newspaper 4 is Awesome, but from what I can see, Newspaper 6 is Super Awesome! Can you tell me what, if any, performance improvements should be noticed in 6?

Lucian, I hope you’re having a good day.

I’m using the latest version of Newspaper 4 and the latest version of Visual Composer included with that build to create a page with Big Slider using Homepage – blank template, no parent . My Big slider is not showing any images/posts even though all of my posts use featured images. I followed all of your instructions:

1. Made sure my images are large enough
2. Regenerated thumbnails
3. Cleared cache
4. No CDN plugin
5. Posts are in “Featured” category

Unfortunately, my black page still persists. Here is the page: https://tribyoot.org/tribyoot-times-daily-2/

I hope you can help me find a resolution.

Sincerely,

Philip

Thanks Chris. I totally understand and will be taking your advice. If you don’t mind my asking, what are the benefits of upgrading or is there a list of all the new features compared to the old ones?

I currently use the child theme. Here is my site that I would like to keep looking and functioning the same way if I upgrade to Newspaper 6 and upgrade the plugins as well.

I hope you can guide me through the process because I attempted to follow the process you have outlined on the site and the result is nothing like what I have worked so hard to develop.

Thanks again.

What a tremendous asset you are to the Tagdiv Team and to all of us who rely on your expertise for simple to complex issues.

Thank you and have an Awesome Evening!

…or does this already randomize for the specific category? It seems like it does, but I’d like to be sure there are no other settings.

Philip

Thank you Alin. Works like a charm. One more question on this: is there a way to make it random by category instead of random from all posts? I should have been more specific when I initiated the question.

Alin,

Hope you and the rest of the Tagdiv crew are doing well. I wanted to find out if there is a way to randomize the category slider?

I hope you have a solution.

Have an awesome day!

Thanks for the reply. I found a work-around to satisfy my requirements for now.

I did a bit of analysis, debugging and research and found that a couple of added lines to my htaccess file resolves the intermittent, browser-specific issue. Of course, these are famous last words, because things have a way of cropping up again, so we’ll see. For now, the issue seems to be resolved.

Alin,

I managed to cobble together a solution, so no worries on addressing this further.

I apologize for the inconvenience – have discovered the filter available using Visual Composer and Widgets. So this solution has already been found.

Hi Alin,

I’ve tried the above css and just about everything else I could find on the forums and on my own experimentation. So far I am able to give the entire widget contents a border, but I haven’t been able to create the lines to separate thumbs/items and I’ve tried with the code you provided, unsuccessfully.

What could I be missing here?

I hope you can help me with this.

Lucian,

Good day! I have gone through every entry in the Newspaper Forums that has a solution for adding horizontal lines between posts/titles in modules and blocks.

I’m using module 4 / block 5 and I can’t seem to get it to work using any of the css I’ve found in the Forum. I have managed to give my block and outline, but the separator lines are not working for me.

I hope you have a solution for this.

Have an awesome day!

Alin, thanks so much for sticking with me on this until resolved. The Tagdiv Team is the BEST!. I think the difference between max-width of 1200 and max-with of 1199 made the difference.

The effect is complete. I appreciate all you are doing to help me and others like me get the most out of your awesome themes.

Have and Awesome Day!

Alin,

It’s looking good except I can’t get the menu background to wrap to a second line. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Alin,

Thanks for working with me on this. I have applied the css and reduced the font size per your instructions and I am not seeing the wrapping result in your screenshot. I am using this simulator http://quirktools.com/screenfly/#u=https%3A//tribyoot.org&w=966&h=603&a=23

If there is a better simulator that will show the results you got, please let me know. Maybe I’m missing something. Please let me know.

Thanks Emil,

The CSS seems to have resolved the issue. I appreciate your diligence in finding a solution. Have an Awesome Day!

Thanks for looking into this Emil.

Screenshot 1 (this is how the Theme handles menu items that don’t fit on the main bar because of smaller screen size: http://screencast.com/t/qqvWwqHMVJF

Emil,

Thanks for looking into this. On this URL you can see on the right sidebar where I have 4 Tagdiv Ad Boxes in a column row (see image: http://screencast.com/t/8q6Atyj3 The first Ad Box is using the Theme Panel’s sidebar ad. The next 3 below are using custom_ad 1, custom_ad 2, and custom_ad 3 in sequence, but none of them are outputing the results.

Here is the standard script that I am using for each Ad Area in Theme Panel: <script type=”text/javascript” src=”https://tribyoot.org/Tribyoot/wp-content/plugins/oiopub-direct/js.php#type=banner&align=center&zone=5″></script&gt;

I guess this isn’t just a mobile screen issue, but I need a solution for other smaller screens (like netbooks) as well.

Thanks.

Another note to take into consideration. Using the Visual Composer, the Ad Box (added to the widgetized sidebar) will not display any Custom_Ad, but it will display all of the other standard ads.

Also, I might ad that all of my other ads (header, sidebar, article top, article inline, article bottom, etc.) work just fine using the same javascript code I am attempting to use for the custom ads.

Thank you, Lucian,

I’ll look into it.
