Jeez. Don’t lose sight of the fact that many of us are content creators, not web dev pros. We never had to do this with visual page builder and this change has been forced on me because you’ve moved over to your own builder. At the very least we expect this stuff to work out of the box without detailed system config work like this.

Ah fantastic – that’s worked!

Well I’ve been selecting the primary category from the categories box on the right hand side panel in the classic editor view (below the publishing box and above the tags box). Isn’t that a core wordpress category selection box?!? I’m preparing to be gobsmacked if you tell me it’s a Yoast box!

For future users with the same problem where the above screen grabs may not be visible any longer – choose your primary category from the ‘post settings’ box below your article editor and not the boxes on the right.

Maybe this’ll help too – i did the same in chrome with the console running and it seemed to display the following error (I say seemed to as I’m not really sure what I’m doing there!)

Thanks. But I want to filter by a particular category tag and then display a different category tag (the primary category). At the moment, I filter by ‘category 1’ and if I display the category name, they’re all the same – i.e. they display ‘category 1’ or whichever is alphabetically first.

So is there a way for me to filter the content by a category but display the article’s primary category name on the page? As I say, some of my articles are in multiple categories to it’d be useful to be able to choose to display a different one.

Yeah, it’s WPBakery Page Builder V5.6 that’s causing the problem. Can you confirm this is the visual composer plugin I should be using please. I think I used the one that’s distributed with the latest version of Newspaper.

Right, i deactivated all plugins again then activated just the TagDiv composer/counter plugins. The images show – hurray! It’s weird though – i deactivated them all yesterday the problem still happened. Anyhow, I’ll reactivate one by one and let you know which one causes the problem.

OK further info – deactivating lazy load gets the images back. Cleared all caches – again – reactivated lazy load and the pictures disappear.

Same as the folks on this thread I guess. Any updates/fixes? They posted last December…

yep, they’ll appear on the website. Sorry mate, no idea how to execute it tho – i got a dude on peopleperhour to do it for me.

Hmm. Tried installing it automatically again and this time it worked. For those that might have the same problem, if you follow the step by step instructions at https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-automatically-update-newspaper-theme/ I don’t think it’ll work. There’s a step missing – after 5. Update the theme, you have to select activate!

Yeah I know, bit of a schoolboy error but we all make em!

Seems to be working now. Phew!

Hmm – looks like my update seems to have removed newspaper and its now using theme twenty fourteen! very odd. Question still stands tho – any idea what happened – or how i can get back to Newspaper. I’ll try reinstalling it in a while and see if it works the second time.

Thanks for that – though that just shows selected articles within the chosen tag.

I’d like to have the name of the tag displayed – then click that to see all the articles. So I’ve got a tag of ‘full face helmets’ – i’d like it to show the tag name. Click the tag and it displays all the articles tagged ‘full face helmets’.

That possible?

I can use wordpress features but not a coder. However, if it requires coding, i’d love a pointer or two on how to start so I could have a bash 🙂
