Hi Pramukh
In order to add third-party themes and plugins to wordpress.com, you will need to be on the Business or above plan. If you have a business plan or above, then it will let you add the theme like any other host. You can confirm this through email if you are on a paid plan or their forum if on the free one.

Note: I am just another user and not from the Newspaper team.

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the solution. It worked brilliantly for me. There were some other problems, but they seem to have disappeared with the update from yesterday. I will monitor for a while and create another thread if I see other issues again. You can close the thread for now. Thanks again, and I appreciate the responsive support from the team.

I didn’t mean a specific use. I meant how to show sidebar on desktop and hide it on mobile. Sorry for the confusion.

@cleciomayrink use the above mentioned code, it works

I had the same problem. This CSS code helped. Use it in custom code of mobile theme settings:-
.single .td-post-sharing {
opacity: 1;
}

Thanks a ton mate, that worked. And great observation, I didn’t even notice that the buttons were there but were invisible. Thanks once again

I am having the same problem after updating to 10.4. The sharing buttons have disappeared from mobile version, leaving empty spaces

Thanks once again. I found the conflicting plugin. The composer is working fine now. Will appreciate a CSS code for the condition below:-

1. I noticed that the single post image captions are in Italics and video captions are in normal style in both desktop and mobile version of Newspaper theme. Is there a CSS code possible on single posts which can give me uniformity and control on all captions (both image and video inserts) in terms of font size, colour, style and alignment?

Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the help from Newspaper team and have started to love the theme as well.

I am trying to do everything I can from the documentation but it doesn’t seem to work the way it should for headers. Could be from a plugin conflict but all I have are essential plugins and I can’t disable any of them permanently. The sidebar issue in cloud library post templates got resolved by disabling WP bakery which is funny actually as it came bundled with the theme itself. I would have to function with the mixed setup of standard pack and cloud templates. Does that impact site speed in a major way? Secondly will appreciate if you can help me with the following:-
1. How do I change the colour on scroll to top button? For e.g. by default its blue.
2. I see that the colour of an element’s text, background etc. can be changed in the style section of an element. What do the colour boxes accept? A colour code with a hash tag? Because I do that and it doesn’t seem to save, maybe because of a plugin conflict again. Or probably the host, as they manage the cache on server side.

Thanks for all the help in advance, appreciate it very much.

Thanks a lot, it worked. Really appreciate the help from the NewsPaper Team. I am loving the theme so far. There is one problem left though, for me completely shift to cloud library. I go about changing the header font and colour on a text logo and it doesn’t save any changes on a header from cloud library. Any tips there would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks, the caption one is alright.

No I am not looking for the excerpt code. I was looking for the subtitle text that appears below the H1 title tag in a single post. It only appears when a user puts text in the subtitle portion in wordpress editor. This appears in between the title and author name inside a single post.

1. The CSS code I need is for subtitle (the brief description of a post) placeholder below the post title in mobile theme. The default font and size is okay, just want the grey to be a bit darker. You can please write the code and I can always change the font and colour part of it.

2. Is it possible to align image captions in centre of an image by default or maybe you can write a CSS code for it too please.
Thanks in advance

I am still waiting for a response here. More problems to add – why do the plugins show outdated on the plugin screen even when i have uploaded and activated the latest version? Do I really the wpbakery plugin for the team to function? I like the idea of Newspaper theme but these issues are a bit of letdown. And response from support team takes forever. I don’t see a reason why I should think of extending support.

Thanks for responding but both the solutions don’t work and logically they shouldn’t. I have lightbox disabled by default in posts, works on desktop version of the site but not the mobile version. AMP settings wont work either. Even if i disable the redirect to amp, the mobile users will still get redirected to amp post versions by default. That is how amp works now on mobile devices.

Hi
Thanks for responding. I have the General Modal Image disabled. I have lightbox under featured image disabled as well, but it works only for the desktop site. These settings don’t seem to be applying to the mobile version of newspaper theme. How do I disable lightbox there as it seems to affect the LCP of my articles on google search console? Featured image is the first large content that loads on a mobile page and google takes it as a negative if it takes more time. Desktop version, Google seems to be fine with. Mobile version is where it’s putting an error and the only difference seems to be the lightbox appearing on featured and other images on mobile theme. My url is sabysworld.com

Sorry, meant image lightbox and not lighthouse. Just need to know how I disable the featured image/ other image lightbox for the mobile version. Thanks

Hi
I am not from support, and am using the theme like you. I think it’s because the inner page (podcasts) is not an actual page but a category layout. Tagdiv composer will work on pages like homepage, contact etc., found under pages section in WordPress. You can change the layout of category pages by choosing different templates from theme panel though. I think but am not sure, that it’s possible to customise a category template from cloud library. I hope it helps

Thank you Simion for clarifying.

Thanks Bettina, really appreciate the help. The code works, thanks again.

Hi
I am no expert and not from support. Just one of the users here. I think Blogposts get created and edited in your normal gutenberg or classic wordpress editor. Tagdiv composer will come into play while designing and editing elements on your homepage etc. At least that is what I do. The blogpost will appear as per the template design you would chose.

Hi
I am facing the same issue. Mobile version randomly appears on desktop and vice versa. It resolves in few minutes but is a minor irritant and maybe a put off for site visitors. Problem is I can’t configure the cache as my website host is WordPress.com and they manage their own cache. Installing my own caching solution is not recommended there. Is there any other workaround?
