Christopher is a long time WordPress user. Anything else you need to know is private ;-) I *do not* work for TagDiv, but I've been using their themes since late 2013.

Yes, you need to optimize your website and wordpress setup.

See the theme docs, tutorials and diy, how to speed uo your site.

In the same section you can view my tutorials in the best of forum section.

Does your server have the imagemagick/GD library installed — that is needed for WP to render thumbnails at all.

simchris

Better to test a post page as your home page will always take longer to render than a post.

Check to make sure your robots.txt file is not blocking stuff for Google — this includes blocking the wordpress folders! This is #1 cause.

Be sure you have notified Google that the https site is now the primary and http site is deprecated and that you have a full “all content” 301 redirect in place.

Check for errors in the search console / webmaster tools itself — it will tell you if there are sitemap issues; try testing the sitemap and if you get an okay, resubmit sitemap (make sure it’s the https version!).

Not sure that will help.

I think you have to set the image as a ‘featured’ image on a post for it to fire off all the thumbs; which is how WP works now. I think if you upload an image from media manager, it may only create the three ‘default’ sizes you set in WP admin > settings > media.

Correct me if wrong, but that seems to be how it works on our sites. 🙂

@carmene

see: http://gtmetrix.com — put in the URL for one of your post pages, and it will show you what to fix, and sometimes even provide the actual replacement elements for you!

We’ve been pals with the GT folks for 16 years, and cannot recommend the free tool highly enough (and those on the forums may note, I always do!).

@Dhananjay
you can minify that js file using the Google recommended compression tool found in my long winded optimization thread in the docs > tutorials/DIY > best of forums.

I specifically have a post about both CSS minification and JS minification you can do manually that won’t break the site !

@jim
please start your own topic. That question is both outside the scope of this current topic, and not really related to the theme specifically. The theme is a look/feel/design for WordPress, it does not create all the back-end elements for an auction site. For an ecommerce site you should look at the WooCommerce plugin, as your starting point to research, perhaps.

Have you tried editing your excerpt manually on your post page to show only the content you want in the OG tag excerpt and/or use the on-page custom version in Yoast SEO “per post” to control that ?

If you look at your page source for a post, whatever is actually *in* the OG tag, is what they will pick-up for sharing. Hence the suggestions to use Yoast and/or the WP excerpt snippet box on post page to control what gets entered into the OG “description” tag in your meta data found in HEAD area of each post.

Take a look at your post page source, to see what is actually there.

Theme doesn’t control this — the data YOU setup per post which gets put into the OG tags, is what FB uses.

Sorry if that is not a simple one click answer 🙂

Icons are used for social media bugs, arrows, search eyeglass, top of page chevron, etc.

Best to use server side stats like webalizer for that. See your hosting account for stats and reporting option.

Ads on your site work for me in safari on mac and ios.

Note also that google may evaluate your development mockup site and choose not to show ads since the site is not yet live and open for business.

Note safari for windows was discontinued in 2012 and should not be used for anything.

We dont have that issue on any of our sites. Ads work on all devices and platforms.

Note categories and tags are two different things. So, if you only check the sports category for a new post and no other categories selected, then it should only appear on the sports category index page.

We are updating our server in april so will be enjoying the same torment soon ?

Trick for custom fields not showing in AMP version of post:

use this in the template for /amp/ posts

global $post;
$metas = get_post_meta( $post->ID, 'your-custom-field-name', true );

See the WordPress.org docs for WordPress on how to do ‘bulk editing’

Bulk Edit

The Bulk Edit Posts ‘screen’ is displayed below the Table Of Posts header once, one, or more Posts, have been selected, and the Bulk Action of Edit is Applied. Bulk Edit allows the fields, Author, Comments Allowed, Status, Pings Allowed, and Sticky, to be changed for all the selected Posts. It is important to note, Categories and Tags can be ADDED in bulk to a set of Posts, but it is not possible to CHANGE, or DELETE, a Category, or Tag, for those Posts.
Cancel – Click Cancel to cancel and abort the Bulk Edit of these Posts.
Update – Click Update to save the Bulk Edits made to these Posts.

##
most info on how to use basic WordPress functions are found in the WP “Codex” and doing simple Google searches like “wordpress codex bulk edit” will find help 🙂

Not all WP plugins are compatible with PHP7; so I’d likely try first to disable ALL plugins except visual composer, clear any site-side caching completely.

VC supposedly works with PHP7, as does the theme itself, as does WordPress, but not sure about any of the other plugins.

7.7 seconds is pretty slow; 3.7 seconds would be “good” for the entire complex page. 1 second would be “insanely great.”

Although important to note, test one of your POST pages for speed NOT your home page!

Seems like maybe a good caching plugin would help, but be aware what SLOOOOOOWS down a page a LOT is loading too many external things (e.g., Jetpack, counters for social stuff, loading avatar for author image externally vs local hosted image, too many ad networks, not properly optimized images and thumbnails, etc.)

Some of the errors are odd, and I suspect related to a bad ad element on the page — except ads don’t render on AMP on our sites right now. So, odd: for example this story gets a bad element for “container” not supported, but the pages near to it have no such error, and I don’t see anything in the post itself that would trigger that on first view.

http://enewschannels.com/starlight-childrens-foundation-annual-a-stellar-night-gala-honored-philanthropists-kathy-paris-and-nicky-hilton/amp/

So, very odd. So seeing maybe a 10-20% fail rate on “old” content.

Note on my beta music site (changed the name end of 2015 from a long one to short one), using Newsmag theme, I currently have this:

===============
Total indexed
1,828

Accelerated Mobile Pages
Fix errors on your Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) in order to have them prominently served to mobile users. Learn more.
Status: 2/27/16
286 Indexed AMP pages 15 AMP pages with errors

============

On another site, the one of mine in the TagDiv showcase,

Total indexed
18,874

Accelerated Mobile Pages
Fix errors on your Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) in order to have them prominently served to mobile users. Learn more.
Status: 2/27/16
1,172 Indexed AMP pages 359 AMP pages with errors

============

So, some of the old content the pages just are messed up and not sure some stuff I want to fix. But am looking into it.

Point being it’s not entirely fault of plugin for any issues with the AMP validation.

Welcome to the circus! No more elephants, sorry!

Best to check the support threads on WordPress.org for the plugin. That is where the action is, not here 🙂

A update should push this coming week (either 0.3.2 or 0.4 depending on how they are doing their dot revisions). They have some bugs with Windows server, some things with renamed wp-content directory, some other technical things to fix.

For the schema stuff, if using Yoast SEO, be sure to use the Yoast SEO GLUE for Amp add-on.

I believe TagDiv will ALSO look at this stuff as the plugin continues to mature, but right now it’s the only gane in town unless you want to “roll your own” as they used to say.

Dunno; you might check the Visual Composer support forums while waiting for TagDiv reply.

I believe that is the icons font; a trimmed version of FontAwesome.
