Likely because your site got updated to WordPress 4.2 for the security fixes.
You might try
a) clear all your caches, especially in your browser
b) reinstall the theme with “latest” 1.71B version from Themeforest.
You might also be able to just remove the second block entirely and just have one full width span
[xxxxxxxxxxxx][]
well, 8-6 isn’t going to work … that is more than 12 ð
It’s already 6 and 6 by default …
[xxxxxx][xxxxxx]
and you want
[xxxxxxxx][xxxx]
can you paste in the code snippets you changed ?
You might have to turn off the lazy load feature.
Anecdotal…
tested a Rolling Stone article with wide headline
http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/features/secrets-of-avengers-age-of-ultron-joss-whedon-tells-all-20150422
and it also skips the first paragraph, but grabs the sub-headline which is the same “block” (basically two cols vs one col). So it might be the wide headline template alone causing that oddity.
I am still playing with this ð
What did you change them to?
They must equal 12 total for the grid, so if you make the left span 8, then the right one must be 4.
We here have NEVER had good luck with the envato plugin; it seems to work for others; and for us, we just choose to do the FTP method since we can make backups of important files at same time.
The current version is the one you can download from your themeforest “downloads” account page.
They can’t do the update for you, but you can follow my guide from the sticky post.
Or read the theme docs “how to upgrade” — see links right side of page ð

You can change the number of words for excerpts from the “excerpts” panel in the theme panel.
I just went through doing this myself, actually as we write headlines “up to 20 words” (which is max for Google News), and wanted 20 words visible vs 15 or 12 on some blocks. Works!
Yeah, I’m going to try moving to 1.71B today on one of our sites and see what happens. ð
If you know what you’re doing there is a quick and dirty way to upgrade, but this requires having FTP window open with the files to upload, and your filemanager on your web hosting platform open to delete the old files with one click. I call this the “in place” dirty upgrade method.
Best way to do it, for safety, is the method found in my “sticky” post top of forum on moving from one theme to another; same process.
I will update that sticky to include my “dirty” upgrade method … but this is kind of advanced in its own way and site will effectively be dead for 5-8 minutes while doing it whereas the long method nobody sees the changes just different theme temporarily.
Also, sidebar widgets “might” or might not reset one or more items, so good to take screen shot or write down anything special or unusual you did with sidebar widget placement. This last issue is inherent to WP, not the theme; although it keeps getting better.
Hope that helped!
Actually … that is separate function for a different kind of content sharing.
Here is example of what I’m talking about …
if you go to your G+ account and post an update, and paste in this link from one of our sites — one of the last ones running Woo Canvas vs Newsmag:
http://newyorknetwire.com/2015/04/20/newswire_NYNW150338-9452.php/new-easeus-partition-master-10-5-able-convert-mbr-disk-gpt-disk-convert-gpt-disk-mbr/
this will populate the photo, headline and first paragraph in the content box.
If I do that on CaliforniaNewswire.com with a story, running Newsmag 1.6, it no longer does that; although it did it a week ago prior to the switch to Newsmag from our old Woo custom template.
This leads me to believe all things being equal that there is some element of the rendered page structure which causes Google’s scraper to not pull the full text in quite the same way.
——–so———–
I did try removing the “categories” from above headline/title on CaliforniaNewswire.com and this had no effect. I am going to try some other things like “simple sidebar” and removing related content, social media buttons, etc., to see if it’s “relational” content confusing it (e.g., meta data or mark-up related to the other images/titles on page), or what. Super annoying.
It may be that having the bulk of other headlines/titles/images inside the “woo sidebar” separates the onpage content enough to make the Google scraper less confused.
They really should be pulling the damn meta/og description tag, and no good reason for them to still be “scraping” the page.
Could be something as simple as they don’t like the “full width headline” which is in separate “block” from the body text; meaning not in the same “column” …. (sigh)
I’m playing with it, as time permits.
Upshot — the Woo Canvas template we’ve had for several years DOES WORK for G+ capture, while the Newsmag layout I’ve setup does NOT … so, I’m always frustrated by these micro-management issues with Google …
And don’t get me started on the right format for sitelinks for CSE hinting. Lack of documentation on that is ridiculous from them. ð
Facebook sometimes has trouble capturing content — they are aware of this and have *FINALLY* added a fix (!). If it hangs and just does nothing, it’s a time out issue with FB. However, if you can at least get the bottom box on FB to populate with something even if it’s just your site URL, you can then on FB click the “time posted” and there is now a drop down to “recapture the attachment content” or some similar verbiage, and it will refresh the capture and get the stuff again. I’ve had to do this several times this week — regardless of theme — like the famous “missing photo” issue, or the missing headline/description under photo issue — seems to work.
They do still have instances of “nothing happens” when going to share. And you can test these behaviors by manually going to your own “page” or time line and just pasting in URL from your site …
at least their new “recapture content” feature seems to work — which is great vs nothing at all ð
Yeah, I’ve just gotten in habit of deleting the field text if I update a block. Luckily the feedback in the preview area of the layout reminds me if I forget. Annoying, but not world crushing.
HOWEVER…
always check the changelog for a theme when there is update (it’s in the “all files download zip”) — as the update log will state if the new update fixes and security and/or functional issues (like, say crashing server …). ð
You can find the changelog in the zip file you download from Themeforest … ?
Great idea to learn to unzip files locally on your hard drive and “explore” what is actually included with files you purchase and download from the interwebs. ð

FYI, my issue with the line breaks was for the “product description box”; and is no longer an issue it looks like.
I don’t use comments in WooCommerce, so never ran into that.
Nope. If you have 1.6, you could wait to see if 1.71B is stable for everyone.
If you have 1.7 you should go to 1.71B.
You should update WordPress when there is update as they have been fixing security flaws with each update, some of which are fairly critical as the industry continues to become more and more aware of potential flaws in the underlying structure of all the pieces being used. Same with plugins; check them regularly. Don’t ignore updates if the patch is for a major security flaw.
Additional:
THIS APPEARS TO BE BUG IN WP 4.2 …
on one of my last remaining sites running woo canvas, the “duplicate” title also happens.
not a theme bug (!)
I expect WP 4.2.1 to come tomorrow.

Yes, install correct zip file. Install the “theme file” not the “all files” zip. ð
HEY!!
note to all having this issue … not a new “theme bug” per se;
this actually caused by install of WP 4.2 and *not* the theme update
… one of my sites running 1.6 which I just updated to WP 4.2 now has this same issue with just the “categories” widget — none of the other widgets affected I’m using (might impact other ‘default’ widgets; but not impacting tag cloud …
CSS “printed” on page:
<aside class="widget widget_categories"><div class="block-title"><span>Categories</span></div><label class="screen-reader-text" for="cat">Categories</label><select name='cat' id='cat' class='postform'>
I’ve actually been looking for a good tag plugin … somebody had a really nice one for their newsmag site, and I’ve lost the link now.
Tags cloud is not managed by theme; but you can look at the WordPress Codex on how to add config to the functions.php file; or find a better plugin than the default WP widget (the tag cloud is not part of theme; but a default widget).
And wow the service you’re using to use for a screen shot launched a popup to a live video sex site … might want to use something else for that (!).
ð
Oh sorry .. just noticed that is FB plugin not disqus … you could look at your rendered page source and find the style class for the FB stuff and do the same thing with corrct #class_name
